freshman congresswoman ilhan omar, we have fresh details on what may have been behind her fiery exchange with the enjoy to venezuela. >> i fail to understand why members of this committee or the american people should find any testimony that you give today to be truthful. >> if i could respond to that. >> it wasn't a question. that was not a question. i reserve the right to my time. trish: it's unbelievable. you need to see this. the hypocrisy of alexandria ocasio-cortez, heavily criticizing president trump for the government shutdown. but not too long ago she talked about how she would threaten to shut the government down to insure a path for dreamers.
8:02 pm
>> i don't think it's even 100% necessary to shut down the government. but the learn you get by taking that courageous stand can force a negotiation before that happens. trish: it works when she wants it. socialists want all the power and they want it their way, and they are incapable of compromise. "trish regan primetime" starts right now. venezuela, the focus in washington, d.c. as president trump meets with the president of the colombia and the house foreign affairs committee listened to testimony from the enjoy to venezuela, elliott abrams. he stresses the humanitarian crisis. but the congresswoman from minnesota instead of imiergt atrocities the venezuelan people

8:04 pm
a ridiculous personal attack that is not a question. >> would you support an armed faction in venezuela that engages in war crimes, crimes against humanity or genocide if you believed they were serving u.s. interests as you did in guatemala, el salvador or uruguay. >> i am not going to respond to that line of questioning. i don't think they are real questions and i will not reply. trish: her behavior is pathetic. she is out there using her platform not to seek answers. but as she admitted herself, to make statements, i would add, highly biased statements. i grams perhaps wasn't allowed to defend himself or u.s. policy. this is not appropriate behavior from a congressional lawmaker. but then this is a woman who has
8:05 pm
a history of hardly being appropriate. as recently as this weekend she reunited her anti-semitic attacks on israel. and elliott abram is jewish. you have to waro wonder if her timing was off given the apology she had to issue. or maybe given her tremendous dislike for israel which she has made abun don'tly clear over the years, maybe in her mind this was appropriate. ilhan omar is making venezuela a political issue. perhaps she thinks it's better to take the side of russia, turkey, cuba, iran, and hezbollah than stand with the free word and defend the rights of human beings struggling under a brutal socialist dictatorship. exiled venezuelan mayor, someone who knows that bridal
8:06 pm
dictatorship too well. day lid lusnski. brad, what was your reaction to that display. the accusations from miss omar today? >> despicable. if there is any reason why she should not be on the foreign relations committee, that was it. she had a rich target in front of of her. a well-known jewish republican diplomat whose history with the support of israel as well as causes under republican presidents is well known. and she couldn't pass up the opportunity. her anti-semitic behavior was in full force and effect. her audience was one that wasn't in the congress. she knows who she is playing to and she played right to that.
8:07 pm
trish: does she need to resign from the foreign affairs committee. >> kick her off. today. trish: david, you have people in your country -- we are taking viewers inside a venezuelan hospital later in the show. you have people starving to death. people who can't access basic medicine. you know, i hate to point out the obvious. 0 years of socialism combined with that kind of government and nicolas maduro and his cronies, that's what it does to a country. but when you see representative omar up there today going after the guy trying to help find your country a lifeline and a way out of this mess and she starts using that platform for political attacks, what does that make you think about everyone back home?
8:08 pm
>> it's important to say what's going on now in venezuela. venezuela is sphrawfght worst humanitarian crisis any crisis latin america has had. we have hyper inflation of a million percent according to the imf. crime killed almost 330,000 people. more than 3.3 million venezuelans have fled. the best solution for our country is to restore democracy and rydemocracy -- -- to restore democracy and freedom. almost 60 countries have already recognized guaido as the interim president of venezuela. and we are close to restoring democracy. bipartisan. the democrats, a lot of the senate democrats agree on the
8:09 pm
situation in venezuela. so, i mean, it's important to keep it like that. that's beyond ideology. we are facing in venezuela a criminal state. trish: this one where it's not that hard. there is right and wrong in this world. when you see all the wrong that's happened there and you see the devastating effects it has had on the people. and you see this is a country that's pretty darn close to our shore, and the last thick we want is the likes of the iranians and russians and the cubans and hezbollah controlling everything there. it's not hard to make the leap that there is a side to be on, and it's not the russians. as david points out, there has been a ton of democratic support for this as well, including nancy pelosi who has come out
8:10 pm
saying we need to support juan guaido and this opposition movement. but representative omar wants to take us back to nicaragua and guatemala and attacks on. >> she hijacked the hearing. she took away what should have been a bipartisan focus on the horrors and atrocities. you just heard from people who know it best. they lived through it. we should be rallying together as americans. whatever you call yourself, you should be for helping people in need. this shouldn't have been a contentious hearing at all. we should have been figuring out ways to do everything to move heaven and earth to help the people of venezuela. the best way to do it is to get rid of maduro and free a people from oppression. that should have been the focus
8:11 pm

the countries that are doing these efforts to provide food and medicine to venezuelans who are suffering. colombia and brazil are doing the logistics. trish: how does that work? maduro if he continues to say no, i'm not allowing this stuff in and he send the venezuelan army there, what happens? >> as i said in the beginning, the regime is cracking, and also the armed forces. venezuela has more than 2,000 generals. that's more than nato. the maturity of the -- the majority of the soldiers are desperate to get rid of maduro. they are suffering from the same things as other venezuelans. in the next week we'll see more

juan guaido and the president told me all options are on the table when it comes to bringing freedom to this socialist country. president trump: i have great respect for the man most of people, many people think is the real president of venezuela. he's very brave, it's a very brave situation what he's doing. >> if president maduro stays in power, do you have a plan b? president trump: i always have a plan b and c and d and e and f. i have great flexibility. trish: joining us, juan pablo, the former "bachelor" star. you were just down there. talk to me about what you saw and the challenges the people are going through in this interim as hopefully they will soon see a better future. right now it's a pretty tough
8:20 pm

8:21 pm
the third recent march the venezuelan people have had. and there is a lot of risk involved because maduro made it clear you are either with him or against him. there is a risk involved than is a sense of hope despite everything this country has been through, what is that change? can they taste that change juan pablo? >> definitely the risk. they are willing to take the risk because they know somebody, juan guaido is doing things the right way. it's going very pay shown thely and a step at a time. it's taking its time, taking over different institutions that we need somebody to take control of. and doing it so carefully obviously people are feeling it. people will be marching and waiting for the humanitarian help, aid. and that's what makes it so
8:22 pm
interesting at this time. and never happened before that way. trish: citgo is owned by pdvsa, which is owned by the venezuelan government. when the sanctions came out and the trump administration said all the revenues from citgo are going to go to juan guaido and this opposition group we recognize as the official leaders of venezuela. so he came out and named a new board which is important as well so they are able to siphon that money off and away from maduro. i want to share with you what senator rubio said to me about the u.s. and our involvement and what we should be doing in the coming days in venezuela. let's watch. >> the united states is going to contribute to that effort. we are here support the legitimate government of venezuela and whatever it is
8:23 pm
they ask for. he uses food and medicine as a weapon. that's why he's trying to block humanitarian aid. trish: food and medicine as a weapon. we showed the videos of people getting boxes of food, food that they desperately need. and we talked about how you can go to a grocery store but you can't buy anything. the store shelves are empty. they are getting a box of food. but to get that box of food they have to sign up saying they will support nicolas maduro. they have to sign a petition. is that using food as a weapon? >> it's so hard. when you live it and you are there and you see so many people go through that process. and everybody has been for 20 years. and hunger. if your kids are hungry you do
8:24 pm
whatever you can to get the food. and that's how they take advantage of the whole population and that's how they have been doing it for many years. now we have aid on the borders. they are not letting it in. so it makes it very hard because we know we have that support. but at the same time government is controlling those borders. and we are trying to do -- juan guaido is doing the best to get that food and aid in. i hope on the 23rd. trish: it's good to see you again. thank you. coming up. an exclusive look inside a venezuelan hospital. freedom fighters risking their own safety there with all of you, the viewers. the horrifying reality inside these public socialist hospitals. i want to warn you the pictures we are going to show you -- not these, but some we are going to show you after this break are
