for a lot of people that would be ground for impeachment. >> i view this as powerful evidence of collusion. this is more evidence that the president has violated his oath of office. >> he should resign. but if he doesn't resign he should be impeached. lou: the conflicting positions within the democratic party just growing. whether it's joe manchin disagrees with nancy pelosi's request to postpone the state of the union or the moral or immorality of border walls. it's clear pelosi and human are losing control of their party. on days like this it seems the white house and his administration face unceasing

assaults from all quarters. joining us, ed rollins. we are look at a report about how this all ends in the -- talking about the shutdown of the government that they are talking about it can only end in a mess. but they haven't got any sources for it because they say people in washington don't like -- they love anonymity. your thoughts about what we are seeing in the waive anonymously sourced stories from fake news. >> this has been as leaky a white house as i have ever seen. what this president and white house team need to understand, this is a critical period. the next 6 to 8 weeks is as critical a period as any president has had. they are putting this guy in a box like they did richard nixon.

they are charging him with things that aren't real. lou: you are talking about the fake news. ed: yes, but the fake news is being fed by people leaking stuff to him. lou: anti-trump working against the interests of the nation and working against america. i want to us take a look at two outlets. cnbc and bloomberg reporting on markets. you and i don't often talk about markets. but this is the day for it. markets have been rallying for 9 of the past 11 days. four weeks trait they have been rallying. but some of the wags who cover wall street as journalists trying to say today that today's rally was all about an imminent deal with china. i want to say to you clearly unequivocally that is pure and utter nonsense.

there is no imminent deal. the two sides are not close and they certainly have nothing on the table that reflects the reporting we have seen. we would like to compliment larry kudlow because he came on the fox business network this afternoon talking with david asman and he set the record straight about the fraudulent nonsense con injured up by anti-trump forces within the white house and the fraudulent reporting fake news has been only too glad to spread. >> some of these news reports are simply inaccurate and incorrect. that doesn't meaning in the next several months or so we can't have the very good deal on china trade. all right? i'm not ruling it out. but i'm saying these reports are suggesting things are done, things are agreed to. the technology stuff has not been dealt with.

a total fraud from the beginning. it's the biggest lie ever perpetrated on the american people, all to create a frame job against the president of the united states of america. it's the most of egregious injustice of our lives. an absolute appalling situation. lou: are we ever going to see any of these characters who have been dismissed, have we going to see any of them brought to justice, held accountable? >> we better see them brought to justice and held accountable. a lot of people are expecting our new attorney general to do just that. it's imperative he do so to restore the rule of law for americans to have any faith in our justice system whatsoever. lou: do you have any faith tonight after what you have seen? this seems to be a cartoon, a justice department and fbi.

and we know both are riddles with corruption in their leadership and so little has been done about it. do you have any faith in them? >> i don't know, lou. it's absolutely heartbreaking to see institutions that we have loved and cherished and trusted be reduced to this level of corruption and hypocrisy and abuse. it's heartbreaking. general barr has his work cut out for him. he'll need a lot of people to make it right. lou: the justice department doesn't seem to be an ideal training ground for integrity. >> he'll have to fire a lot of people and the public will need to know. the document will have to be unredacted and exposed so people can see what happened and who did things wrong. only sunlight will fiction this. lou: i hope you are right.

we are told the justice department is independent, the fbi is independent. we are told all sorts of nonsense and questions asked by those senators in the judiciary committee. the real question is how are you going to restore the integrity of those two disgraced institutions? the department of justice and the fbi? >> they are both under the executive branch. if the new leaders can't do it then newer leaders will have to be put in to do it. li what about reports the former white house general counsel greg craig -- excuse me -- issued misleading statements. and the firm he was work forgets a fine of $6 million and that's a wrap. what is that? >> there have been mix leading statement -- misleading statements by -- by scads of

administration they made progress in that area. xi stated publicly and in writing that he wants to replace the united states as the world's global leader. they have more combat ships in their navy than we have. they are accelerating the development of offensive hypersonic missiles we are trying to catch up to. clearly they are moving economically, but they are also moving militarily to achieve that kind of dominance. lou: if it were not for this president we would have more of it at the pentagon. under the previous administration budgets were not accelerating and r & d was not accelerating and strategic patience was the order of the day when in fact we have urgent challenges from two principle power players as you put it. >> we went through a period there with sequestration and the
