you are watching the fox business network. the president firing back, canceling and postponing pelosi's trip to afghanistan. let's get to edward lawrence. he's at the white house with the latest. no thaw in the chill for the government shutdown. nancy pelosi renewing her call for the president to postpone the state of the union address until after the government shutdown. the president respond by sending this letter to the house speaker. he informed her her trip to pea equip and brussels and afghanistan is postponed. the lawmakers were only on the bus when they found out the trip was canceled. it then drove around the capital away from news cameras to let members off. the president said i am sure you believe postponing this public

expectations. a clear beat. but it missed wall street's revenue number. not a huge difference but it's a miss all the same. that's part of what's putting pressure on the stock after hours. also giving lower guidance for the current quaisht. netflix says it will log $4.19 billion versus the $4.21 billion. 8.8 million new customers is what netflix signed up saying it will add 8 .9 million this quartered. netflix does have a first mover advantage. we talk about that concept with technology.

but more competitors are coming online. some exist such as amazon as far as streaming competitor. disney signing with oprah winfrey and others. at&t and comcast ramping up. all of these already have a streaming business or soon will be streaming their own content. as for the subscription price hikes. analysts say it proves they have pricing power. netflix will have to watch its step. another metric getting a lot of attention is the cash burn. $3 billion of negative free cash flow. but morgan stanley saying that goes away in two years for the positive. liz: that's a great thing. you are a great reporter. i don't see how netflix pulls this off. they have got to keep their

customers happy with new content. that means a boatload of new content. 139 million customers worldwide, that's about the population of mexico. markets hitting session highs on a report administration officials might be debating whether to dial back on the 200 billion of chinese goods. that was set to kick in march 1 as you a double to 25%. but is it really happening? we have to get to susan li to straighten out this story. maybe the white house and the administration may be lifting those china trade tariffs. not the case according to the treasury and the white house. saying no trade decisions have been made. encouraging for the markets is

immoral countering and rebutting what nancy pelosi says. >> when you listen to steny you hear what so many democrats are starting to say is look, there should be security on on the border. they know it's not immoral. they know walls work. you can ask israel. walls work. people want to see the border secured. they know the border patrol candidate for three things, a border, more technology and more officers and agents on the ground down there. people want to see our nation secure. and they know it's immoral that there is drug trafficking and human sex trafficking, ander bit of this end up in our communities. it's why when you talk to law enforcement they will tell you. er state is a border state. every town is a border town until we get the border secure and this problem solved.

president has an offer on the table. it's up to the democrats to go to the table to accept, reject or offer a counter offer. liz: we showed you a list of democrats who said a border wall works. we have 8 freshmen democrats pushing for nancy pelosi to make a deal. but we are hearing nancy pelosi is blocking them from voting unless they vote the way she says. we hear democrats are voting for $26 billion for border security. then the "new york times" reported chuck schumer agreed to $25 billion last january. why is $5.7 billion so outlandish? >> they don't want to give donald trump a win. it's like nancy pelosi saying let's not do the state of the union.

many people share with this lawsuit as well as many of the other people who spoke out against the face recognition software is it's inaccurate. we have seen this cost ware used and it has identified congressmen and women as people who have been arrested inaccurately. we want to do a better job in identifying criminals and terrorists and being able to arrest them and bring them to justice. but where do we draw that line when it comes to our civil liberties and constitutional rights. liz: should facebook be saying we are going to be use your facial data out of the photos you are posting. post what you looked like 10 years ago versus saying i don't know what facebook is doing with it. >> this is a conversation that's

long overdue in d.c. what are these tech companies doing? we failed to define them properly. the exemptions to the deli communications act need to be renegotiated. they have decided to become publishers and communications companies. and they have to be defined as such. i'm telling you, consent in silicon valley when it comes to date and privacy and consent in the real world are two different things. i think it's time we had this conversation. the last point i'll make on this if you have concerns about how immoral and unethical these companies have been. why in a million years would we trust them with what they are doing in regards to artificial

european iewn yiewnd is being called a managed new deal on march 29, 2019, under such an arrangement britain would revert to world trade organization rules. britain would be free to negotiate a u.s.-u.k. trade deal. it would be a powerful engine for advancing economic growth, liberty and freedom on both sides of the atlantic. i understand why big business is so concerned about a new deal. but it would lead to a low tax, high growth environment in the united kingdom. i think it will be a favorable environment for american and global businesses to invest in. and fortunately there have been very, very strong support from the u.s. administration for

brexit decision, that the british people took in 2016 to leave the european union, they threw a lifeboat off the e.u. titanic. the e.u. is low growth, high taxation, high unemployment, huge unfunded pension liabilities. britain getting out of the e.u. would be a great boost for the british economy. and it's great for american companies because it will be a huge u.s.-u.k. agreement. i think it will be a great generator of jobs on both sides of the atlantic. getting out of the e.u. is the best thing possible for the united kingdom. we just have to make sure britain gets out of the i.u. on march 29. liz: is there any way to draw a parallel with the political class in england with the

political class here in the united states? >> i think there is. there is a political establishment in the united kingdom which tried to prevent brexit from taking place. they are now trying to derail the brexit process. the british people voted in part to leave the european union because they were fed up with the ruling political elites in europe and the ruling elites in great britain as well who oppose brexit. you see the same mindset in the united states as well with a sort of political class that is highly resistant to the change which is dismissive of public popular opinion which supports the open borders approach which is the antithesis of brexit. brexit is about retaking control of britain's borders and to insure britain can decide who comes into the country.

getting into the 5g system there will be serious repercussions. what you quay is very advanced in our system. in england, germany, japan. they have gone very, very far in what you might call penetration of the telecommunications system. they are the largest manufacturer in the world of telecommunications equipment. it has become known to the justice department and fbi that there is espionage going on. liz: every company in china is supposed to work for the protection of the communist party. germany is saying stay away from our 5g. we don't want you near our 5g infrastructure. >> everybody is talking about this now.

for a decade i was a supervisor with the fbi managing a computer intrusion counter-intelligence squad. part of our job was to educate the community brought risks from china. so often when i would talk to these companies, the technology companies, the healthcare companies, they never understood why the chinese government was targeting them. now with china getting into telecommunications, it plays into their plan to be a global super power. now all the allegations are there are back doors in these pieces of technology and they can see everything we are doing. that's a concern for us when we are talking about our defense and economic security. liz: scott, you are an important person at the fbi. he makes an important point. michael, how is huawei threatening canada? that's breaking news.

what's the threat? >> it's a rare press conference by the chinese ambassador. they told the media this a couple hours ago. he didn't spellsify what the repercussions will be. they have shown us they can quickly change the criminal sentence of a canadian citizen in china to a death sentence. apparently this technology supremacy is very important to china. the daughter of the founder of huawei who is under arrest and on bail in canada. canada is a front-line state. the problem five or ten years ago people didn't want to hear about chinese espionage, they didn't understand what china was after. it's technology advantage and commercial advantage. liz: this is a growing story.

watching the continued threat for flooding. we'll watch big snow across parts of the internet. this is the one moving towards the east. it's a very light kind of a weak system. it will move through quickly. some spots maybe an inch or so as it moves on through. it's the storm behind it through parts of the west. and that will become a big storm across parts of the upper plains and illinois and indiana through the ohio valley and become a big storm saturday night through sunday it's the i-95 corridor on the line between rain, snow and ice. snowfall totals will be difficult for to us nail down. but we'll know a little bit more tomorrow. the snow gets heaviest once you get hereby towards parts of

liz: pentagon officials warn north korea pose an extraordinary threat. good to see you, general. square this with what the white house is saying 7 mods ago that the threat was basically dialing back because of our efforts. how does senate square with what the pentagon is saying? >> i think it squares very well. you see, north korea is different than china and russia. china and russia have such huge fleets of icb be, north korea is a different story. their icbms are primitive. their launch sites are within 50-60 miles of the coast. there are american bases in south korea. their technology for avoiding american anti-ballistic missiles is pretty primitive. we have the technology today to

attack the north koreans both with anti-ballistic missile systems that would shoot down during the assent phase of launch. north korean defense is doable. defense against the russians and china is not doable. liz: there is talk of laser drones. >> this is military 101. but the object is what's called left of launch. to destroy an icbm on a launch pad. north korean missiles are fairly easy to shut down. traps with a laser and drone and classified means to do this. the technology is just beginning to emerge that it can build an effective shield against north korean missiles.
