lou: "the new york post" reports governor andrew, received a $25,000 campaign contribution from an attorney representing hollywood mogul accused sexual predator harvey weinstein. just six days before and in an investigation into his cave, cuomo halted the investigation in the manhattan district attorney who himself saw pursuing weinstein after receiving a $10,000 donation from the same attorney. joining us tonight is byron york, washed in examiner chief political correspondent, fox news contributor. good to have you with us. good to see you.

>> thank you, lou. lou: governor cuomo is suddenly in the middle of a controversy of his own making and it seems to be building that the piece. is this purposeful or has he just lost all political touch? >> welcome him as he could be out of touch right now. in the democratic party i think what we are seeing in this debate between him and symbian extent and in this race in general is that the old hillary bernie feith is continuing at the different cast of characters now. the fight between the progressive wing in the old-fashioned liberal establishment wing of the democratic party is going on and cuomo is for bear, but having trouble aiming last night. the idea that a candidate with you all stop whining when you do is just mind-boggling. but that's a came out of his mouth. lou: that came out of his mouth, consulting immigration and customs enforcement.

republican race where we really didn't be the power of donald trump with republican voters. his endorsement of ron desantis really turned that race in a big way. it wasn't close. lou: adam putnam how they think it was a 25-point lead at one point. the president stepped in and turned it all upside down for the establishment gop and the koch brothers and wall street in the business roundtable and the chamber of commerce. there is no doubt. which is a stronger? establishment gop were donald trump. right now the answer is convincingly donald trump. >> absolutely. putnam had been elected statewide in desantis had not. when they had that debate, i believe it was bret baier and martha mccollum on that. he got exposure across the state any of the president come in and it really flipped the race.

while all about what's happening there is a multicandidate race going on in the democratic party. remember andrew gillum one with 34% of the vote. lou: with the five other candidates, basically establishment democrats. >> won a home was named glenn graham, daughter of former senator bob graham. so you have this establishment and going again and everybody was really, really surprised when andrew gillum came out on top. lou: as we look at what's happening in the democratic party and arizona, and arizona, oklahoma with the gubernatorial runoff. this is starting to be one of the most interesting is not the most interesting already midterm elections that we've seen in certainly 2010. >> absolutely. arizona being a really, really critical race because if democrats were to capture the

house and that's a real possibility, for republicans the senate becomes everything. and they've got some good pickup opportunities like north dakota, that arizona is the one where democrats think they might be able to pick up one. lou: i don't believe either party any more frankly when it comes to this. this is going to be, it seems to me right now very clearly the democrats had very little to run on. they are going to be as nasty and does british and brutal as they possibly can. it looks like a scorched earth campaign being led to far left elements. and we've seen what happens when there is no bridge across the center for the democrats or republicans and the democrats certainly don't have that bridge and it's certainly not represented by any major candidate in any state that i've been following.

train to the trump justice department has sided with a group of asian-american students suing harvard university over its race-based admission policy. the department of justice alleging harvard uses a personal rating that discriminates against asian-american applicants. the case goes to trial in october. 22% of the admitted 2021 harvard class of asian-american. joining us tonight, harvey dillon come attorney, rnc for the great state of california. great to have you with us. let's start with this case with the department of justice. race-based admissions of any kind should be, i would think in this day and age, a real red

flag for admissions officers for university administrations. >> absolutely. it's illegal to put it bluntly. unfortunately in today's america, discrimination against asian-americans is kind of the last frontier and the justification is that asian americans on average students of her perform. if we allow people based on merit you have more than 50% of the harvard community being asian-americans and we can't have that because of course the left believes in racial gerrymandering that way. so they assign low personality scores to asian candidates and use that as a proxy for elimination of the students, even without meeting the students. that is obviously illegal and the federal government has stepped in because they gave funds to harvard and harvard has to comply with title vi another civil rights regulations. i look forward to seeing all of this play out in october, lou.
