world recognizes as interim president of venezuela is joining me, exclusively, tomorrow night at 8 pm eastern for his very first interview since returning to venezuela. please, do not miss it. kennedy: democrats! you blew it. you have the golden opportunity to stand united against anti-semitism, to forcefully show that you are opposed to this behavior but instead you took the cowards way out and voted for a watered-down resolution. condemning hatred in all forms. give me a break! in the words of john stossel. democrats and republicans voted 407 ã23 in the house to pass the resolution which threatened to divide those on the left over how forceful the language should be. this all started last week and freshman minnesota democratic congresswoman, ilhan omar said this.
6:01 pm
the political influence in this country says it is okay for people to push for allegiance of foreign countries. kennedy: omar is one of two female muslim lawmakers. some jewish lawmakers call it offensive. to suggest that they have an allegiance to both the u.s. and israel. many of them wanted a strong condemnation of omar thing her comments have no place in the congress. others supported her. including alexandria ocasio-cortez. but in an attempt to hold her party together the house speaker nancy pelosi took all of the -- out of the resolution for liz cheney was furious about it. saying in a statement, it was a sham put forward by democrats to avoid condemning one of their own. and denouncing vile anti-semitism. the comments were wrong to prove her multiple times that she embodies a vile hate filled anti-semitic, anti-israel bigotry.
6:02 pm
why didn't democrats have the stones to call the comments what they are? anti-semitic.with me now the cohost of the five on the fox news channel, it is juan williams. really to condemn this forcefully, why did they do that? >> if were talking politics is clear and effort i think by the christian evangelical white but on a larger scale the gop to divide the democrats on the point. kennedy: what about jewish democrats offended by what she said? >> i think that there was some. because i think that ilhan omar, the congresswoman from minnesota, she whose tropes that are offensive in terms of not only that business about divided loyalties but benjamin and the like. kennedy: hypnotizing jews and -- >> historical themes that have been used to diminish and demean jews globally.
6:03 pm
not just in this country. and she did not display any sensitivity. but on the other hand, and i think it is from people like bernie sanders who is jewish, the senator from vermont, he said you know, what you're seeing here is an effort by the republicans to undercut the democrats and undercut any legitimate criticism of israel. as opposed to anti-semitism. elizabeth warren said the same thing. this is chilling in terms of free speech in this country. so you have pelosi saying i'm going to hold my forces together. what you just saw there, and i'm so glad you played that work display the statement from cheney. lynn cheney said this is shameful because democrats held together. the votes against that resolution kennedy, came from republicans. the 23 votes. kennedy: that's absolutely right. because they have seen how democrats are trying to use race and racism as a wedge tool
6:04 pm
and in order to make the president look worse and make the democratic field look better. it's all politics. it's not one side doing it more than the other and it is also no surprise that the other side is going to exploit any weakness or fracture within the caucus. but you know let's take ourselves outside of politics for a second. anti-semitism is on the rise. it is very serious and it is in our very recent past, the holocaust. but i don't think that jim clyburn does himself any favors by saying what ilhan omar has been through. it's much more personal than some of these jewish members of congress -- i take offense that because it's like saying, slavery was 200 years ago. you don't know real racism, you don't know what real pain is and there's something about that that you can't, you cannot categorize every persons personal connection to their family history. >> will i'm not sure what you're saying at the last one but on the jim clyburn part, i agree with you because i think
6:05 pm
what he was suggesting that because ilhan omar was born in somalia, had gone through a lot of the anti-muslim purge and all the rest, for she came to this country, that a lot of this was very immediate for her in her reaction to the situation in the middle east between israelis and the palestinians is to somewhat to stand up and say these people are in fact being pushed out. there is no longer talk of a two state solution which has been long-standing u.s. policy. and you have a very right wing benjamin netanyahu, policy being put forward. i think he was trying to say you have to understand where she's coming from. she may not be familiar with all the kind of limits we put -- kennedy: i don't know because she's been pretty vocal in her home state of minnesota. >> she has! kennedy: in and out -- members of the jewish faith have pulled her aside. my question is, if she says something or do something again, i would be really
6:06 pm
shocked if the democratic senators running for president rushed to her defense and painter statements with all sorts of nuance. like she was really talking about foreign policy in terms of israel. no, she wasn't. and we know that. even nancy pelosi said she's really not that smart. >> i don't think she said she's not that smart. she says she's not familiar exactly kind of with the map in terms of how we discuss foreign policy and israel in this country to avoid charges of anti-semitism. kennedy: yes. >> i think the key is this. if you look at -- kennedy: don't use terms like it's all about the benjamin is. >> we agree! if you look at this, i think the reasons that republicans want to divide democrats because jewish voters i think six percent of jewish voters say they will vote for president trump. the 50 percent of jewish voters agree with his policies like moving the capitol to
6:07 pm
jerusalem, trying to undo the iran deal. kennedy: if i were a jewish democrat i would be looking at this resolution saying to myself, why am i still a registered democrat? >> i think your point is exactly the point republicans want to drive home tonight. kennedy: that does speak to the -- >> i don't think and i think pelosi said this, do you think that ilhan omar is an anti-semite? no. there think she's a babe in the woods in this discussion? trying to say we need to have an honest discussion about our policy and israel? yes. >> there may be some competency issues but it shouldn't happen again. >> and if it happens again republicans will be successful in hammering the democrats for not specifically saying, this is about ilhan omar and about anti-semitism. kennedy: do your homework so that you sound well-informed and you will not have claims -- >> is the first time the muslims. two muslim women in the congress. and a lot of this by they sense
6:08 pm
about the freshman class, all of the young women, especially women of color. i think pushing the discussion. especially in the congress, into areas we've never had before because we didn't have a muslim voice in the congress saying we have a different view on israel. and the relationship. kennedy: i think that's great but i also love irrationality. >> also, i like people who are not offensive. kennedy: other people that are not offended. [laughter] >> thank you for being here. >> thank you. spin the former trump campaign manager sentenced to 47 months in prison. for tax and bank fraud. federal sentencing guidelines called for 19 to 24 years in the big house. say it isn't so! that is for the crimes that he committed that he has pled guilty to end been convicted of. he is not out of the woods yet. he was sentenced in the federal court on march 15 for his guilty plea for additional fraud charges. he is a very busy calendar this week. it is important to know that
6:09 pm
none of the crimes are related to russian collision. that was supposed to be the focus of the special counsel probe. the white house is yet to weigh in on the sentence. president trump is not ruled out the idea pardoning paul manafort because he's been very polite. unlike michael cohen. his paul manafort heading there or will he end up bringing a thank you card to warehouse? two panel, an attorney, emily campania. and ahead writer of this very show! -- and thank peter, welcome all! emily let's start with you. you are our legal expert at the plexiglas oval.tell me about the sentence and whether or not legal minds are shocked by the leniency. >> a few things. i think some legal minds might be however, some are saying calling this as far up the

[laughter] >> pardoned him, naming chairman of the 20/20 campaign. i think pardoned immediately!
6:12 pm
>> i was shocked that they have chosen michael cohen as a witness on the democratic side. in their defense, they wanted to get someone more credible but jussie smollett was busy. so he could not come about. but paul manafort, textbook case of how you are supposed to play this. which is to i think in this instance, knowing a partner still in the table.not giving them what they want. in this instance they don't have collision and they've already established that. the fact that michael cohen is being called to testify, they don't have any faith in robert mueller to have the goods. truth is, and will know this, if you win the lottery don't buy scratch off on the way to cash in the ticket.you know you won the lottery you don't need it. i might by the scratch off because i have a problem. kennedy: i love the scratch of eczema is my favorite. that and blackjack.and college football. oh hi peter! >> hi! kennedy: if you're playing the trump campaign drinking game, when you get absolutely
