the border with guatemala. if the caravan were to travel the 2400 miles to the north western city of tijuana, just below san diego, they would not arrive until late february. well after the november midterm elections. and another issue they might encounter is hurricane willa, the category three storm is expected to make landfall tonight 1000 miles off of the mexican west coast from the caravan. but the devastation it might leave behind could pose an issue for the thousands in that caravan. any of them are wearing flip-flops and already fighting blisters and pain that comes from walking great distances. just as they are how can anyone be expected to travel that journey safely? the wall street journal today reported the honduran government is claiming that social activists and leftist politician went as and other

campaigning on a merit based immigration system and yet, the democrats refused to follow some in your party as well refuse to follow the president's lead. >> the democrats are talking about abolishing i.c.e. you never want to secure the border. their nominee for president just two years ago said, she wanted a borderless hemisphere. so they don't get the comments is it that most americans understand, we have a right to control what goes on that border. we need, this underscores a simple fact we needed border security while just like president trump is talked about prayer just like he campaigned on, just like we campaigned on. most important, just like the american people elected us to do. but that will not happen if democrats take control of congress be we will never get it secure and will never get the border securitywall. >> it is to me, stunning to think that some of the likely

he said this campaign is about kavanaugh, the caravan and common sense. and i don't think one can argue with any of the three. >> look, i think these rallies help just by the nature of them. but secondly, when he focuses like that on those issues, and talks about the way he talks about them, he really spotlights them and those are issues that i think so far clearly breaking the republicans favor peer by him spotlighting them is really putting the pressure on the democrats to come up with some answers. then come up with it! for crying out loud. i mean there bernie sanders, elizabeth warren, they've got hillary clinton as you noted most recent in the column. that brings joy to the heart of -- well, at least the republican party. you can't be serious! >> i am. i think when you look at the democratic presidential field,

york, chief political corresponded for the washington examiner, fox business contributor, great to see you. just start with first, the violence against republicans by the left in the country. we've got a number of news organizations who want to paint this as some sort of duality. in which, it is a bipartisan issue. it is not. it is clearly not and it is clearly the violent rhetoric of the left. >> the most serious being the shooting attack that nearly killed representative steve scalise could have killed others, specifically, directed at republican politicians. a high-powered rifle attack, this was really serious and we can only hope nothing worse than that happens. lou: we do not have to hope. we can vote.and we can actually assure that none of them get into office. that is probably a reach too

far. none of them, we after all, reserve the two-party system. where do you see this election going? i think the president has put it straightforwardly correctly. in terms of motivation here. it is kavanaugh, caravan without any question in my judgment common sense. by the way, this, the president is being modest. his judgment and his intellect that he is bringing is not common at all. >> i was talking to some republican strategists in recent weeks and they were pretty encouraged by the after effects of the whole brett kavanaugh fight. not just in the senate, but also in the house. basically, really discrediting a lot of republicans. but those consultants and strategists who are working to try and keep the house republicans did say, we really could use one more thing. and everyone is wondering whether the caravan is that one more thing. it is just, so obviously

newsworthy. you have a mile long caravan of people, hoping to enter the united states illegally. give chuck schumer and nancy pelosi telling their candidates essentially to ignore it. because it is a distraction from the healthcare issue. and i think any voter with eyes can see it is just not going to fly. we still have got two weeks from today and we do not know how this will play out.lou: well, it seems to me that it is playing out remarkably well for the republicans. this president has tough decisions ahead of him, certainly, but he also has two opportunities here.one is to actually form the partnership that we thought might be or might have developed between obrador -- that didn't happen. he led the president's people

on, the president mexico, it looked like a partnership might be forming on the caravan. that did not happen. now, this is a country that has to defend its borders, this president saying, he will send as many troops as necessary to the border, the caravan he has declared, will not enter the united states. >> well, first of all, there are limits on what troops can do in a situation like this. also, it could be -- lou: you are not quite what people think, byron, to the point. it is our understanding and it is a clear one that those troops can even move into the mexico area at the president orders at the border for the purpose of defending. this is you know, all of the fancy legal minds that operate in washington frankly, need support because it is growing

into a mushroom of conventional thought. i think it needs to be corrected. >> also you can have extra ordinary situation.we have heard that this group is actually planning to take kind of the long route to the united states. to end up in tijuana and possibly entering california. which you know, california is a state that wants to think it is its own country. they want to have their own foreign policy. lou: the residence of california -- to negotiate that. >> i think this could set up an extra nearly interesting situation if in fact it comes to pass that these migrants are trying to enter the united states in california. the government of california does not want to do anything to stop them and the president of the states want to enforce federal law. it could be a really interesting situation.

lou: it is a difficult and needlessly difficult situation for this president.he is the commander-in-chief.the president and jerry brown frankly, is not in his league. it is not a contest that he would want, i would think. he's been over time, no matter what you think of the left wing, governor moonbeam, he is made some pretty good political judgments. i don't think that would include taking on the president of the united states. particularly this one. byron york, always good to talk with you. >> thank you, lou. lou: the supreme court challenging the trump and ms. jason's decision to add a question about citizenship to the 2020 census.can you imagine this? the lawsuit brought by -- organizations and 17 democratic leaning states. just plain blue states. concerned they say, the adding a citizenship question get ready, would discourage immigrants filling out the census because of the trump

wire on the president and we have not had him in an open hearing under oath to answer questions. i'm hopeful the fact that we've ended this little like behind closed doors pattycake game between the committee chairman and rod rosenstein, in fact we dispense with that. it means we will have more transparency in the process and more openness. but you know what? frankly, sometimes our own leadership and the other side, they want to keep jim jordan and mark meadows and matt gates out of the room. because where the was ask the tough questions and they don't want us to participate because it will provide the answers and we want to see where it leads. lou: along with devin nunes, you all have been spearheading the calls for the truth. imagine that! from the justice department from the fbi. by the way also from the fisa courts which appear to be complicit in the political corruption of the fbi and department of justice. i want to turn very quickly to what you think will happen next. are we going to ever see -- let me put it another way.are we going to see any results from

the rosenstein interview? before the midterm elections or have they successfully run out the clock on that as well? >> my fear is that there is a bipartisan desire to make no waves before the election. the democrats think they got the wind at their back. republicans think we ought to be quiet about everything other than tax cuts. as a matter what party wins or loses the election when it comes to our jobs as members of congress to do our oversight. whether rod rosenstein is fired or not fired, whether republicans win or lose, we should never have a government trying to unseat a duly elected president. that is what i will be fighting for. >> and in that, the caravan seems timely. whether it is 7000, 14,000 people we know it is making its way north. everyone making it clear, they're going to enter the united states. the president says the caravan will not. your thoughts? >> i'm part of our president

for protecting the border. but you made a point earlier in the show that is worth highlighting. this is not just a group of desperate migrants. we are people who are criminals, thugs and i have received information from intelligence officials in central america and even members of the intelligence community in the united states. they have some folks have come from as far as africa to join the caravan because they believe it is the way to gain illegal entry into the united states. special-interest aliens, jihadists, people from a different hemisphere using this weakness on our border to bring problems to the united states. that's why this is so serious. it is beyond the humanitarian crisis, is a national security issue in our president who is tasked with protecting us needs to make sure this caravan is stopped.and i think he will. lou: the idea that this is a humanitarian crisis. fits into the left-wing narrative but the reality is that this is an orchestrated effort. it is a political effort, it is occurring two weeks before the election is no accident.
