we hope you join us. good night from new york. [♪] trish: violence reportedly erupting at our border as thousands of migrants arriving in tijuana resist' authorities on the mexican side of the border. influx is far from over, everyone. immigration officials estimate the number of migrants coming tijuana could reach 10,000 by the end of next month. president trump tweeting out, isn't it ironic large caravans are marching to our borderer wants asylum because they are
8:01 pm
fearful of being in their country. but they are proudly waving their country's flag. can this be possible? yes, because it's all a big con, and the american taxpayer is paying for it. border patrol council officer and border agent is here. the president issuing a fresh warning to cnn. saying the fight is not over after and judge rules the white house must return jim acosta's dress pass. but will certain members of the media be respuctful? i doubt it. the president's former stand mark lauder.
8:02 pm
we'll get back to the border as we are watching the violence erupt. it could get quite bad. they are arriving in tijuana and they are facing resistance from'' people on the border. the number of migrants could reach 10,000 by the end of next month. of course, you heard what the president is saying tonight. he's right about the flag situation. joining me, national border patrol officer and acting agent, art delfueco. this could have been prevented if we had worked a little harder to strengthen our borderers. >> if we would have enforced the
8:03 pm
laws correctly. president trump has done a great job when he first came into office, lowered the numbers. then our agency, the leaders kept on doing catch and release. president trump puts in more sanctions. when he's talking about you have to apply for asylum correctly. they can put trailers down there and send immigration judges and look at these cases quickly. i was speaking to friends not in the united states, they are in mexico. they have been waiting to come in and apply legally. they have done their tape work, now they will be waiting more and more' years because these people decided to cut in line. trish: you have folks on the left saying we should bring them all in. saying we don't need a wall and a real border and it's somehow
8:04 pm
of racist of americans and anti-immigrant to say no, we don't want you here illegally. think about the crazy spin on that logic. that's what we are confronting right now. >> you are basically telling people if you want to come to my home, i need you to knock on the door and not break down my door and break my windows. immigration should not have anything to do with politics. it's a national issue that doesn't matter if purchase on the far right or far left. you should be able to provide for the nation's borders. trish: what do you think we are at risk for in the streets of tijuana, a couple miles from san diego. when you look at what's going on in tijuana tonight and you see this unrest, what's your fear
8:05 pm
for us? >> it's not just tijuana. apparently there was a couple of busloads of these hondurans shipped from the capital state of sonora down to some of the border areas here in arizona. my fear is that you have way too many people coming into this country and do you not know their intentions. individuals need to be vetted properly before they enter this country. when you have these people screaming and yelling atrocities at border patrol, screaming and yelling atrocities about border patrol and our president waving flags of their country. it has nothing to do with race. trish: the president tweeting, you would think if they were coming here for a shot at asylum and a better life. why are they not maybe holding an american flag. why are they holding their
8:06 pm
country's flags? you mention invasion when you see that. >> i'm hispanic. i'm of hispanic descent. my family, i have family that are immigrants. but when they came here, they come and have an he lee jones to one one -- and have allegiance to one country, america. i don't consider my self-hispanic american. i am an american. it has nothing to do with race. illegal is not a race. trish: they say undocumented because somehow these days you are not allowed to say as far as the left is concerned, the words illegal. i said this to the viewer the other day. i misplaced both my license and passport all within one weekend, and i thought, gosh, i'm
8:07 pm
undocumented. i am not illegal, but i'm undocumented. than is a distinction. you are either here legally or not. to say documented versus undocumented makes literally no sense. >> i don't think even if you are on the left or the right, if i come your house regardless of your political affiliation, do you want me to knock on your front door or break in through your window. trish: i want you to knock on the front door. i want you to ring the doorbell. i want to look and see who you are. >> that's what it needs to be with our nation's borders. trish: art makes some very good points here. this does not need to be an issue of race. this is not about being prejudice against any group of people. i'm an irish kid, right? we all came from somewhere. we all did.
8:08 pm
art is hispanic, i'm irish. italians, middle easterners. this is who we are as a nation. and we should be proud of that. but we should be careful, we should be careful and make sure the people coming here are the people that we want. are people that will help our country succeed. we need to think long and hard about our future, everyone and that's what we are going to do. straight ahead, president trump reacted to jim acosta getting his trespass back. what he's saying about changes domght press conferences. michael avenatti keeping his sights on a 2020 presidential run despite being charged with domestic violence.

8:13 pm
but we get a preview for you. here is president trump. president trump: what they said is we have to create rules and regulations for contact, et cetera, et cetera. we are going to do that. if he misbehalf is we'll throw him out or stop the news conference. chris: what will your rules be? president trump: we'll have rules of decorum, you can't keep asking questioned. we had a lot of reporters in that room and they were unable to ask questions because this guy gets up and starts doing what he's suppose to be doing for him and cnn, and just shouting out questions. and making statements, too. but i will say this, nobody believes in the first amendment more than i do. if i think somebody is acting out of sorts, i will leave. i will say appreciate you coming and i'll leave. trish: that's what he should do.
8:14 pm
he doesn't need to call on jim acosta. i do bleach you need to treat the president -- i do believe you need to treat the president of the united states with respect. the american people elected him. if you respect the american people, respect the president of the united states. if i did an interview with president obama or even today:president barack obama. whether it's obama, whether it's trump, whether it's clinton, whoever it is. nick who has been the president -- anybody who has been the president of the united states deserves some decorum. you don't shout and grab the microphone and not turn it over when someone tries to take it from you. that is not acceptable behavior. these are things that these reporters should know. but if they don't, perhaps he needs to train them a little.
8:15 pm
if things get wild, say okay, i'll come back tomorrow. marc lotter and mallory hagen. mark, what do you think of this? do you agree with what the president is saying? this is not over. we'll see how it plays out. but there is a certain kind of decorum you want to have when you are in the white hughe -- te house at a press conference. >> i were as a journalist the first years of my professional life. rule number one is don't be the story. you are supposed to be reporting on story, not become the story. major garrett was handled the microphone when he thought the president called on him. he turned around and gave the reporter that microphone. he didn't grandstand.
8:16 pm
he didn't whine. he didn't ask his questions anyway just because he had the microphone. it's good they will be writing them down and be able to take action for those who violate them. trishthem. trish: crazy it has come to this. >> it's interesting our president uses the word decorum because i think the american people can use some of that from him. perhaps he should lead by example. i think that's what the american people are craving. i would love for him to act with some decorum. i watched that press conference. i thought he had a lot of decorum. at one point i was worried. he saw jim acosta holding on for dear life to that microphone and the young woman tried to take it away from him. i wondered if the president was going to come down off the
8:17 pm
platform and take the microphone away from jim acosta himself. fortunately he didn't. i thought he showed descent decorum in a lot of these press conferences. it's not easy when you have reporter after reporter screaming aught, yelling at you. it's one thing in a gaggle. but another thing when you are sitting in a traditional-style press conference. >> he took 68 questions from 30-plus outlets for over an hour and a half. that's a lot of decorum. that's something even many white house correspondents will tell you, they have more access to president trump than they ever did to president obama and george w. bush. one of the reasons why president trump was elected is he's beyond decorum. he's actually about action. trish: mallory, you just competed in a congressional race
8:18 pm
in alabama. hillary clinton is saying we don't need to be civil until we win. what kind of message is that sending to some members of the mainstream and left wing for that matter media? >> as a former anchor and journalist, i think we need to recognize a journalist's job is to get to the truth. whether president trump likes the questions coming his way or not. the appropriate thing and the decorum he should approach that too -- --approach that topic wo answer the question. i don't -- i am held to a higher standard as a form miss america than our president is. i don't think that's fair. i think he can start by leading by example. trish: i would like to see the press act a little more respectful. they should ask the questions
8:19 pm
they need to ask. you can look at my interview where i pressed him repeatedly on things like helsinki and a whole host of topics. we did the in a civilized fashion. and that matters. mark and mallory, thank you. democratic senator kamala harris responding to my commentary last night. she claims i am the one using distortion tactics and i'm manufacturing outrage. i have news for her. no, senator, you are and i'm setting the record straight. anger after new york city's new york mayor bill deblasio fails to properly prepare the city for a pending snowstorm. maybe he should spend less time criticizing the a once-in-five hundred year storm

8:24 pm
trish: tonight senator kamala harris is responding to my commentary in which i criticized her that there is a perception that i.c.e. is akin to the kkk. she didn't have the guts to respond directly. we reached out to her office and asked her to clarify her comments on this perception of i.c.e. using fear and intimidation, a tactic used by the kkk. we even invited her on. guess what? crickets. her office did however speak to another media publication about my comments which i will get to in just a second. part of me wants to shrug this whole thing off because it's so preprosperrous to say there is
8:25 pm
a perception about i.c.e. and the kkk. with you i can't let it go because this type of outrageous talk by a presidential hopeful in 2020 is dangerous. it has my worried for our country. i know there are people who despise this president, including her. but she and the rest of them are totally undercutting their arguments by resorting to rhetoric like that. keep in mind, she got into her line of questioning with the i.c.e. appointee by asking him about his 2016 tweet where he compared the democratic party with the kkk. you should be careful when you are throwing out historical comparisons like that. however, miss harris, two wrongs do not make a right. there is nothing wrong with you calling out his tweet.
8:26 pm
you should. but then when you jump to this whole perception thing, it makes no sense. it is harmful. and it casts a cloud on tens of thousands of government employees, i.c.e. employees, many of whom are risking their lives to keep us safe. your line of questioning is what you would call a non-second question you are. non-second -- a non-ha. i'm pretty sure had you been in a courtroom the judge would have called you out. i'm calling you out. i have offered you an opportunity to explain. and instead, you hide behind your spokesperson who told another publication, "the hill,"
8:27 pm
actually, it should come as a surprise to no one that fox news is using distortion tactics and misinformation to manufacture outrage. hardly. manufacturing outrage is actually what you are attempting to do. i'm just setting the record straight. by the way, the offer still stands. i would well couple on this show for a civil dialogue, senator harris. joining me right now with reaction, civil rights leader niger innis. she had a line of questioning that was totally legit. it's fine to question this gentleman on his 2016 tweets. then she took this turn, bizarre, i would say dangerous turn where she somehow managed to get the kkk and i.c.e. all
8:28 pm
lobbed into one big thing. was that designed to confuse? i would say it was designed to create fear. your thoughts. >> absolutely. it was nothing confusing or mistaken done with senator harris. senator harris essentially took a moral perversion by comparing i.c.e. or saying there is a perception out there and giving legitimacy to a perception she says exists, that i.c.e. is somehow similar to the kkk. that's disgusting and should be an offense to he american. but in particular to plaque americans that were a vick -- to black americans that were a victim of the worst terrorist organization in america's history that essentially reversed the gains african-americans made after over 600,000 americans, that's
8:29 pm
just as much as the americans that died in all other wars combined, died after the civil war, after a president gave his life and the 14th amendment was passed. the kkk became a powerful political military wing of the democratic party to reverse all of those gains and kill in many cases black americans and their white republican allies. for harris to compare that gross organization, that basically -- talk about voter suppression. we are talking about real voter suppression. not asking for voter i.d. but how about a noose or shotgun. that kind of voter suppression. for her to compare i.c.e. that's upholding the law, upholding the constitution with this terrorist
8:30 pm
organization that tried to burn the constitution and the gains black americans made is disgusting and it tells me senator harris has nothing but contempt not only for african-americans, but for any decent american that is appalled by the kkk. trish: i was pretty stunned by the and i'm concerned by it. i'm concerned by this rhetoric. i get that she doesn't like president trump. a lot of people don't like president trump and he's not perfect. i said that and called limb out when i needed to. but to go where she went, to go where some of the anchors on that network behind me to talk about our president in the same breath as adolph hitler, this is irresponsible. this is wrong. it is disrespectful, as you said, sir, to the thousands of people, millions of people that
