lou: good evening everybody, our top stories that, the caravan of mostly central american migrants determined to make their way to the u.s. border, continues to grow tonight. the latest estimates put the number of migrants in the caravan between seven and 14,000 people. although, as you can see in these pictures, sometimes it looks like many more than that. president trump blaming radical democrats for encouraging the caravan and perhaps, many more like it. through their refusal to reform the u.s. immigration system,

if the caravan were to travel the 2400 miles to the north western city of tijuana, just below san diego, they would not arrive until late february. well after the november midterm elections. and another issue they might encounter is hurricane willa, the category three storm is expected to make landfall tonight 1000 miles off of the mexican west coast from the caravan. but the devastation it might leave behind could pose an issue for the thousands in that caravan. any of them are wearing flip-flops and already fighting blisters and pain that comes from walking great distances. just as they are how can anyone be expected to travel that journey safely? the wall street journal today reported the honduran government is claiming that social activists and leftist politician went as and other

straightforwardly this does not happen. in this administration. your thoughts? >> no, the president, president trump and pompeo are exactly right. as a sovereign nation one of the things that defines you is you have borders. as a country are allowed to enforce your border security. your border laws. you need to be able to control who comes and who goes. that is the basic elements of being a nationstate. so i agree with the president and secretary pompeo and everything they said. they're not going to let the caravan and because as the president indicates, we do not know who is all in the group of people. as you said it could be as many as 14,000, 7000, we don't know the number we do not know who is involved in the group. again, is a sovereign country you have a right to control that and we should not let them and until we know who they are. lou: don't you find it remarkable this day and age that we are actually debating whether or not we have a group of people particularly on the left suggesting we don't even have a sovereign right to determine who comes into this country? the president himself has been

campaigning on a merit based immigration system and yet, the democrats refused to follow some in your party as well refuse to follow the president's lead. >> the democrats are talking about abolishing i.c.e. you never want to secure the border. their nominee for president just two years ago said, she wanted a borderless hemisphere. so they don't get the comments is it that most americans understand, we have a right to control what goes on that border. we need, this underscores a simple fact we needed border security while just like president trump is talked about prayer just like he campaigned on, just like we campaigned on. most important, just like the american people elected us to do. but that will not happen if democrats take control of congress be we will never get it secure and will never get the border securitywall. >> it is to me, stunning to think that some of the likely house chairs , this would, adam

have not had him in an open hearing under oath to answer questions. i'm hopeful the fact that we've ended this little like behind closed doors pattycake game between the committee chairman and rod rosenstein, in fact we dispense with that. it means we will have more transparency in the process and more openness. but you know what? frankly, sometimes our own leadership and the other side, they want to keep jim jordan and mark meadows and matt gates out of the room. because where the was ask the tough questions and they don't want us to participate because it will provide the answers and we want to see where it leads. lou: along with devin nunes, you all have been spearheading the calls for the truth. imagine that! from the justice department from the fbi. by the way also from the fisa courts which appear to be complicit in the political corruption of the fbi and department of justice. i want to turn very quickly to what you think will happen next. are we going to ever see -- let me put it another way.are we going to see any results from

the rosenstein interview? before the midterm elections or have they successfully run out the clock on that as well? >> my fear is that there is a bipartisan desire to make no waves before the election. the democrats think they got the wind at their back. republicans think we ought to be quiet about everything other than tax cuts. as a matter what party wins or loses the election when it comes to our jobs as members of congress to do our oversight. whether rod rosenstein is fired or not fired, whether republicans win or lose, we should never have a government trying to unseat a duly elected president. that is what i will be fighting for. >> and in that, the caravan seems timely. whether it is 7000, 14,000 people we know it is making its way north. everyone making it clear, they're going to enter the united states. the president says the caravan will not. your thoughts? >> i'm part of our president

for protecting the border. but you made a point earlier in the show that is worth highlighting. this is not just a group of desperate migrants. we are people who are criminals, thugs and i have received information from intelligence officials in central america and even members of the intelligence community in the united states. they have some folks have come from as far as africa to join the caravan because they believe it is the way to gain illegal entry into the united states. special-interest aliens, jihadists, people from a different hemisphere using this weakness on our border to bring problems to the united states. that's why this is so serious. it is beyond the humanitarian crisis, is a national security issue in our president who is tasked with protecting us needs to make sure this caravan is stopped.and i think he will. lou: the idea that this is a humanitarian crisis. fits into the left-wing narrative but the reality is that this is an orchestrated effort. it is a political effort, it is occurring two weeks before the election is no accident. nor is it an accident that we

now understand a second caravan has been assembled in honduras of about 1000 people at this point and preparing to cross into guatemala. it is, at what point, do we simply say, please take our country? it is open to the world. and what do we say to all of the people who are in line as president obama, former president obama said, who are in line and he was much concerned some decade ago, about being fair to them.no more, obviously. >> let me make this point. this is not one caravan or two caravans. this is a new strategy to get people who are not supposed to be in the united states into the country. so we do not take strong bold action, the caravan will never end. it will be ongoing and our country will be borderless and americans will be left vulnerable. that is why this is so
