arrived here across the border from eagle pass where we are. that is comprised of 1,800 or so. then you have a second group entering mexico from guatemala. that one said to be heading toward the san diego, tijuana area. if they are seeking asylum like a majority of the folks are, each asylum case has to have an initial interview. the fed tell us it takes 2 to 3 hours for each under view to happen. here in eagle pass with a caravan of 1,800, they can only process 0 a day. so you do the math. the mayor in mexico where the caravan is being housed say their government resources could only keep the makeshift shelter up for 3 months or so. so even though additional resources have been brought in on the mexican and u.s. side,

republican representative congressman mike kelly. would i like to bring up this news from chad pergram that there could be a deal for $1.6 billion for border funding of the wall. what's your take on that, sir. >> i think we have a president who does know how to negotiate. the question is what do you have to give up to get there. border security and safety is incredibly important. your first act upon entering the united states is to break one of our laws, that's not a good way. liz: nancy pelosi says she is confident there will not be another shutdown. will president trump go for a $1.6 billion dollar deal? this sounds like what the democrats are offering in the fall. he was asking for $5.7 billion. chad pergram saying maybe the president has other pots of

money to fluff up that amount. it's nowhere near what the president wanted. do you think he'll go for it? >> i can't answer it. but there are other sources of money i think we can tap into without worrying about doing that. this is a president whose main purpose is protecting the citizens of the united states. but what we are talking about is a minimal amount of spending when you look at what we spend in one year in so many different ways. >> it seems like a disappointing number. we did have republican senator richard. shelby: say his meeting with the president was the most of positive he has had with the president. he says the president would sign a deal if they get a deal, i guess whatever the number is. >> i wasn't in on that meeting. and the senator would have more input on that than i would have. but i think this is a president who understands there has to be something for everybody in the

negotiations. in the end, does america win? do we secure our borders? liz: if he's not -- if democrats are not ponying up. you know what's striking about this. we started reporting on this last week, that democrats are signaling they are open to new barriers, call it a wall, call it a barrier, they are open to it. nancy pelosi and chuck schumer were adamantly opposed to it. >> both senator schumer and speaker pelosi were adamantly against something that in the past they were on board with, including president trump. d including president obama. but this is 180 degrees different than what they said in congress. you have got to look at this and say is this a negotiating ploy?

taxpayer. the issue today was we need the public display of the president's tax returns. if i were to say to the people in my district, the president, the vice president's tax returns are under audit by the irs. there is a special counsel that can look at the president's tax returns. when the issue comes down to making sure one taxpayer's tax returns are made public, it's a political issue. the president's tax returns -- why now? why do we have to do this now when we already have intensive looks into this president's background? liz: i have written and covered the irs and testified boulevard houseways and means for tax reform. you cannot look at the president's tax returns until

schultz is trying to position himself as someone who can grab up independent, republicans and democrats in 2020. it's interesting as a strategist to view this because he's trying to talk about policy and facts and figures, and one thing that he's missing is voters vote out of emotion and they vote based on their hearts. i think he'll struggle. it's an interesting strategy for him to approach. it will allow him to avoid all of the primary battles. and prevent him from having to take up a position too far to the left. liz: when voters go into the booth, the question is what are you going to do for me. medicare for all sounds great. but the democrats are now saying, watch this, what's your take on this. they are saying it's not
