like soda, sports drinks and juice, so are more taxes really the solution to the problem? what do you think? >> let me get this straight. we are going to legalize marijuana so we get your taxes, then we are going to raise your taxes on soda so you don't drink soda, so marijuana good, soda bad. it is that logic that makes me so confident in our government these days. i don't even know where to start. by the way, it would be a regressive tax that hurts the poor and the middle class much worse than anybody else. welcome to our world. >> i think that's exactly right. it's well-intended but certainly a regressive tax, hurts poor people worse. what we have seen in a lot of locales is it simply doesn't work. i think it's a bad idea. the other problem is, it's a slippery slope. next you have doughnuts and who knows what. i don't like it. >> not my doughnuts! >> careful with that. look, get it out of schools, that's fine. you can have some sort of role where we cut down a little on the advertising that's geared

toward children, maybe. but in terms of taxes, we go down this whole road where everybody will be arguing about what's bad for you and what's not. >> i want to ask you, david, but first, let me chug this mountain dew. david: your favorite. yeah. >> look, if i want to chug it, it's my right. it's a parent's right to give whatever to their kids that they want. we have this notion that government is whatever we want, whatever we vote for. the role of government in american society is very clear. it's limited. the problem here is that government now pays the bills and he who writes the checks, makes the rules. you will see more of this, taxes on soda, taxes on salt, taxes on fat. it's all anti-freedom and anti-american. david: behind the scenes, just for folks out there to give you a flavor of what this crew is like, during all the commercial breaks we are seeing jonathan chug-a-lug mountain dew. i don't know how many you drink in one hour. must be at least a case. meanwhile, what would you rather have your kids drink, sugary drinks or drinks filled with chemicals that taste sweet? >> bottled water or something.
