guys have ever cooked before look at this you have to do it fast. that's the only way it worked these guys never cooked in their lives. david: not to mention they're two communist leaders who have nuclear weapons kind of scary. melissa: there you go that does it the evening edit starts now. president trump: this is going to be a storm that's going to be a very large one far larger than we've seen in perhaps decades. the places that are in the way and in the most jeopardy would be virginia, north carolina, south carolina that area, and again, they haven't seen anything like what's coming at us in 25-30 years, maybe ever. liz: the president earlier today on hurricane florence the carolinas and virginia now right in the bullseye of hurricane florence, it is strengthening into a dangerous cat 4 hurricane that could hit thursday night, potentially 20 million people at
5:01 pm
risk in multiple states it is a massive historic hurricane as the president said not seen in decades, packing brute force winds that could create storm surges and dangerous flooding spreading into a half a dozen states and the leader of al qaeda out with a new message to the world's terrorists on the anniversary of september 11 talking about how to "inflict damage on the u.s. " this as fbi director christopher wray says there were 120 terror-related arrests in the u.s. last year and msnbc host appearing to walk back his anti-trump comments after saying trump is worse for america than terrorists as california democrat senator harris gets called out for her misleading edit of trump pick brett kavanaugh. thank you so much for joining us money, politics, we've got the debate behind tomorrow's headlines. i'm elizabeth macdonald, the evening edit starts right now.
5:02 pm
liz: first your money and the dow up more than 100 points ending the day at 25, 971 apple leading the tech charge higher, more on your money in just a second but first, in less than 48 hours, hurricane florence is forecasted to hit the carolinas and virginia and possibly maryland. a category 4, 140 plus miles per hour winds, possible 15-foot storm surge, they're expecting catastrophic flooding. now in the stop's path, a half a dozen nuclear power plants, pits holding industrial farm waste, numerous open air lagoons that store animal waste, 760,000 estimated homes in the path of this hurricane, and reconstruction costs could be pretty astounding at $170 billion. these are all forecast on the experts one saying this is a very harvey-esque type storm a
5:03 pm
mass exodus of people fleeing from the carolinas and virginia and more than a million have been ordered out of coastal regions as the hurricane approaches. four major highways heading inland have been converted to one day driving, away from the coast. most u.s. airlines now waving flight change fees. let's take a listen to south carolinas governor telling people to get out. >> this is a real hurricane that we have coming and our goal is to protect lives and property and we know that this evacuation order that i'm issuing is going to be inconvenient for some people but we are not going to gamble with the lives of the people of south carolina. not a one. that's why we're doing what we're doing. liz: let's get right to jeff flock live on the ground in north carolina. jeff are people getting out? we're seeing people staying. reporter: there are people on both sides of that one, liz.
5:04 pm
it's amazing that 5:00 advisory kicked it a little bit more to the south just a hair. you talk about the damage and the hurricanes here look at the building here see where the shingled changed that was the last hurricane 2005 and tore the whole end of the building off and as you can see look at this these are boards that have been up here before. you can tell this isn't new wood they've been through flewed, fran, and ophilia in 2005 and this one probably the greatest of all this is what the harbor looks like or the sound side all these boats taken out of this marina. these were full this time last week. all these boats pulled out of here. some people have left, liz but i'll tell you, i saw somebody who said i'm not going to board my house up because there's nothing going to be left when i get back so just the heck with it and other people, they decide to stay. they've been here before uprooting their lives is not something they want to do. it's scary but this storm is nothing like anything anyone has
5:05 pm
seen before at least not in our lifetime. liz: and jeff we've got two storms behind it, right? >> that's the scary part. you don't know what those are going to do. take them one at a time but it's a very active time in the tropic s right now, scary time if you live on the coast. liz: jeff flock please be safe my friend. i know how you like to get to the ocean in a middle of a storm we just want you to be safe. reporter: i'll be there. liz: thank you so much for your reporting there. let's turn to remembering september 11, 17 years on, president trump in pennsylvania paying tribute to those who died aboard hijacked flight 93 he was there to honor the heros of that flight. watch. well we don't have the sound that's the image of the president let's bring in republican representative from texas, and he's also former retired u.s. air force captain, congressman your thoughts on this day? >> well, we should never forget this day. we should never forget those who parish.
5:06 pm
we should never forget the lessons that we learned in this cowardly attack by radical islamic jihad because if we do we run the risk of having it being repeated. we've made some great changes in our intelligence world and our law enforcement i think people are on their p's and q's after what happened 17 years ago. liz: and congressman the leader of al qaeda out with the new september 11 message, he's rip ping the president's close support for israel saying "trump 's stupid for shifting the american embassy to jerusalem from tel aviv" and also calling for unity for the world's terrorist to conduct attacks on the american homeland. your reaction to that? >> my reaction is bring it on. we need to have unity here as well. democrats and republicans need to realize that this is not a partisan war on terrorism and with our allies. we need unity there and we need
5:07 pm
to stand shoulder to shoulder to get these people who would like nothing better than to destroy western civilization and our way of life, our culture. they are after us, and we need to push back and push back hard and that's why i'm so happy that we have a very strong leader in the white house today and i talk with our secretary of defense this very day over at the pentagon. we've got leadership that will not, they will not stand for the stuff that we have seen in the past and i think the radical jihad better look out because there's a new cop on the block. liz: congressman general jack keane echoing what you said, telling fox this morning, we have not had a catastrophic attack on the level of 9/11. i.c.e. has since been destroyed. there's been successes since 9/11. that's a testament to our democracy so what worked? >> well i think just tough policies. the past administration
5:08 pm
telegraphed us leaving iraq. i have my own son, had three tours to iraq, as a navy seal and you don't give that type of information and of course now, we've got to worry about the iranians. the iranians are the biggest exporters of terrorism today and you know, we've slammed isis very very hard but they're not gone. they're not, they are still out there. they're still a danger. we have to be careful not only a broad, but we have to be careful domestically. we need to be very careful about our borders, about our refugee programs. we need to be able to vet these pep so that we don't have sleeper cells, we already know there's some out there but they are still quite a danger and we need to be on the alert and very vigilant at all times liz. liz: there actually is a new homeland security report about that saying that the danger is not just vehicle attacks, but mass shooting and fbi director, sir, christopher wray today warning on terrorism. i want your reaction to what the
5:09 pm
fbi director said. watch. >> this is a significant issue. we had about 120 terrorism- related arrests last year alone, and that's just in the arrest context, so there's a lot happening every day, 365 days a year, right now in the terrorism front. liz: this is under-the-radar screen. there's active terrorist activity in the states. your reaction? >> my reaction is we've already introduced a bill, called the tax act, threat assessment prevention and safety act and this will absolutely be right up the allie of this bill so that people will if you see something say something. we've got the threat assessment method that has been practiced by the capitol hill police and the secret service for many many years protecting folks like elected officials like me, and it's just not part of the culture and fabric of our local law enforcement. we need to have this method worldwide, excuse me, nationwide
5:10 pm
so that we can have this same method there and protect not only our schools but our communities, our innocent, our people out there not only from people who are mentally ill, but also from terrorists and these people many many times in fact 80% of the time they raise a red flag and self-identify to someone, if we can get that information and connect the dots , we can save lives. liz: that's an important message what you just said. let's turn to the mid-terms and the president's winning economic message for the republicans. we're less than 56 days away, here is the republican strategy, box the democrats in a corner before the mid-terms, by showing democrats we're for raising our taxes and returning to obama-era economic stagnation and no growth. house republicans introducing legislation to lock in cuts to individual tax rates beyond 2025 congressman will that plan get through the senate? >> do you know what i can't say it's going to get through the senate. i think we'll get it through the
5:11 pm
house. listen we've got the filibuster rule in the senate that's absolutely killing great legislation that comes out of the house we've got over 500 bills sitting at the senate. we only have 51 republican votes and we need 60 to get through this filibuster rule. we don't have nine democrats, so this is why i really believe that the leadership over in the senate needs to do something with the filibuster rule like we have on our executive and judiciary point ams so we can get some of this policy through. times wasting and i don't think the american people want to see us go back to the fail and disastrous policies of the past administration. we have a booming economy. we have safer communities and we got a stronger military, and i don't think people are going to turn away from the dollars that have been coming right back into our country from overseas because of the tax cuts and jobs act. economic prosperity is there and the jobs we created 3.7 million jobs just in the last less than
5:12 pm
two years, and we've got the lowest unemployment we've seen, in fact historically low for minorities and lowest unemployment we've seen in 50 years across the nation, and most people in at least in my district and i think across the nation are getting a tax cut and we keep hearing this nonsense about this is only for the wealthy. that's bologna. the american people are enjoying this, over 90% of americans are getting a tax cut, an increase in pay, and i don't think they want to go in reverse. they want this country to keep going in the direction that it's going liz. liz: congressman babbin, love having you on sir you're fired up and passionate. thank you so much for your comments, sir. >> thank you, liz. liz: moving on to business headlines as hurricane florence charges toward the east coast, home depot and lowe's are seeing their sales jump as consumers flock to their stores in preparation. look at the stocks popping as well. and from homebuilding to car building look at this story

three new iphones to something new on the apple watch series 4, the ipad and also a low cost mac book and power pad that can charge everything wireless all at the same time. so those are some of the rumors that we'll hear from on apple. the rest of the tech titans all to the upside and some of the hurricane-related stuff are moving ahead of hurricane florence barreling up the east coast. back to you. liz: great to see you nicole, 10,000 9/11 rescuers and first responders now diagnosed with some form of cancer. tonight doc siegel here on what he says is an emerging and continuing health crisis for our nation's heros. also tonight, former dirty jobs host mike roe calling out nike saying this 9/11 hero should be the feature of its new sacrifice campaign and not colin kaepernick but first on the 17th anniversary of september 11, msnbc host appears to be probably possibly, rather,

5:19 pm
meaning you, pay for all of the costs of healthcare even socialistic paradises like denmark and sweden don't do what bernie is asking for. consumer there pay a big portion of their health cost out of pocket and obama now wants to get rid of the corporate tax cuts that have brought back into the country $300 billion in cash that was parked overseas according to the federal reserve obama wants to return to obama- era stagnation and also backs sanders free college with no check free money for colleges out of control tuition spending, that would cause you at least 75 billion bucks a year. let's bring in george w. bush former deputy assistant brad blakeman. brad your reaction to this. >> president obama should be ashamed of himself to reappear and to take credit for the economy in one breath and then claim that you embrace the socialistic democratic platform on the other, you know if it wasn't for the trump tax cuts we wouldn't be seeing kind of prosperity we're seeing today. small business confidence is through the roof.
5:20 pm
medium household income up 4%. blue collar benefits and wages up more than has been in 10 years. we're seeing more small businesses starting in america. this all can betrayed back to the trump tax plan and economic policy of deregulation. you can't take in one hand, mr. obama, credit for the economy based on tax cuts and then to the socialism in the next. liz: if he's going to take credit for the economy that means he's for the tax cuts. >> absolutely. liz: you know what's interesting brad all of the naysayers when trump was elected talking larry summers, mark cuban, msnbc anchors, my question to them is did any of you sell your stocks when you were saying the world was going to crash because trump was elected? >> hell no they didn't, because they know what the effect is when more money is put in the hands of the private sector than us sending money to the government to spend for us. the tax plan has worked. its worked across-the-board and
5:21 pm
if i were in the rnc my strategy would be the slogan for the mid-terms should be, you can't argue with success because you can't. liz: brad quickly tell us your memory of 9/11. you were there with president george w. bush. i want to get to this next story but quickly share with us what is your distinct memory of that day? >> well i was in the west wing. we were told flight 93 was coming for the white house. we were evacuated. i was responsible for 150 people in an off site location. my sister was calling me because her son was missing. he died saving people in the south tower. my brother was calling me because he was a board member of the port authority of new york and new jersey which own the trade center and i was responsible for staff. i saw people rise to the occasion. i.c.e. was surrounded by patriot peers, i was surrounded with a president who thought about america first and i was probably the first one he ever told that he was going to find the people and bring them to justice when he found out my nephew was
5:22 pm
missing. liz: wow, brad that's quite a story you just shared. i hate to be personal, forgive me but i think of my sister who married a fireman two days before 9/11 and my brother-in-law had to dig out his brother-in-law but we've got joe scarboro on this day saying president trump is a greater threat to america than terrorists brad. i want your reaction to this. >> outrageous. >> the retweeting of nazi videos, charlottesville i could go on and on, what he said about majority of black countries, that is tearing more at the fabric of america than than attacks on the twin towers did. we rebuilt from that. we became stronger because of that, but this seems to me a far graver threat to the idea of america. liz: you know, people can see what joe scarborough is saying but people are upset he's saying
5:23 pm
trump is worst than terrorists here are a lot of people saying they're upset. national review writer is tweet ing out, "i don't care if you don't like trump and think he's bad for the country. you owe an apologize for this to the thousands of families that lost loved ones 17 years ago today and to every american, frankly." i mean what's your reaction to what alexandra desanctis is saying? >> well as an american who lost a close family member as a rescue person in 9/11 i say shame on you for anybody to politicize an attack on america is beyond. i'm glad he apologize but never should have said it in the first place. liz: well it looks like joe in a series of tweets is trying to walk back what he said. here is a tweet. "i should have shown more care on the tweets wording and the conclusion, i'll read the column again and think about whether i could have said the same thing in a way less offensive to trump supporters and september 11".
5:24 pm
so what do you make of his slide walkback there? >> no this is about offending america. this is about offending every american and every person and family member who has to now live with the fact that their family is no longer here because of their sacrifice for the nation. we don't politicize tragedy. we learn from it. we rise from it, as americans together, no matter who we are. liz: and we appreciate your personal story there, brad blake man. there's so many people whose lives were touched by this event thank you so much and we're sorry for your loss, brad. >> thank you. liz: thank you for your service to the countries. as we commemorate september 11 a new threat from the leader of al qaeda calling for unity among the jihadis around the world to attack the u.s. but first fox news channel tucker carlson has corporate insight e-mail showing google executives efforts to get out and vote for hillary clinton in 2016. we're going to show them to you next, stay there. >> this wasn't a get out the vote effort, whatever they say. it was aimed at all potential
5:25 pm
voters it wasn't even aimed at a balanced cross section of sub groups. google didn't try to get out the vote among say christian arabs in michigan, they sometimes vote republican. it was aimed only at one group, a group that google assumed would vote exclusively for the democratic party. hi, i'm joan lunden with a place for mom,

together we'll make the right choice. liz: fox news tucker carlson has received internal corporate e-mails that show google executives efforts to get out the hispanic vote for hillary clinton in 2016. the e-mails said "we worked very hard many people did, we pushed to get out the latino vote with our partners and our voices. we also supported partners like to pay for rise to the polls in key states." we even helped them create ad campaigns to promote the rise let's take a check of alphabet the parent of google the stock ending the day in the green let's bring in republican stat a just ford o connell and ford your reaction?
5:29 pm
>> well look, i find this problematic contrary to the democrats in the media the russians are not the only one trying to interfere in u.s. elections we have actors both foreign and domestic and the second thing is that is tech companies and social media companies can do far more damage than the russians to sway an election and there's no way to monitor them. liz: wendy the e-mail went on to say that google was tracking voter queries in states like florida and nevada and then it had a "influencer campaign with partners like youtube and others what's your take on all of this? >> i think that we have to look at this as a big picture right? they were trying to get out the vote for latino voters and now this e-mail seems like the personal reflection of an individual because google has come out and said this is not their stance. they wanted to get out the vote but they didn't have a preference for one candidate or another so to compare this to russia is not an analogy because it's not the same thing. >> wendy i disagree with you.
5:30 pm
>> let me finish. liz: go ahead wendy finish. >> i just want to make sure that we are looking at this from the right lens saying yes they want to get the latino vote we've seen that in almost every major election where you try to get out the latino vote. liz: it's weird that google is in the hot seat for having so much influence, go ahead ford. >> the other thing is if you look deeply into the four pages of e-mails that tucker carlson has it tells you it's not about just trying to turn out the vote for latinos. it's a very successful campaign because hillary clinton numbers in arizona, florida, nevada were better than barack obama's you want to get i've got the numbers right here. secondly -- liz: go ahead quickly. >> it was a partisan campaign. they tell you that in the e-mail they wanted hillary clinton to win. >> google said they don't want hillary clinton to win. liz: don't talk over each other. colin kaepernick's nicole: ads still causing controversy and mike roe using that saying do you know what nike pay
5:31 pm
tribute to a september 11 hero who was on board flight 93 and he basically this hero helped foil the hijacker's plan to crash that plane into the white house or the capitol building here is mike roe writing on facebook if i was going to someone's face on a billboard, i might have gone another way especially this time of the year i might have gone with this guy, who was on that flight. what's your reaction, ford? >> i tip my hat to mike rowe. these are the true heros and the threat is not gone and my problem with the kaepernick ad is it does not promote colin kaepernick and creating more division in this country. liz: wendy what's your take? >> my take is that colin kaepernick is a hero. if you look at criminal justice reform we see 80% of drug convictions are black and la latino so yes colin kaepernick is a hero. he stands up for people and speaks for communities of color
5:32 pm
makes sure this issue continues to be at the forefront so yes we can have two heros at the same time it doesn't have to be one or the other. liz: ford, wendy you'll be back thank you for your thoughts there as we commemorate september 11 a new threat from the leader of al qaeda calling for unity among the jihadis around the world talking about attacking the u.s. again. we're bringing in former u.s. army deputy assistant secretary and he's the author of the new book, the new terrorism, joining me next. was a failure of imagination. we're always responding to that last attack rather than thinking outside the box to prevent the next one but that's why i've been a big advocate of the network which is an independent agency of our government, it's not american propaganda but it's exposing young people in that part of the world to western values and ideals and we've got to work more with reformed muslims people like king jordan who go back a few years would he complain to our congress and our government is not giving him what he needed to take the fight we needed to work more with people like him and also i'm concerned about social media. they use it as a recruiting tool i call for the establishment of a situation awareness hot line, separate from 911 so if you see something suspicious on facebook or twitter or even instagram, you could text a photo in realtime to a database that our law enforcement community would have here in this country to compare to what they have in
5:40 pm
their terrorist database and link up with our state emergency management directors so they could respond to a terrorist attack and certainly improve situational awareness during an attack. these are the kinds of common sense things that we've got to do and think outside the box. liz: let's move on to the next story the first two american service members have been identified in the 55 boxes of korean war remains that north korea handed over in july. the soldier's identity will be officially announced in the coming days, after their relatives are informed. this as the u.s. is preparing for a second summit between president trump and north korean leader kim jong-un after kim sent a letter to the president xiing to meet. is it, it is reassuring the remains are starting to be identified, the pain of those families over the decade. your take on that and also the progress in the north korea talks. >> it's a painstaking process, i think it's a good step in the right direction look at the big north korea parade this weekend,
5:41 pm
the icbm's nuclear imagery we've got a long ways to go but i will say this. look at what we had before. this president through a combination i think of strength but also personal diplomacy had a style of what i call one on one engagement that's made a difference and it's at least brought him to the table but we've got a long ways to go. if we're going to get to denuclearization and the administration has to be careful about this the old north korean tactic is that old wait them out game let's wait out this administration and there will be another administration and i think with a national security advisor like john bolton he's seen this movie before he gets it but if we'll have real denuclearization, we're going to have to have thousands of nuclear experts on the ground that quite frankly, the iaea doesn't even have right now , so it's a long process to go forward on, but the key is going to be this president has to watch out for kim jong-un and the north koreans play that old tactic of waiting them out. liz: okay, van hipp, great to
5:42 pm
see you come back soon. >> thank you. liz: september 11 rescuers and first responders now nearing 10,000 diagnosed with some form of cancer. coming up doc siegel is here and what he says is a continuing and now bigger emerging health crisis, but first, washington post giving california democrats for posting a misleading sound bite that was edited back, that sound bite from supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh we'll break it down for you next, stay there. (guard) i've seen things i shouldn't have.

and butch.aura. and tank. and tiny. and this is laura's mobile dog grooming palace. laura can clean up a retriever that rolled in foxtails, but she's not much on "articles of organization." articles of what? so, she turned to legalzoom. they helped me out. she means we helped with her llc, trademark, and a lot of other legal stuff that's a part of running a business. so laura can get back to the dogs. would you sit still? this is laura's mobile dog grooming palace and this is where life meets legal.
5:45 pm
liz: welcome back. washington post gave california democrat harris for editing back a sound bite of brett kavanaugh 's comments about " abortion-inducing drugs." it looks like camilla harris selective editing of the supreme court nominee's testimony what happened was it makes the sound like kavanaugh is against birth control. he was answering a question from
5:46 pm
senator ted cruz about a catholic group's opposition and here is the edited version. watch. >> the form would make them in the provision of the abortion- inducing drugs that they were as a religious matter objected to. liz: so that started with the words "filling out the form." harris, though, cut the first two words that kavanaugh actually said, at the beginning of that sentence. kavanaugh started out the sentence saying, they said, referring to a catholic non- profit called priest for life, which argued they should not be forced by the government under obamacare to provide women with contraceptive coverage. that would be pushed by the u.s. government to do that. they didn't want to do that for religious reasons they objected it. harris then wrote a caption under the edited back video saying, in part, kavanaugh chooses his words very carefully this is a dog whistle for going afterbirth control. back with me ford o connell and
5:47 pm
wendy. you know, ford sitting aside the issue of birth control a lot of republican women are for birth control what's your take on this selective editing? >> well look the only one dog whistling here is kamala harris and her attempt to catwalk the way to the 2020 presidential nomination is one of the lowest things i've seen yet in terms of driving emotion and when liberal fact checkers give you dishonesty on a democrat it has to be something and obviously it was. liz: you know, wendy, kamilla harris' social media post has been liked more than 30,000 times retweeted more than 15,000 types that's the edited clip what's your take in seeing" id the clip and not the correct clip? >> well my take remains the same because what we know for a fact is that kavanaugh -- liz: but this was misleading. >> it can be misleading. liz: but she edited out the words. >> but kavanaugh has yet to state what --
5:48 pm
liz: are you okay with the editing? >> i'm not okay with the editing but i'm not okay with kavanaugh going to a life long position when he has yet to say whether his views on women's reproductive rights. he has not stated his views on a ca, and his views on executive power. this is someone whose going to have a lifetime position and we need to know exactly what his views are and until he states what they are he has no place sitting at the bench. liz: wait a minute. ford isn't that the biden rule for ruth bader ginsberg, when ship was a litigate or said yes legalize prostitution and joe biden said in the 93 confirmation for her, she doesn't have to tell her personal views. i hear what wendy is saying. >> let's understand this it's really all about kamilla harris trying to win the democratic nomination and further as a california attorney general what she is doing is down right misleading okay? >> no it's not. liz: wait a second wendy. >> i'm a lawyer and kamilla harris is a lawyer and
5:49 pm
to go out there and say he's talking about endorsing abortion inducing drugs the way the law works she's totally misleading the audience for her own personal gain and we know that. liz: wendy your take. >> let's be clear, if kamala harris wins the democratic nomination she will only be in the office for a maximum of eight years if kavanaugh is seated at the bench it's a life long position so if we weigh this out ford who has the most authority here? liz: final word, ford. >> the job is to advice and he's qualified, he becomes the next supreme court justice and that's how elections work. liz: remember sandra day o'connor was the vote for roe v. wade. we don't know how they are going to vote when they put on those reasons for life. you've been traffic thank you so much. >> thank you. liz: 10,000 9/11 rescuers and first responders now diagnosed with some form of cancer next doc siegel is here in what he calls an emerging health crisis for our 9/11, our nation's heros >> maybe it was the worst day

5:54 pm
siegel. doc, i'm so grateful you're here on a personal level my sister's brother-in-law, chris, kathy married a fireman two days before 9/11 and you're seeing a picture of chuck mendez, kathy's brother-in-law was chuck mendez and he was a fireman who died in 9/11 and his body was recovered new years eve from the world trade center and carried out by his friend, my brother-in-law but we've got a lot of firemen in the family, we don't like talking about personal stuff but there is this ongoing conversation about the illnesses still ongoing from 9/11. can you walk us through that? >> well there was 400 tons of asbestos there in the buildings and fiberglass and the air was full of it, and christy widman said at the time post- 9/11 the air is clean. the air was not clean as we're really starting to find out now with 10,000 cancer as you already said there were 90,000 first responders, as you mentioned 43,000 health problems including asthma, including
5:55 pm
reflux, including bone problems, cancers. with that asbestos we're going to see a ton of lung cancer in the future and we're seeing cancers that we're not expecting kidney, breast, in men, things that you're not expecting things definitely linked to this exposure and people weren't ready. the world trade center registry already has 55,000 first responders and 20,000 survivors but liz the bigger story is 400,000 people in the area that were exposed to toxic fumes. liz: listen what's important is that a lot of money was donated to help the firemen. the firemen are really worried. to my mind firemen and cops should get way more in pension so should teachers. is there enough money in these funds that were in donations that for 9/11 funds to cover these illnesses? >> absolutely not. the world trade center registry health registry is good for 75 years but the vick tip's compensation fund runs out after 2020. i'm making a big plea to congress right now please extend
5:56 pm
it. after 2020 is when we're really going to start seeing a surge of cancers because cancers take 10 years in many cases we need a lot more money, 4 billion out of 7 billion has already been spent we need double that. liz: some rescuers that day said you could taste the air. the medical community were they surprised that the hazardous health effects on the day of 9/11? >> they weren't surprised but i think we were surprised at the extent of this. we've been following firefighters ever since and i've seen more and more cancers develop again, asthma, more and more health problems linked we decided in the first year after 9/11 this was a problem, we never knew it was going to be this extent but imagine what this is, burning asbestos in the air. and that's a carcinogen. that causes lung cancer and we're seeing results now. liz: doc siegel we love having you on thank you so much. >> we need money from our survivors and firemen. liz: and for our cops and teachers thank you so much. let's get back to that dangerous cat 4 hurricane florence set to
5:57 pm
hit the east coast in just a couple days more on that after the break. stay there. the fact is, there are over ninety-six hundred roads named "park" in the u.s. it's america's most popular street name. but allstate agents know that's where the similarity stops. if you're on park street in reno, nevada, the high winds of the washoe zephyr could damage your siding. and that's very different than living on park ave in sheboygan, wisconsin, where ice dams could cause water damage. but no matter what park you live on, one of 10,000 local allstate agents knows yours. .. hi, i'm joan lunden with a place for mom,
