rise to multiyear highs. and manager and marcus treasurer joins us now to discuss we see bond market michael reopening we see a three and quarter percent tenure yield how serious of a threat is this or for the stock market? >> i think it could does a temporary destruction but long-term this is a very good thing when your interest rates are ultra low it essentially says your economy has no growth and no inflation. okay, run away inflation isn't good but no inflation is worse. take a look at japan and where japan has been for the last decade this could cause a temporary disruption but i believe believe it is a buying opportunity we saw this in late january that -- as economy started to heat up rates started to tick out stock markets sold out and back up at the high. >> now people are worried that you know, okay, it's high per interest rates but it is also a trade war possibly. so you put them together that's not good. >> well, look, definitely some headline risk. but as we've seen with canada,

exposure. what -- how do you think he's going to start his time at the supreme court? based on everything that's happened with him? >> based on everything that's happened i think what we're going to see is a very unbiased, nonpoliticized judge and this is what judge kavanaugh has said from the beginning despite what we saw is the politicized process during his hearing. he said he's going to uphold the constitution. he's going to respect precedent that he's not going to act like a legislature from the bench as a justice is not supposed to be in that position -- politicize the bench and that was -- >> absolutely critics have said he's a ply charged justice. butlet listen to him and his own words about how he wants to move forward. >> although the confirmation process tested me as it has tested others it did not change me. my approach to judges remains the same. a good judge must be an umpire

neutral and impartial decider who favors no litigant or policy. >> you know, he says it doesn't change him as a judge but there was a lot of question about his temperament because he was frankly emotional when he was defending himself. >> he did. but remember that was in the context of an accusation against him undoubtedly emotional experience he's going to put that robe on, and he's going to forget that -- that personal the personal issue that he had during the course of that hearing. i believe that, and that i think he said it so eloquently yesterday in his swearing in ceremony that look his legacy is going to be the decisions he make from the bench. not the -- what was in that hearing. >> i will say curious what you think justice roberts will do if roberts will try to avoid more controversial are cases. because there's -- lower court cases from kansas and also from louisiana that do involve stripping pupgding for planned parenthood do you think

lauren. >> thanks well there's clearly energy on both sides that's putting texas senate and some house races in jeopardy as a blue wave take a look at the 7th district in texas. nine term congressman john a race against his life and fox news is labeling this race a tossup. to explain some of the shifting sentiment is matt. matt, good morning. you know -- why are these race it is in red texas not easy win this is time arranged for republicans? >> it is a good question. there are three congressional issues in texas that are in play this cycle all districts that hillary clinton won two years ago one in san antonio is likely to stay republican. other two is the sessions where pence was campaigning yesterday and seat in houston. all three again were won by hillary clinton all three have had the particularly the dow have had demographic changes that have made them more competitive for in democrats so

look, i think both culver son and sessions knew they were in toughs races this cycle. they both have -- candidates running against them that the democrats recruited, in fact, democratic congressional campaign compete threw in behind their candidate against a more progressive candidate in the primary. angering progressives so this is a race down in houston i think the poll weeks ago had him up 48, 45. but this is a -- suburban district and they have to pick it up to take majority back. >> let's see how trade plays out but texas has soybean, to then and a lot of oil. i spoke with congressman john on trade. >> houston is to kiewrt industry so the the oil and gas companies i represent are very concerned about rising cost of steel, about their inability to get specialized steel products, but china has been cheating for years.

china has dumped -- low -- low price steel has dumped all kinds of products into the u.s. market. >> houston sits on frontlines not much trump trade war, when your job son the line does that change how you vote? >> well it adds pressure certainly. and i'm sure when you're in a vulnerable seat you're getting pressure from both sides all of the time so it is a very intense position to be in. but you know that package you put together is exactly right. houston is the oil and gas capitol of the united states perhaps even of the world. trade has been very important to that industry and to that city for a very long time. the recent news just last week that the mexico canada trade deal nafta 2.0 successfully negotiated is a very good thing, and as congressman culverson pingt out focussings on china sing a very good area for -- for the white house to focus on in terms of trade practices. performing all right matt thank
