simonetti. there's a lot happening this morning, president trump is gearing up for another battle with the democrats. over his proposed border wall, with reports say the president will propose a budget today that includes an additional 8.6 billion pay for that wall the request more than six time what is congress allocated for border projects in each of the fiscal years. white house economic advisory said that trump demand is likely to spark a budget battle. >> it is a crisis of economics. it is a crisis of crime and drugs it is crisis of humanity. we have to be much tough earn have more constructive immigration policy which we will be twoing over a period of time so yes he's going to stay with his wall and border security so i think it is essential. >> the propose calls on heals of a bruising battle with congress over well funding that, of course, resulted in that five week partial government shutdown. >> do we want to see that again?

let's bring in of the daily caller good morning and let's talk about this 8.6 billion a lot of the budget details we'll get later today from the white house but 5 billion of this department of homeland security another 3.6 billion defense department for construction of the wall. and also, he wants, of course, the president to complete 722 miles of had this wall. is this realistic this proposal from the white house this morning? >> i think it's realistic so farce what president trump needs to really finish his border agenda. but at the end of the day let's look at what had presidential border -- or proposals actually budget proposals actually are. they're not necessarily legitimate legislation proposals. what they are is saying this is the president saying this is my ideal best case scenario. and as nancy pelosi and chuck schumer have said they're not going to stand for anything that has this much border funding in it. nancy pelosi is already said that she's going to force another government shutdown come

october, if the actual budget proposal looks anything like this. >> and so -- >> so politics aside, though, i mean there is some interesting things in here if you're a fiscal qeivetive you may want to hear this 2.7 trillion in cuts to nondefense discretionary spending bipartisan issue would be that some believe the government is bloated. this would be sol pretty substantial cuts. again we don't know details we'll know later today. >> absolutely. it is a very conservative budget there's no questioning that. problem is, democrats don't like conservative budgets as we know. and so they're going tods everything that they can web and i think president trump knows that. he knows that this is or more of a -- a statement of his best case scenario and he knows congress will look the same in october as it does now to fight him on this issue same way it does now. what is -- what will be different in october is that presidential campaign of a lot of democrats are beginning to be in full swing, and democratic strategists have been saying that they want to talk about

health care and they want to talk about education. they don't want to talk about illegal immigration. they don't think it is their best issue. but what president trump is doing with this budget or at least in part is that he's forcing democrats to talk about this issue. they're going to be having lots of debates primary debates during this time and they're not going to be able to talk about about issues that they want to talk about when president trump is forcing them to vote on immigration. prchg but real quick we should add here with new structure of congress that anything that is a budget anything fiscally has to go through gop controlled senate but has to have bipartisan support it doesn't have that with the house in thes how far do you think dems are going to dig in politically into this issue? mowing that the senate can't pass anything without their approval? >> yeah. i think they're going to use it to force another government shutdown just as they did when just in jan with that five week shutdown again when president trump sort of realizes the situation that nancy pelosi was

difference? >> well, the president said that he's going to be probusiness that has been actually materializing so the tax cuts, the deregulations has actually led to fueling of economic activity. economic growth turned out to be very good last year. 2.9% so 3% is actually quite impressive. some of his forecasts are a little bit higher than what they typical economist says but things have been working out so far a with this probusiness proeconomic agenda. >> the budget also calls for we heard that from the sound from larry kudlow that we played basically a 5 a% cut in spending across the board. they put more money to veterans more money towards kefs can spending cuts make up for cost of defense but also for the cost of the tax cuts? >> you know, i would tell you one issue that we have which is a big one is overspending

problem still i would say very bloated. cheryl just mentioned that a minute ago. there's no plan to come close to a balance budget in terms of lowering spending to match what government is receiving. we'll get to that. but that's going to be maybe about 15 years from now. so this is a case where the -- debt is going to keep increasing lead to fewer interest rate payments having to go up and future taxes going to have to go up so kind of a worrying trend that has not been going away for a long time. >> if you look at how markets and treasuries are performing you can make argument that maybe investors right now aren't concerned about that but we have to tend there. edward thank you very much. let's play that sound on "60 minutes" and mike i want you to respond on other side. >> i think growth this year will be slower than last year. s last year was high pest growth that we've experienced since financial crisis in more than ten years. this year, i expected growth will continue to be positive and continue to be at a healthy rate. >> what do you think, mike? >> look, most people thought growth going into 2018 was going to be 2.2 and we came in above 3%. i wouldn't be surprised to see that again in 2019, 3% top because of the external factors going on. but the 20,000 job number on friday a member that will be revised twice, and both december and january numbers were revised upwards if you average all three numbers even at 20,000 in february, we have 186,000 new jobs created each month in line with the average for last couple of years. >> and january retail sales come out today hopefully improvement
