that was far higher than even was anticipated. we were seeing a stock market, all-time highs, unemployment at historic lows for african-americans, asian americans, hispanic americanss, really all americans. and as a result of the tax cuts and the jobs act, people in my district, for example, in cincinnati, the average family of four got a $2,400 tax cut and that's real money. it's people can go on vacation this year, people can buy clothes if are the kids, all kinds of things that they maybe couldn't do before. this is real. and president trump deserves a lot of credit for this. he took a lot of grief from some of the democratic colleagues but it's working. and hopefully the public next year when they go to the polls are going to take this into consideration. liz: here's the narrative from democrats like joe biden and bernie sanders. did obama-biden policies hurt or help the middle class. can the government really raise,

increase people's wages. does the government do that? >> no. the government gets in the way. government money spent is always less efficiently spent than people spending their own money, than the private sector spending their own money. uunfortunately too many of the democrat candidates running this year appear to be running on a socialist platform for the green new deal which is whacky when you consider no cars, no planes, no cows and a guaranteed wage. and a cost of about 93 trillion. and that's with a t. the american people aren't going to put up with this. of course we'll see next november. liz: here's the debate. what's really striking is all of the american plams that the american people support, social security, medicare, medicaid and more, all of those programs help people.

the democrats have supported those programs but in their income and equality debate they acknowledge none of those programs. so their data that they use is absolutely 100 pores p 100%. nrdz we don't have top down government policies. we have president trump trying to fire up and get gunning the manufacturing sector, right? >> that's exactly right. he's doing things that needed to be done for a long time. the tax cuts was an important part of that. unfortunately we got zero democratic votes with that but it passed. the people are benefiting from this. the democrats are saying it's just tax cuts for the rich. 80 to 85% of the american people have more money in their pockets as a result of that. and on top of the tax cuts, it's reducing the overregulation that was mucking up the entire business community in this country for far too long. the president wanted to tbet rid

a sweeping overall of the asylum system ordering new restrictions. joining me now is national border patrol council vice president. art, trump is trying to push in and tighten the rules. your reaction. >> no, i think it's fa fantasti. it's something that we need. it's great to see somebody that's still trying. it's a big deal. listen, this is what's happening. they're making fun of -- they're laughing at our asylum laws right now. liz: who? >> there are a lot of individuals crossing claiming asylum and allowed to stay here, release into the united states. but it's caused is there are so many apprehensions being done and so many people in the holding cells now that now you have a lot of individuals that knowing they're going to get released are just crossing into the united states. and we're seeing a huge number of not just central americans, we're seeing a huge number of people from cuba that are coming. and the word is out.

hey, just cross into the united states, they're not going to detain you anyway. so for the president to be doing everything he can, it's very very hopeful and we're grateful for that. liz: democrats are saying that anything the president does about the border is basically anti-immigration. what ewhat's your take? >> i mean i hear it all of the time. i hear it against myself and the individuals that i represent. they say we're anti-immigration. people seem to have a very hard time with understanding that there's a huge difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration. and i can assure you that i'm not against immigration, i'm against illegal immigration. and i've talked to the president before and i can assure you that president trump is not against immigration. he's gren against illegal immigration. there's a huge difference and people need to understand that. liz: we keep hearing conflicting reports about what mexico is doing to help.

that's what's happening at the border, according to -- with maria's reporting. it's heartbreaking to see reports like this. how can congress see this and not take action? >> i don't know. it's something that we've been asking for quite some time. we've been seeing this for quite some time. this is not the first one. this is one case of many cases and definitely if people are so concerned about, you know, these individuals and concerned about these kids being, you know, brought into the country illegally and also being abandoned, they should be concerned that these kids are being given to drug-smuggling organizations. we're not sure if some of the kids are being rented out. liz: let me just break this down. congress, the laws are broken. children are being abandoned by their mothers at the boardser t. people are trying to come here using children to get in and abandoning them.

it has now gone global. people overseas are making their way into their central american migrant caravans. william la gentlema lajeunesse . >> this was one of many migrants that we met. in two hours, multiple groups of men, women and children crossed the river. >> he said everything in his country is bad, especially with the economy. you work a day's wages and everything is so expensive, you can't make ends meet. >> border agents direct the migrants to a check point miles away. >> we can only enforce the law, what we're allowed to do. people know what they can get away with, what thigh need to do in order to get here and get further in the united states with using children as a loophole. >> there are two kind of migrants here, those that want to get caught and those that don't. earlier agents tracked a group of 20 miles north in heavy brush. one thing that's difference here, these are all young men.

oversight responsibilities involving the conduct of the current government.this has nothing to do with business. it is rummaging through years and years of the president's financial deals. when he was a businessman. that has nothing to do with running the government. it is strictly harassment and again, it is designed to disrupt his ability to discharge his responsibilities as president. >> what is your take on they say that it is focusing on probes and little on legislation? i think there are 16 laws enacted this year to date, it is half the rate of the last congress. >> do not forget, they are talking about the green new deal with a cost upwards of $90 trillion over the next 10 years. banning everything from airplanes to cow flatulence. they're talking about medicare for all, which would forbid private insurance, if you like your health care plan, you lose
