lou: good evening, everybody. for more than two years, the radical dems have done their worst, spewing constantly the worst they could imagine about our president, creating false and vile narratives while carrying out a conspiracy to block out only the trump agenda but through their efforts and constant barrage of lies by the radical dems, the deep state and the complicit left wing national media they sought to overthrow the presidency of donald trump. and now, those same radical dems brimming with evil and venom dripping from their lying mouths are attacking the attorney

actions during the trump campaign by next month. the radical dems on the house judiciary committee have a lot more to worry about than their own peculiar and pathetic performance today. they turned today's hearing into a circus, after william barr decided not to appear to be interrogated by their staff. for more on that, and the white house response to the mueller report, we turn to our chief white house correspondent, john roberts. >> an empty chair, a bucket of the colonel's finest and a ceramic chicken, the scene at the house judiciary today as democrats marked attorney general bill barr's no-show and slammed president trump. >> he's trying to render congress inert, as a separate and co equal branch of government. the challenge we face is that if we don't stand up to him together, today, we risk forever losing the power to stand up to any president in the future. >> but republicans on the

committee accused chairman nadler of turning the hearing into a political spectacle by insisting staff attorneys be allowed to question barr. >> we go back to a circus political stunt to say we want it to look like an impeachment hearing because they won't bring impeachment proceedings. >> in her weekly news conference house speaker pelosi took a shot at barr for telling the house committee back on april 9th he knew nothing about the complaints of the mueller's team about his summary of the mueller's reports findings. mueller had sent a letter to barr two weeks earlier outlining his concerns. >> he lied to congress. he lied to congress. >> before the senate yesterday, barr insisted he was answering a question about mueller's team and not mueller himself. in a statement, the doj slammed pelosi. the spokeswoman saying speaker pelosi's baseless attack on the attorney general is reckless, irresponsible, and false. the house minority leader said today democrats need to move on. >> i think it is time to stop
4:07 am
wasting this majority and actually get something done for the american public. >> but the white house isn't letting the mueller report go. in a letter to the attorney general, obtained by fox news, white house special counsel emmett flood ripped the report as a political document because mueller didn't make a decision on obstruction, but talked in detail about it. the letter was sent the day after the mueller report was released. flood writes, the special counsel and his staff failed in their duty to act as prosecutors and only as prosecutors. and called the report a prosecutorial curiosity, part truth commission report and part law school exam. the letter lays the foundation for president trump to keep aides and documents away from congressional committees, even though he did not assert executive privilege over the mueller report. flood writing his, the president's decision not to assert privilege is not a waiver of executive privilege for any other material or for any other purpose and does not affect his

ability as president to instruct his advisors to decline to appear before congressional committees. all of this could well end up in court. the white house points to a 2014 department of justice opinion that senior officials at the white house are immune from complying with subpoenas. but then there is a 2008 federal judge who said they do have to comply with subpoenas. so if this ever ends up in court, it could come down to a coin flip. at the white house, john roberts, fox news. lou: and turning now to our first guest, alex vogel. the ceo of the vogel group, former chief counsel, the senate majority leader bill frist, the national republican senatorial committee and former deputy counsel for the republican national committee. alex, first of all, good to have you with us. this is quite a spectacle to the whole nadler, cohen, on the judiciary committee, talking about lying. they are the ones who have been

lying for two and a half years, attacking this president, lying to the american people, day in and day out, non-stop. what a spectacle to watch today. your reaction? >> it really was incredibly unfortunate. the ranking member was right when he said they really denied both the minority in the committee and the american people a legitimate opportunity to hear from the attorney general who frankly has done both in his senate testimony and i believe in his correct refusal to come in front of the house today has done an admiral job defending the constitutional prerogatives of the executive branch and importantly the office of the attorney general. not only is he right on the presidential issue of whether or not a duly confirmed cabinet member should be questioned by staff instead of members, in what is allegedly at least an oversight hearing. it is not. it is really as was noted kind of a fake impeachment run. but i think he's done an admiral

job -- lou: the design of the radical dems. >> just withering criticism. lou: i look at it as amateurish, evil. it is disgusting conduct on the part of the democratic party on capitol hill, whether in the judiciary committee of the senate or the house. would you disagree with that? >> i don't disagree. i think it reflects very badly both on their party and on the institution generally. this is not the first time we've had contentious issues come up. and this kind of behavior from members, both some of the stunts, like showing up with a chicken and frankly some of the language that was used was ridiculous and beneath the office and beneath the important issues that they are at least pretending to try and discuss. lou: yeah. the issues, the issues are the reality is that the mueller report is conclusive. it has exonerated the president
4:11 am
on the issue of the broad collusion nonsense that was a lie that the mueller report managed to keep alive for these radical dems. it was a political service by bob mueller to the democratic party. that service is at an end. the lies continue, and in fact are being ramped up just a bit here. what should the republican party do in response because mitch mcconnell effectively, the majority leader is silent. we heard from kevin mccarthy, to the majority and to the house speaker was to use your majority, don't waste it. i mean, my god of two years of republican leadership in which that is precisely what the republicans did, they wasted it. >> look, there's no doubt, the democrats in addition to a silly messaging agenda here are going to be shown to be fundamentally wasting what time they have to actually move legislation to help the american people. there's not much of a role in
4:12 am
either the house or the senate to correctly push back on this exercise around the mueller report and the foe indignation and that's why the attorney general as he did in responding to the initial release of the report, appropriately, i believe, has been the one to make the tough choices here. one of the fascinating things about the report itself is it failed to reach conclusions on many issues, and at the end of the day, as a special counsel, not an independent counsel, mr. mueller works for the attorney general, and therefore, it was up to the attorney general to make those tough decisions, and i believe he did. lou: i love what senator cruz said yesterday. it was all about the 19 pages that mueller apparently wanted released a couple weeks, perhaps three weeks earlier, and the attorney general asserting his responsibilities declined to do that, having given, by the way, the illustrious robert mueller the opportunity to review his

letter to begin with. and it was contained within the 448 pages, volumes 1 and 2, of the mueller report. it is just nonsense. it's vile. the deceit by the left is just -- it is mind numbing to watch it continue. >> and i think -- i mean, look, the reality is while we have fake arguments back and forth over whether or not the attorney general properly characterized both a summary in his own private conversations with mr. mueller, the full 400 pages is available for public review, not that that seems to be relevant to the committee. lou: yeah, by the way, i think william barr -- i think his characterization was exact. i think this is just specious nonsense, you know, made up by pelosi and some of the pretend attorneys of the radical dems on that committee.
4:14 am
i think william barr by the way was just brilliant. he operated out without notes. he didn't hesitate in his responses. it was just i thought an absolutely terrific performance by him before the senate judiciary committee. alex vogel, it is great to have you with us. come back soon. >> will do, thank you. lou: thank you. up next the radical dems unravelling after the attorney general decided that he would not indulge them and listen to their attorneys rattle on instead of course the radical dems themselves. >> chicken barr should have shown up today and answer questions. >> we will make one more good faith attempt to negotiate and to get the access to the report that we need, and then, and then if we don't get that, we will proceed to hold the attorney general in contempt. lou: isn't nadler a fraud all

he's been proven right. they are so terrified that they will be exposed. lou: i not only remember that. i remember the national left wing media mocking the president as he said he was being wiretapped. it's extraordinary. jason, your thoughts, this president has put up with so much, and now he's being told as well apparently by jared according to politico that he shouldn't campaign against democrats. he's campaigning hard against them. your thoughts about that counsel to the president? >> i don't believe it, first of all. i believe jared kushner is a very smart person and very loyal to his father-in-law, the president of the united states. and i just don't buy politico. i just don't know that their sourcing is very good. nevertheless, donald trump has found the secret sauce that nobody else is able to replicate, and that is he communicates directly to the people himself. he doesn't need the media to do it. and he will continue to do that, and he's the best we have ever

seen at doing it. lou: i couldn't agree more. kaylee, i expect you won't argue with that. >> no, i don't invest a single bit of credibility in the fake news media. they are so desperate for a story. so i don't believe politico for a second. lou: thank you both. appreciate it. >> thank you. >> thank you. lou: by the way, neither do i. baltimore's mayor, she's resigned. investigations of whether she's corrupt and used money from the sales of her self-published children's book to disguise kickbacks. the last time baltimore had a republican mayor by the way 1967. baltimore by the way has had four straight years of population decline, the city's poverty rate amongst the worst in the country. and in chicago, another conflict of interest in kim fox's handling of the jussie smollett case. the cook county judge set to decide whether there should be a
