5:29 am
argument is focused on the fact that kavanaugh and dr. ford were not again independently interviewed by the fbi. but in my view we already have sworn testimony on the record. the need to go back and conduct that whole interview might not be necessary. if we see the report and there's something that needs to be followed up on based on new evidence that was collected. maybe go back and ask for more. the fact that they were not interviewed by the fbi at this moment does not necessarily impact the credibility of that report. the argument does not hold water. >> the deputy white house spokesperson said look, over 1200 questions have been answered for the record. half a million pages of documents we did an
5:30 am
investigation. this is our seventh when we looked into judge cavanagh. do you see that they've asked for the polygraph information. the notes that they gave it to her. if we don't get that. what is the point of talking to dr. ford. i think what her testimony that came in on the record. answered a lot of the questions that would be asked. we know the answers. many of those questions she does not have an answer too. you're absolutely right. without the polygraph results. or a video. where the doctors notes. if those are going to be turned over. the testimony is really enough to start an springboard of the investigation. we are expecting a confirmation vote this weekend. of course you have a trio of holdouts here. there is a chance that a democratic senator and it red state that they vote for him. this is can be a nailbiter and
5:31 am
if judge cavanagh is confirmed 35 years in the senate. this will be the biggest victory of his life. we are looking to be sitting with bated breath to see what happens here because again, the whole issue comes down to credibility. each senator is can have to make that assessment. the three senators and the republican side. we don't really know which way they can ago at this point. i'm not surprised about the white house conclusion that there is nothing to cooperate these allegations. i did not expect a smoking gun to come out in the context of this investigation. we will see what happens when it comes down to the confirmation hearing. >> thank you. the central bank raised interest rates by a quarter point yesterday. he sees no need to drop the gradual approach.
5:32 am
let's bring in mitch rochelle. good morning cheryl. let's talk about this. it seems like it's a double whammy. the mortgage rates have jumped in the last few weeks. the interest rates on should be concerned about the economy and the consumer. if you look at how interest rates have gone up over the course of the last year. that's about $100 per month. that second a slow down slow down the economy. the bigger issue with housing as prices are going up. that's probably a bigger issue for housing.
5:33 am
if i look at it from a consumer perspective credit card debt is going up. and other forms of debt it will be a drag that we can see over time. let's move on to the trade war. they have tariffs on them now. those prices are going to be going up. does that were you. there has to be a reason why i don't sleep at night. i do think so. we are entering the holiday season. so much of the stuff that is bought for kids and all american consumers is imported. and a lot of that stuff is from china. we will see it and companies had been very clear. there get up past -- passes. in fact of the the book they came out with the last quarter
5:34 am
commented on the fact that this could be a drag on the economy. the increased input cost that business and consumers are paying. we talk about what their pain at the store. you oil about 76 and change. while at 7624. >> if you talk to traders and there's been a lot of talk about this they are betting on hundred dollar barrel oil. that's because of the sanctions on iran. there are some distribution challenges. all of that can be a tax on business and if you have all of the things and you add them up. they become inflationary. it is the fed worried about
5:35 am
inflation if it goes above that magic 2% level that they're trying to hold at. they begin to raise rates more and then we get into the spiraling effect. the key meeting is can beat the december meeting. that's starting to creep up in the feds future market. no problem cheryl. >> as senator is cooking up another radical plan this time to possibly break up the big banks. good morning tracy. they have a total exposure of greater than 3% of growth.
5:36 am
it's about $584 million to break up. six banks and four non- banks would have to split up. they believe no financial institution should be so large that its failure would cause catastrophic risk 2 million of americans. she was not successful. just pointing that out. tesla's work environment is being scrutinized again. we print a lot about this. they are now facing allegations that the foreign workers at the california assembly plan work launch shifts that violated the forced labor laws and were threatened with deportation if they reported an injury. they had rolled that that two cases against them will now move to trial. it investigated the claims and broke ties with a subcontractor for this alleged behavior. victims of the recent facebook

5:43 am
in the republican strategist. i want to start with you. we have not had a republican senator since 1988 why are the democrats so focused on turning the seat the national party there is a number of reasons. she is doing really well among veterans. as well as seniors as well. and it's important seat for us to get because we have a lot of issues that are writing on whether or not the senate is in the democratic hand. we are focusing on this is can be a good race for it. they have a tight hold on the senate right now. why has this race taken on national importance.
5:44 am
the democrats know that if they have any chance to flip the senate majority it goes through nevada and arizona. and literally the firewall race to make sure that elizabeth warren and all of their friends are not in charge come january. that's why this is so high consequence not just for arizona and the country. >> justin, does she have a point here. >> she does but overall i don't think that the senate is in dire jeopardy of going democratic. i think frankly yes. in arizona. it's too close to call. there's no question about that. other way says -- races compensate for that. there could be ones that go republican. they would be more reliably
5:45 am
democratic. i don't think they lose the senate. and the polling was really interesting. it revealed a heightened public enthusiasm. i think that's what really drives the election for this. the reason i wanted to point out arizona is because there has not been a democratic senator since 1988. alas a lot of it is national money. they're not trying to make any mistakes. i want to talk about marsha blackburn. she's a congresswoman obviously. nashville mayor and if you look at the local politics. they actually have a lot of support from a local level do you think that's enough. even though he is trailing at the polls. i think it does. and the fact that they are

think this shows itself in tennessee. i believe, that the candidate would be able to surround those items. will see if it is enough to push blackburn into senator corker's seat. from politics to sports that's what we had coming up. they slam up 440-yard homer. but was that enough. to put them in the playoffs. it can accost tom wilson some pretty big bucks. they strike above 2.2 percent.
