security is gaining momentum with voters. look at this pole. 54% says yes, there is a security crisis at the border. an abc washington post poll shows support for the wall, climbing by a percentage points versus this time last year. let's bring in the washington times opinion editor. charles, what you make of those poll numbers? >> around here everybody is money to the fact that it looks like most americans are blaming trump for the shutdown. the important numbers are the ones you pulled out. it shows the largest majority in any of the polls had it at 80% of people had not noticed the shutdown at all. then followed up with the second largest group was 10%, who said they have had only minor inconvenience by the shutdown. in other words, 90% of americans have no direct knowledge, they

are not feeling the shutdown directly. at the end of the day, people are not going to vote on the shutdown or not to shut down. what people are going to vote on is an issue like immigration. if the wall is being built. if the borders being fixed, then whoever is responsible is going to get credit. anybody who is in the way is going to get destroyed. >> how do you get there? democrats are not negotiating. which of the president do? >> i think this is not a normal regular politician we are use to. this is a guy who is standing up for something he believes in. something he knows that the american people believe in. quite frankly, over time when all of the hysteria in the media dies down and it comes down to just the basic issue, i think that trump winds up winning. he will never get credit in the media, of course.

the media is going to kill him over this. they will blame him for it at every turn. there are many times during the 2016 race where the entire media was against him. it was easy to write him out. he wound off emerging victorious. also the little fights. >> i want to talk about your opinion piece about nancy pelosi and charles schumer. you say it is there border security problem. why do you say that? >> you can say donald trump is shutting down the government because he wants to shut down the border wall. when you step back and look at the big picture which is what i tried to do every way, and the big picture fight donald trump is on the side of the american people. >> okay charles. are those opinion pieces out there ready. >> charles thinking.
