tv   Lou Dobbs Tonight  FOX Business  October 21, 2018 11:00pm-12:00am EDT

11:00 pm
>> lou: good evening, everybody. our top story. the caravan of central american migrants trying to get to the u.s. border is exploding in numbers and size. becoming a full-blown international crisis for the governments of honduras, guatemala and mexico. as for the united states, much depends on what happens over the next several days. president trump says if these countries do nothing to stop the caravan streaming in the united states, he will call on the military to close the southern border.
11:01 pm
we take it up tonight. congressman biggs and angel mendoza whose son was killed by illegal ill grant and the "washington post" opinion editor charlie hurt among our guests. also tonight the f.b.i. former top attorney testifies about rod rosenstein's plan to wear a wire and record president trump in the white house. james baker's testimony behind closed doors has one demanding that rosenstein resign and resign now. >> i think it's time that rod rosenstein steps down. he should do so immediately. and then doing that, i think it would serve the country well, the serve the president well. it's time that we eventually get to the truth of the matter. >> lou: investigative journalist sarah carter joins me tonight and we will talk about the latest developments and president trump on his way

to missoula, montana, there to rally support for rosendale locked in a tight and a bitter contest against the arrogant wheezal incumbent -- weasel incumbent john tester. >> president trump: we have doing a rally for matt rosendale who is a fantastic man. he is doing very well. we will be talking some pretty tough things about senator tester who has been a disaster. a disaster for montana. >> lou: the top story tonight the caravan of 4,000 central americans from honduras has traveled through guatemala and poised to cross to mexico. the leading edge of that caravan is in guatemala. once over the border they face a journey of more than 1200 miles to reach brownsville, texas. the closest point where they
11:03 pm
are now on the southern border of mexico. earlier today, the mexican government dispatched additional police to the southern border and they warned the vary can that mexico will not permit them to enter mexico without a passport and visa. it's unclear whether mexican government officials are responding to president trump's request that guatemala and mexico stop the caravan before it gets near the united states and the president makes it clear he will order the military to the boarder if the vary can is allowed to approach to the border. in addition to stopping payment to the country the president ordered that that be considered immediately. and it seems that the country seem to have almost no control over their population. he tweeted, he said i must in the strongest of terms ask mexico to stop this onslaught. if unable to do so, i will call up the u.s. military and close our southern border.
11:04 pm
the united states faces without any doubt historic immigration crisis as a result of the open border policies of former presidents bush and obama. the latest study puts the number of the illegal immigrants now in the united states higher. twice as high in fact. as previous estimates. the yale m.i.t. study estimating more than 22 million illegal immigrants are now in this country. perhaps as many as 30 million. this is according to the yale m.i.t. study. the first done in a decade. the president is ready to act alone, obviously, if mexico doesn't take responsibility for assuring the integrity of the own borders. and the safety of its own citizens. this crisis created by our radical dimms who insist on open borders. crime. coexistence with a mexican

immigrants and free flow of the drugs, heroin, cocaine, you name it, across the border from mexico. >> you are right. secretary nielsen needs to get in there and clean house. the people running the border patrol, some of them were the ark techs of the catch and release program for pete's sakes. i don't understand what is going on there. she should have been fighting for the restoration of the money for the border patrol agents. you have an invasion coming over every day and organized invasion from the central american states. at the same time, we have the border patrol stations in arizona that are 50% of the complement because the morale is so low. it's low because we haven't supported them -- >> lou: you are talking about the high turnover amongst the border patrol? >> yes. it's a tough job. the morale, depth not seen in

ages. the dimensions of the problem, whether it's the business round table, the chamber of commerce, the koch brothers, wall street. they are perfectly willing to lie about the numbers of illegal immigrants in this country. using the same number we used a decade ago. 11 million illegal immigrants. the yale m.i.t. study saying unequivocally, at least 22 million. as high as 30 million in this country. that throws into -- it's upheaval of the estimates of the cost. of what we are spending on the welfare. on social programs. on education. for illegal immigrants in this country. it is stunning what the business establishment, the left wing, the radical democratic party. the bush administration.
11:08 pm
they do jobs americans won't do. pure and utter nonsense. where do we go from here? >> you are right. one of the problems is they use the static numbers when we know we are catching people and get-aways four times as many people as who we apprehend. they used to work seasonally and go home. a different animal altogether. if we don't build a border wall and secure the southern border we will lose our sovereignty. you won't have a border. >> lou: that was the plan at one time. the north american union. george bush wasn't worried or condoleeza rice about what was hamming because they meant to, quote/unquote, harmonize the border with canada and mexico.
11:09 pm
we have seen two different presidents, bush and obama do to the sovereignty. the president said, congressman, if mexico does not respond to his request, he will order the u.s. military to the southern board and shut it down to stop the onslaught as he calls it. it is at least that. we have a million people entering the country legally every year in chain migration. we have a million crossing that border. the estimates range from 600 to 1 million. we have no idea. illegal into the country. we are spending a fortune. it's unconscionable about what has happened. what are your thoughts about the president's declaration? >> i think he needs to do it. i support it. i will tell you why. we need more personnel on the border today. we have a barrier that the people -- you can watch videos. people can get down and they
11:10 pm
are hurting themselves jumping down. what we see is a lot of people coming over. people are claiming asylum. we need a presence on the border stout with the military. that is a good thing. it's necessary. i think president trump instincts are correct on this. this is a national security issue. some of the people coming across are not the, you know, the most whole some of people some of them. >> some of them. in point of fact these are people who for the most part minimally educated. they have minimal skills if any. central america and mexico have been exporting their poor to this country and it has got to stop. we cannot afford it. it's one thing if the country were not a welfare society now. every one of the illegal

immigrants enters and is immediately entitled to education. to welfare and all sort of social programs. it's stunning what it cost. >> absolutely. >> lou: congressman, as always it's good to see you. >> good to be with you. >> lou: what is your bet on mexico? will they help? >> i think they are going to help. i think president trump is leveraging them. we signed a new trade agreement. i think they will step in a little bit but i think they are asive and more people will keep coming but they will put some help forth. >> lou: andrés manuel lópez obrador represents a real opportunity as the new president of mexico. come december. i think he represents a real opportunity to find a partner who will be responsible and treat the border and people on both sides of the border with respect for a new millennia, we hope. >> hope so.
11:12 pm
>> lou: great to see you. andy biggs. coming up, the trump administration reaching an historic deal with mexico on how to handle the growing caravan of central americans two were headed to the united states from central america. guess what? president trump has just thrown the left a major, major curveball. he has flipped the left and the radical dimms on their head. we take it up with angel mom maryanne mendoza and charlie hurt. stay with us. we'll be right back. i'm ken jacobus, i'm the owner of good start packaging. we distribute environmentally-friendly packaging for restaurants. and we've grown substantially. so i switched to the spark cash card from capital one. i earn unlimited 2% cash back on everything i buy. and last year, i earned $36,000 in cash back. that's right, $36,000. which i used to offer health insurance to my employees.

11:19 pm
part of guatemala. they are not likely to advance further according to this deal with mexico. what is your reaction? >> bravo. this is why the american people elected trump into office to pull something off like this. we have waited for decades for the gutless senators and congressman, the democrats to step up and do something about illegal aliens invading our country. they have no interest in doing that. the majority of the americans are sick and tired of the issue having coverage when it is something that could be taken care of. that is what president trump is doing for the people. he is protecting us and stopping the invasion from happening. >> what has done for the radical dimms with the midterm elections 19 days away from this? they were planning on this caravan getting to our border and creating all sort of headaches and the great, great video for the left and for all
11:20 pm
of the radical dimm candidates, many of whom have contributed to the open borders and the immigration system that is as the president sose the laughing stock of the -- president says the laughing stock of the world. >> it is truly amazing. not only do you have democrats that don't claim to have, so many don't believe in trying to enforce the borders you have the republicans two give lip service to it. they have not done what they should have done to fix the problem before now. i can't help but think part of the reason we are at the position we are in now with mexico trying to enforce their southern border is because president trump is so unpredictable. nobody knows what he will do. they are not sure how far he will go. there is a good chance he might go up and tear up the newly signed -- >> lou: i don't think there is any doubt at all. do you really doubt it?
11:21 pm
>> no. but obviously that would with a huge thing to do, especially after having just finally gotten everybody together, to the table and signed. it is that concern about a guy that is that unple dickable that arrives at an interesting solution like this. >> as charlie says, this is a big deal. it would have been a big deal to tear up the agreement but a huge deal that we have 22, not the left business round table, the business establishment in this country peddling the nonsense that there were only 11 million illegal immigrants in the country for the past 15 years. we know better because a million come in the country nearly a million every year. this changes the ol gor rhythm and the cost about the impact
11:22 pm
in the society and other minority groups in the country as well. >> absolutely. this brings to light the percentage of the crimes committed by the illegals in the country. i know that the liberals' goal and whoever was funding the caravan, i know the goal was to have this big splash at the midterms. >> lou: yeah. >> and show the families separated again. i challenge the media to invite angel families to the border and let's have us all lined out with the pictures of our loved ones headstones and see how that tugs on the fellow americans' hearts. the family, the families are not separated forever. they have come willingly knowing what will happen to the families. we unfortunately have been ripped apart. >> lou: i hope the president and the member of the chamber of commerce, the business round table. all of the koch brothers and the koch brothers network and
11:23 pm
the folks that are on wall street, charlie, who have been underwriting the open borders and the destruction of immigration policies. i hope they are watching as president trump has turned them upside down and said to the radical dimms and chuck schumer and paul ryan basically go to hell. let me show you what a real leader does. his administration pulled it off. your thoughts as we close out here, charlie? >> which is why was resaid earlier even the republicans who pay lip service to it never done anything to fix the problem. one thing, this is a divisive issue for people. but one thing that everybody is united about in the country if you prevent a situation or have to separate children from the parents, that is a good thing. >> lou: charlie and marianne, thank you for being
11:24 pm
here. >> thank you. it's too bad, i just feel badly for marianne. a real leader in the office at any time over the course of the past 20 years. it would have made all the difference. just like president trump is making for this nation. up next, rod rosenstein set to appear before the house for the interview next week and already calls for him to resign. we take that up. everybody else involving the deep state. sara carter joins me next. stay with us. this is actually under your budget. it's great. mm-hmm. yeah, and when you move in, geico could help you save on renters' insurance! man 1: (behind wall) yep, geico helped me with renters insurance, too! um... the walls seem a bit thin... man 2: (behind wall) they are! and craig practices the accordion every night! says the guy who sings karaoke by himself. i'm a very shy singer. you're tone deaf! ehh... should we move on to the next one? it's a great building! you'll love it here! we have mixers every thursday. geico®. it's easy to switch and save

11:30 pm
it was explosive testimony again today. i know a little bit of what happened behind the closed doors. baker when asked over and over again the majority of the questions directed about rod rosenstein. the meeting with mccabe and lisa page, also an f.b.i. attorney who resigned since along with mccabe who was fired. they asked directly about rod rosenstein. when they asked him specifically how did you know is? how did you know for certain that, you know, mccabe believed rosenstein was serious? he said to them, by his words and by his actions. by his words and his actions. so apparently the f.b.i. conducted and did an actionable thing with the regard to what rosenstein was saying. this is what congress is so upset about. we know based on baker's testimony that they withheld,

the f.b.i. withheld exculpatory evidence related to the foreign intelligence surveillance court and the carter page fisa. now we know based on baker's testimony that rod rosenstein was serious about recording the president of the united states secretly, which is the reason why so many congressional members are saying look. especially meadows has come out to say it publicly. resign now. this has gone too far. your move in may of 2017 to secretly record the president crossed the line. but they will give them a chance to speak next week if he shows up. >> lou: the chance to speak next week, if i may on what you said, there seems to be an issue here that is still not resolveed. dana -- resolved. james baker is not without his hands in this as well but this
