our top story, three more suspicious packages, authorities intercepted them today, one sent to actor robert de niro, two intended for vice president joe biden. a total of ten suspicious packages, each containing what the fbi calls potentially destructive devices. those discovered this week. authorities treating the undetonated package contents as if they were live bombs despite not one having gone off, all ten of the devices on their way to the fbi bomb facility in quantico, virginia for further analysis. fox news chief intelligence correspondent catherine herridge with the latest. reporter: fbi officials say this investigation is now their highest priority, with bureau agents, analysts and forensic experts working alongside atf, secret service and other task force members. the attorney general who oversees the fbi and future

suspicious package in florida, former attorney general eric holder expects federal investigators to move swiftly. >> we need to figure out who did it and figure out a way which we can get beyond these things. reporter: federal law enforcement official downplayed the embedded isis logo on the device. former cia director john brennan and delivered to cnn causing wednesday's evacuation. the official said the mock isis logo was designed to confuse, not an indicator of a terrorist connection. on the florida angle, officials are not saying whether they believe the suspect or suspects operated from florida or all of the packages were mailed from the state. new york and maryland are also a focus, lou. lou: thank you very much, catherine herridge reporting. for more from the white house and the president's response to the investigation into these suspicious packages and the person or persons responsible for them, we're turning to fox news chief white house correspondent john roberts. reporter: lou, good evening,

president trump was briefed several times about the latest developments in the search for whoever is responsible for sending those suspicious packages to some of the president's fiercest critics. the white house mum on the progress of the investigation but it was clear the president had a lot on his mind about it. >> the president of the united states. reporter: in his only public event today, president trump said nothing about more suspicious packages being found today, but earlier he pointed a finger of blame at the media for fanning the flames of partisan tribalism, a very big part of the anger we see in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reports of the mainstream media i refer to as fake news, the president said. it has gotten so bad and hateful this is beyond description. mainstream media must clean up its act fast! >> the media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone. reporter: the tweet and similar comments the president made at

a wisconsin campaign rally followed sharp criticism from cnn president jeff zucker, who in a statement said -- . >> do you see how nice i'm behaving tonight? reporter: the criticism of the media aside for the most part, president trump dialed back his razor sharp political attacks denouncing the mailings, urging people to solve their differences peacefully. >> there is one way to settle our disagreements, it's called peacefully at the ballot box. reporter: some democrat insisted it's not the media to blame but the president. former cia director john brennan was a target of one of the mailings. >> his rhetoric too frequently fuels these feelings and sentiments that now are bleeding over into potentially acts of violence. reporter: white house press secretary sarah sanders fired back that the president had nothing to do with the threats. >> the president is certainly

not responsible for sending suspicious packages to someone, no more than bernie sanders was responsible for a supporter of his shooting up a republican baseball field practice last year. reporter: the suspicious packages took out of the headlines the caravan of migrants headed for the united states. president trump and the vice president did their best to get it back above the fold this afternoon. >> to those in the caravan, turn around, we are not going to allow you to enter our country illegally. reporter: the president also ordered the pentagon to muster troops to the border. 800 military engineers, doctors and lawyers, some of them active duty, will be headed to the frontier to back up the border patrol and the 2100 national guard troops already there. where those troops will go has yet to be decided but the very fact that the president is engaging active duty military in the efforts to secure the border marks a new milestone in his efforts to curb illegal

immigration. lou? lou: john, thank you very much. john roberts at the white house. also tonight, more on the migrant caravan up to 14,000 as it moves north through mexico on its way to the u.s. border. that caravan left today traveling 30 miles north, 110 miles from the guatemalan border now. for the latest, we turn to fox news correspondent william la jeunesse traveling with the caravan in mexico. >> no work, no medicare, you know, and it's hard for everybody. reporter: gustavo dominguez deported by i.c.e. by a construction job in north carolina. giovanni deported after a traffic violation. both are going back. >> my both in california say giovanni when you come back, i need it in my company, and i say maybe, 30 or 35 days,

maybe. reporter: most of the caravan like armando never lived in the u.s. . >> we are a big family, my children are young and we're looking for the american dream. reporter: right now we're in southern mexico, literally 2,000 miles to the border at san diego or 1,000 miles to mcallen, texas. some will walk, hitchhike, catching a ride in the back of a pickup truck or flatbed or pay about $1.50 or $2 a person and hopscotch town to town, sleeping each night, walking a little bit, all the way through mexico to the u.s. border. there's a train they can catch not far from here but dangerous. the farther we go north, the caravan will likely splinter, some go towards the east but the majority go west at tijuana, that is where some will cross illegally, others ask for asylum. >> are you worried at all about not being allowed in?

give us your first and we have limited time i'm going to ask you to be assistant as possible. your thoughts on what you've witnessed and what you saw and heard. >> is a caravan of mid-teens to mid-40s. the women and children are minority. there are criminal elements in the caravan and their children who have been recovered from the human smuggling operation today. the guatemalans are trying to turn them back and it's a very grave situation. leftist groups are reported to be the organizers playing instrumental roles and financial roles. tell us what you can. >> this is criminal involvement on the part of these leftist groups. highly organized elaborate operations. i have that from the highest level of the guatemalan government. they are investigating those groups criminally and i strongly urge president trump and attorney general sessions to do the same here but a lot of these

folks who have affiliates getting money from the soros occupied state department and that's a great concern. we need to start cutting money there. lou: t. know anything about what we are seeing in these reports and pictures of usaid packages and bags containing what we know not but described by usaid? what is behind that? >> i don't have a clear answer off the top of my head. i can just tell you their all sorts of programs these groups are affiliated with that we spend taxpayer money on and it needs to be cut off now. lou: and where we had it? >> we have another caravan forming in honduras are ready to make the same track to guatemala into mexico with a plan of getting to our southern border. your thoughts about this than what we can expect. >> it's really an intermittent river of humanity.

cuz, um, i thought that was what i needed to do. we got our orders to go overseas and i went to baghdad, iraq. we were transporting a bomb sniffing dog to the polling stations. we rolled over two anti-tank mines, it blew my humvee up, killed my sergeant. after the explosion, i suffered a closed head injury, um, traumatic brain injury, loss of a limb, burns to 60% of my body. when the doctors told me i reached my plateau, i did not want to hear that because i do not believe i have a plateau. so, i had to prove 'em wrong, which i am doing to this day

will be a big one helping us to free up our resources to control the border. we are excited and looking forward to having them. >> what is happening in the border is almost incomprehensible i believe to most americans. i've been reporting on this for 20 years that i can't believe we are still talking about most of the same issues we were 20 years ago without resolution. what is the border patrol going to do here? where the caravan a day hitting the border. we have this huge caravan coming up from honduras and guatemala through mexico. whether it reaches tijuana or mcallen or brownsville texas i don't know but what is the border patrol capable of doing if they get that close. >> we are capable of stopping the profit of the cartel and that's what we have to look at. lou: i appreciate that but i'm asking what you are going to do about the caravan. >> when the caravan's come and

across the border we have to take them into custody and that they claim asylum we have to put them through the asylum process. that's the role of the border patrol. they have to implement policies that would allow us to hold these people. lou: catch and release still in effect. the president's hands tied in so many ways unless he issues an executive order that would obviate those obstacles and he's extremely limited in that. >> he already has an executive order but that executive order -- lou: it didn't solve anything brandon. i want solutions and that's what the american people want. what you don't want to hear is a big plan about the cartel. you've been there for a long time and the border patrol has done precious little to fix the cartel. i don't know if you have the ability to do so. we have intelligence agencies of all sorts to be brought to bear against the cartel but as the

president has pointed out countless times we have deadly drugs coming across that border. it's hard to take seriously frankly the border patrol's pleadings for understanding and the rationalization of our law. the border patrol is there to protect this country and it's not happening. it has to be done to this caravan doesn't get through. >> lieu company what has to be done is we have to hold people pending their path deportation proceeding. if we release them after they crossed the border illegally will continue to come back. that's what happened in april of this year. they played a high-stakes game of poker with the federal government. the federal government release them. lou: branded i appreciate that. i'm asking you what's in your power to stop by caravan right now what do you need from this president to make it happen?

he brings to the issues. i hope that we can count on all presidents going forward to speak as plainly and directly and honestly to the american people as does this president. it is one of the things, sometimes he talks pretty rough and i say no you are just not used to hearing the president speak the truth. it's remarkable. what we listen to and what we hear every day that we would never hear from a president in this country's history. >> and look at the accomplishments in the unprecedented headwinds he's facing whether it's the democrats or the federal reserve. his economy is booming in spite of all of those things. no telling what he could do if he had completely cooperative senate and house of representatives.
