investors were so disappointed because subscriber growth did not look strong and here we are rebounding again is a third more than wall street had expected. new content really helped out. at the stronger the stronger growth internationally than expected. netflix is spending billions of dollars to create new content. this is a kind of thing that is fueling that growth. how long can they sustain this. especially when you consider as it they have more 70 competitors out there. that just want to spend as much. they are trying to contain -- contain their own content.
5:16 am
those other places such as warner bros. and disney they want to create their own direct content services to customers. netflix really needs to spend this kind of money to create the content that consumers can only get at netflix. will they be able to do that. can they overcome that hurdle. one of the things they have going for them as the international growth. a lot of that growth this past quarter i've seen some analysis of trying to figure where they're doing them. they don't break out the markets. they suggested that there was a lot of google searching in india for how to get them that. during the quarter they launched some india specific programming.
5:17 am
interesting stuff. it's amazing to me how they can turn this over to new countries all the time but even that growth could ultimately be capped. before you go, i want to ask you the company said they will no longer report the number of people assigning up for free trials. as i a red flag at all in your mind. they were trying to suggest that some of the uncertainty was because of the uncertainty in the guidance. well had to wait and see. i would just like people to tell us what's going on. of course we will be watching a lot of stocks today. and actually goes a little bit lower. after that big selloff. saudi arabia promise of true parent investigation.

great to have you here. great to be here the day after stocks. the tech sector which was leading the selloff. netflix could fuel the momentum. the stock is surging in the premarket after a strong's earnings report. david what about that. can netflix a set off set up a tech boom here. it is a good catalyst with the strong numbers that they reported. i actually think the story is even bigger than netflix. overall what we've seen was fueled by a few things. mainly earnings. but when it is all said and done. third-quarter earnings should be about 22 percent. it would be the third consecutive quarter of 20's% growth for the market.

i think there is some uncertainty with the midterm elections. but since 1946. the markets have never been negative. i think we will continue to see a rally to the end of the year. i think we will have them see all-time highs. thanks for having me. secretary of state mike pompeo's meeting with officials. they continued their investigation. joining me now is the senior fellow daniel davis. this is a big and really tough spot that it's founded in. they are going to a transparent investigation, do we believe them.
5:33 am
we have to certainly go down that path. i think the most important thing for us to recognize at this point is i've heard a number of republican senators on fox in the last couple of days we certainly can get herself locked into a situation where we have an economic interest with saudi arabia. we can't risk a hundred billion dollars of trade. we have greater interest than just any transaction. you have to look after american interest first and we can just turn a blind eye to something that one of our friends in the region might be doing. on the back of that to your point if the administration does not act then congress well. i want you to listen to what president trump told our own trish regan last night about why they are taking a wait and see approach.
