spot on. to think that republicans are going to wave the white flag before we even engage in negotiations saying that we're going to concede all of the turt territory to the radical left that want borders. we won in between saying we'r be going to secure the border. i don't know what's going to come out of the committee, the house and senate can call for the deal but prurp has to sign it. i don't think you're going to ooh get a deal. i don't think you're going to see that. you're going to go into februare president has to hold firm here saying, listen, this thing is going to get shut down again. i think the americans want compromise. donald trump offered a second deal saying i'll throw in a daca extension, i'll open the government up, try to negotiate. but if the democrats stay hard on their position giving no money to the wall, it's going get shut down again.

here's the deal. we have to make sure there's pain in the congress. when nancy pelosi is off in hawaii and democrats are off in puerto rico and nancy pelosi is going to take a junket to europe with democrats, everyone has to be in the house, day and night, 24/7, not going home to their families, not seeing their kids, being here every moment of the day. and they start to not like that. they get angry and you're disbieng tgoingto see them cut . if that doesn't work you'll see the president go to the national emergency issue. i think the courts are going to overturn him. democrats are fighting so hard on this because they know if they winne win on the border wa, they win in 2020. and donald trump knows if he loses on this, he'll have a hard time winning in 2020. in the house we are pro-trump. we're pro-border security. the senate is a little different. us here, we stand, most of us, arm in arm with the president.

lou: i wish to hell that the republican congress had been protrump during the two years that the republican party controlled it under the leadership of paul ryan whose name will live in infamy in my judgment. let me put in context very quickly here with the audience and look at what we've done here. we're ignoring a border security crisis frankly in terms of our left-wing media, they don't acknowledge it. that's the number of opioid deaths. put this up. drug overdose deaths. back in 1990, just over 8,000 in this country. there was a terrific book that came out the previous year called got r "a clear and present danger" by tom clancy, in which the war on drugs was the center piece and look at what we have done since really mounting an effort against the drug cartels. it's almost increased by ten times in terms of overdose

deaths, methamphetamines seized. these are a lot of numbers were folk to assimilate. 599 in '90. 61,000 now. looking at heroin, just over 1,000 pounds, 5,000 pounds in 2017. marijuana 280,000 pounds, 2017, 1.2 million and of course there was no fentanyl then and now enough coming into this country to kill every single american. and you've got chuck schumer and nancy pelosi saying there's no crisis on the border. the hell with them. this is a crisis. >> lou, one other point on those numbers, in wisconsin, not only do you have the deaths but you have addiction with the meth and the heroin that we're seeing counties take kids away from the addicts ap when you take the kids away, the county has to pay to house the children. our counties are running out of

money. they don't have any money left because there are out of home placements of kids who have drug-addicted parents. it's destroying communities. it is a crisis. that's beyond who is coming in, whether they're criminals or terrorists. the drug epidemic is ravaging our country. and do democrats not care? they say they care about people, they say they care about kids. why don't they care about the drug epidemic. let's shut down the border -- lou: i'm sorry, congressman. we're over here. what do the rb the republicans e about? the senate majority leader said he'll go narrow, he'll go wide. doesn't matter to him. he simply wants what he wants. this is a time for border security. would you agree with me that the president of the united states should not even engage on the issue of changing immigration law until that wall is built? because these democrats, as you know historically, have lied

pretty good one in the past. but this particular deal is very simple. we get a wall or we don't get a wall. lou: would you recommend to the president that he not do anything until that wall is built? absolutely. lou: it's not going to happen. they're gaming the system. and to hear sean duff any, i duy like him, to talk about throwing in daca for the hell of it? are you kidding me? what does he do for daca? >> he undid daca waiting for the court to make the final decision to enforce it. but to give it up at this point in time is absurd. if you don't get the wall now, all of the chaos going on, venezuela is falling apart, 4 million people are evaporated out of that place. where are they going. everybody is coming north. the cubans are in there full time. it's more important to have a wall than any other time in our history. lou: let's turn to the state of the union. nancy pelosi finally invited the

let's go forward. lou: everybody is talking about she's bigger than obama, who wasn't so big when he got through. the president is now faced with this awful awful republican party leadership that is in -- i mean apparently the koch brothers own half of the folks that are in proximity to the president and the white house. the koch brothers, the business rowround table, the chamber demanding amnesty, free flow across our border. as literally millions of lives have been destroyed by the drugs coming across, the violence. does the president lose his base if he gets into trading on border security? >> absolutely. this is the sacred promise that he made, this is what the country wants. this is the one thing that he think he needs to fulfill more than anything else. lou: he says he won't cave on the wall. >> he better not cave on the wall. he said two weeks ago he wasn't going to cave and he did.

israel is wrong. i mean, help us out here. >> lou, i was in the national security council want i worked for john bolton. i saw intelligence. that's not my conclusion. lou, i have some advice for the president on this. cancel all future unclassified worldwide briefings and the unclassified worldwide briefing report. what is the purpose of putting out an unclassified assessment that undermines the president's policies and tells our adversaries our analysis of them. this is crazy, has to stop. lou: what is wrong with the dni. he has no political judgment, no sense of proportion. i mean what in the hell is he talking about? >> let's think about north korea. lou: let's deal with my question first. i want to understand what he's thinking. and why he should be tolerated.

>> i would let him go because of this. and i thought this for some time. i think mr. coats is a great guy, but intelligence is to inform presidential policy. it's not supposed to undermine it. it's not supposed to second-guess presidential policy. this is why we set up a domestic intelligence service in the first place after world war ii. this tha has evolved into a monr second-guessing the president all of the time. the president has to stop these briefings. lou: you wanted to turn to north korea as do i. what would be the point of suggesting they want to keep their nuclear weapons. the president understands that full well and surely even the senators to whom the dni was speaking understand that he's not going to give up those nuclear weapons without considerable, considerable trading and bargaining and a deal with this president.

that's the whole idea. this president is prepared to work toward that end. >> i mean it's obvious -- lou: where does that point? >> it's obvious that north korea wants to keep its nuclear weapons. this assessment is we think the president is going to fail. and you know, the intelligence community is not supposed to draw that conclusion. and if the intelligence community thinks the president is going to fail, it has to say that privately. that's what i did as analyst. i relayed that privately so that the policymakers i worked with, which included john bolton, they knew where i stood but they also knew i wasn't trying to undermine them. lou: i think you and i would agree that he's got a very very very good secretary of state. and a very very good national security adviser and team. what in the world is the intelligence community doing? are they persisting in what they

congress make these decisions and work out this arrangement for border security. you know, screw that. you know, for 30 years, as you point out, politicians in both parties have been here in washington and they have refused, refused to do the most basic simple obligation, which is to secure our borders and to have borders that are defended. and these people here in washington have refused to do it for 30 years. donald trump has been here for two years and for two years he's been fighting this. and as you said, he ran a campaign, he won the election on the promises of doing something about the opioid crisis and doing something about illegal immigration and doing something about the border. and you know, can i find little things to criticize president trump about in terms of negotiations with the wall? sure. but he still, first of all, headed in the right direction, wants to do the right thing, and, as you say, he's against

ahthose who are refusing to do their job. >> they want to continue to play a game of theater. this is if first time that we have a president that is actually willing to do something. think about all of the government waste. $5.7 billion is a drop in the bucket to extend the bortder bol in areas that the border patrol and i.c.e. and other law enforcement officials have deemed necessary to help fight the drug cartels and stem the flow and move resources into the areas that we need it the most. lou: think about the mind-set that we're dealing with in this country and our leaders when the democratic party produces leaders who say that a wall is immoral and can't find morality in the establishment of both parties, the business establishment, wall street, the koch brothers, all of them
