presidency and our punishment. liz: that's senator graham to wins stand up open fight for the border wall or we deserve to love. tom reid, great to see you sir. this is really on republican leadership like mitch mcconnell, the ball is in their court. what was your reaction to senator graham? >> i appreciate it. we're here in the reality of the government shutdown and standing firm on the issue of border security and i think what he articulated a what we're fighting for. we're trying to do the work for the american people. 's not about punishing republicans or democrats. it's about listening to the mary ann mendozas. this is an opportunity to lead and solve problems. liz: this is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical issue being put through the sieve of politics.

would you support the president declaring the border is national emergency? >> i believe the president has a legitimate argument. we in congress need to do our job and we should do this together, as democrats and republicans to say look, you can fix not only the border and keep us safe and secure. maybe there's other issues like lindsey graham is talking about, taking care of daca, taking care of the other folks caught up in the broken immigration policy. now is the time to lead and get it done. liz: are you hearing democrats would come to the table if there is a daca deal? is that how we get both sides to the table? >> that's the beginning of the contours of a deal that can bring people together. and enough of party extremism, controlling where we go on these issues and blocking leadership in on the republican and democrat side. now is the time to listen to the sound majority of americans saying look, there's a problem at the border. let's fix it, keep our american citizens safe and then solve these other problems at the same
