fate attempt to take the company private. he smoke mayor juana during the interview. he said two of tesla's top executives were leaving the company. friday saw the august jobs report released. 201,000 non-farm jobs added last month. the unemployment rate remained at 3.9%. markets finished the week in the red. maria, back over to you. maria: kraft heinz has become one of the largest food companies in the world today. while they have brand names like oscar mayer and kool-aid under its banner, they are look for top line opportunities as the food market continues to evolve. we are talking with bernardo

hees. he's here to talk about what's in store for kraft heinz. we just heard in the headlines the jobs numbers were very good. wages moving up. and now people are worried that as wages go up it will impact margins. talk to us about your business. are you seeing cost pressure because of wages? >> we are seeing the market more tight. not only the labor market, but even when you think will the logistics, transportation. and canada, mexico, china pressuring this. so we are seeing this. on the wages front to have two folds of this story. one story is wages going up, it's good for the economy. because it generates consumption. and we are seeing consumption

trends in the public data, improving month by month. on the other hand you have pressure and you need to manage that the best we can. manufacturing, and corporate function. we have been hiring. at the end of the year, to hire over 500 jobs and still have 250 openings to go to year end. so we are pleased with the dynamic the way the economy is moving now. maria: you don't see a margin pressure? >> we do but within the category to create innovation and create value for position to to consumers so we can equal eye cheese, nuts, sausage, frozen, refrigerated products. and dry products.

everywhere on the shelf in the supermarket that you can work the category so we can benefit consumers. maria: you are also seeing you said good demand. given the current trade fights we are having, debates between china and the u.s., canada and the u.s., has that been a factor for you? >> as a global company we believe in global trade. it benefits consumers in general in specific regions and countries. it's interesting because we establish our supply chain as north america as a u.s.-based supply chain. and also exported to canada and mexico. so that's a lot of my products go abroad from the united states, being manufactured here

where you have over 40 factories nationwide in the country. so it's a problem with tariffs. maria: you are worried about retaliatory tariffs. >> yes. the uncertainty is as big of a problem as tariffs. any time you are planning a factory, supply chain structure and transportation capacity, we need the ability to say what's going to happen in five, ten, 15 years. to really in canada, the united states and mexico. so we hope the trade talks can come to an end and come to an agreement that can allow us to invest for growth bar where

where does the growth come from? >> we establish our rules under four. we grow innovation, seek the mergers. year over year. i think what's happening now that's much more incremental, right? than before. before we would have a new flavor of ketchup, what's very important to each category. but now we have a new category. just crack an egg. a breakfast product. or heinz mayo. or kool-aid no sugar, or philadelphia cheesecake. these kind of product are much more incremental than before. that's number one.

two two is market. the shelf in the stores with certainty about distribution, display, merchandising. price back architecture. understanding what's good in each one on the shelf components. to do that we are hiring as part of the people we hire is pretty much sales reps how we call them that those are about 30 off our hiring this year that are touching the stores. maria: you have been on a growth move for a couple years. you have the scale. but do you need more scale? are you in the market for more acquisitions? >> wear in shy from the fact there will be more consolidation in the industry. we want to be a force of that. at the early stage we had kraft heinz for two years now.

teams in the national hockey league. we are so fortunate our best players are tremendous people. you look at guy like sidney crosby and austin matthews in toronto. what ovechkin did last year, how emotional he was and helped people rally around that. maria: and we know he cares. >> even if you want a capital fan, our game is in a wonderful position today. maria: what needs to be done in terms of getting more people in the stadium. is it a technology issue? is it something else to get younger people more excited about hockey? >> i think you look at the numbers, 31 teams.

there are some cities, and losing is a part of that. people say i don't want to pay to watch a team not win. it comes back to youth hockey. kid then see and realize how great and wonderful our game is. then those kids are saying to their parents i want to go to an nhl game. our game is in a solid state right now. i think the players and the league is doing as good a job as they can do. maria: across the world people are talking about it. i know you are headed to china. what are you doing in terms of being an ambassador for the game. >> some of the best players in our game come from russia and europe and czechoslovakia. and this is a whole new market

for hockey and the national hockey league going over to asia. boston and calgary are going to play two games or there this year. the chinese people when they get behind something, they go all in. they are hosting 22 winter olympics. they want their hockey team to be represented in a positive manner. we are going over there to do some clings. we'll watch some hockey d there to do some clinics. we'll watch some hockey games and give some pointers. what we are going to do, we'll do some clinics and hockey videos we'll leave behind in china. there are some great north american people coaching over in china right now. so it's not like the hockey system has never been started.

they have been up and running so hopefully we can make it better. maria: i was watching video of you the other day. when i'm watching the puck, it's a little dangerous and kind of scary. do you miss the game? >> i miss it immensely. it's the greatest sport. the people are the nicest people. i have my great memories in sports because of hockey. i look back and i was never fearful of getting hit. it's a very, very physical game. i look back and think i was lucky to not get hurt. these men are big, they are physical, and sometimes they can be overlire aggressive. maria: you have also been great investor in other things. you have a winery and restaurant. tell us about your winery.

>> the one thing found out in my life is nobody told me how to play hockey other than coaches. in the business world i don't tell people how to run their businesses. i have been lucky. my wine partner has been in the wine business since the 1950s with his father. i have been fortunate to partner with him. so we have been very proud of the fact that we have a good product. i have been partners with a family in toronto for 25 years with a restaurant. the thing that made our restaurant so special is his family and my dad, my dad spend a lot of time in there and treats it like it's his own kitchen so it has a family atmosphere. atmosphere. maria: and family man. we'll talk to you about some of your investments and we'll be joined by his new business partner when we come back.

we learned 70% of men still wants to touch and feel a product before they buy it. older men group shopping brick and mortar. we found out when we opened the pop-up in soho. so we opened 25 stores last year and 29 this year. we have the omni shop where they go back and forth and it's been successful. maria: is the ultimate goal to take the company public? >> we don't have time to think about that's with everything going on. maria: are you seeing pressure in terms of margins because costs are going up? this past week we had the employment numbers out. wages went up 4%. we spoke with the ceo of kraft-heinz. what do you see. >> we are growing so fast and
