i just launched my podcast it's called "everyone talks to liz." thank you very much you can download it on foxnewspodcast .com, also apple itunes, you name it, it's there. liz: president trump plans to unveil tomorrow a new merit- based immigration system that would significantly increase the skills required of immigrants and the president also wants to end family chain migration, watch the immediate backlash because this is a system already in place in canada, japan, new zealand and australia and 52 democrats under president obama wanted all of that six years ago they include chuck, bernie sanders, kirsten gillibrand and amy klobuchar and the world is on edge rising tensions in iran and now this, the u.s. suspending commercial passenger and cargo flights between the u.s. and ventura county. those stories coming up plus
6:01 pm
president trump signing a new executive order, aimed right at china stopping american telecoms from installing foreign-made gear that pose a national security risk effectively blocking china's big giant company huawei and we heard dozens of times that the fight with china would torpedo the u.s. economy but the dow ended up today 115 points and also the u.s. economy is soaring tonight we take on the fear mongering and scare tactics that are way off base and it is shaping up to be more and more president trump versus joe biden for now as joe biden is pushing back on everyone from alexandria ocasio-cortez. >> he's illegal. >> would you be my vice president. >> and now they have an investigation of the investigators who are investigating whether or not vladimir putin and the russians engaged in trying to change things. give me a break! gosh almighty. liz: okay we take on trump

welcome to the show you're watching the fox business network. let's get right to edward lawrence in washington with the latest there and around the world. reporter: yeah, liz the trade debate has moved from the u.s. trade representatives office to here on capitol hill. treasury secretary steven mnuchin told me that he is going to go to china for the next round of trade talks; however nothing has been scheduled right now. he went on to say he is hopeful for an agreement not using the word "confident" but there's an agreement but hopeful and in the meantime the administration pushing not trade but u.s. mca, trying to get lawmakers here on capitol hill to ratify smca. there's pushback from those lawmakers because of steel and aluminum tariffs they have in place on canada and mexico. now lawmakers here say that needs to be removed to have widespread support and canada's top negotiator in washington trying to work out that issue
6:04 pm
here. she says that canada would like to see those tariffs removed in order for canada to ratify the agreement going forward with the treasury secretary saying they are trying to resolve the issue right now. now one issue that will not go away is the instability in ventura county. now because of that, the u.s. has announced they are stopping all commercial and cargo flights in-n-out of ventura county and it's too unstable and that stability seem s to be a theme around the world with rogue nations and iran is causing problems for the united states, and the u.s. actually now is evacuating the embassy in baghdad, in iraq, of all non-emergency personnel, and that's because the states of army said that a credible threat from malitia backed by iran there could be an attack there and democrats on capitol hill are skeptical about the military buildup going on in the middle east. >> we do not need another iraq weapons of mass destruction
6:05 pm
moment. where we were falsely led into a military engagement in iraq which is one of the biggest mistakes we have had in foreign policy. reporter: because of the issue with iran the u.s. moving a carrier group now into the middle east there, just in case something happens because of this credible threat. you know, all of this while the president is monitoring the world's situation and he announced today he's going to south korea. this is part of the trip he takes to the g20 and he will stop in south korea and the white house saying the two leaders will try and strengthen their relationship and ties between the two countries and this is right around the trip as he goes to the g20 where he meets with president xi and president putin face to face. liz: edward lawrence in washington thank you so much. let's stay in the fight with china. dozens of times over the last two years the media said a fight with china would torpedo the economy. watch. >> next, what other risks loom ing ahead, a deepening trade war with china, another
6:06 pm
recession, a stock market crash? >> i don't think it's obvious there will be an agreement we could get the full scale trade war and i think that would make 600 points on the dow look like nothing we could be in for much more. >> this is a battle that has the potential to cause economic pain everywhere. liz: the u.s. economy is on track to grow 3% annualized. we haven't seen that in 14 years here is what the media is also missing. the dow is up, it's traded up today, and when they warn about recession here, the u.s. economy is a gigantic 21 trillion, the u.s. imports about 3 trillion, 522 billion of that from china, even goldman sachs former ceo says the hurt will come to china because manufactures could move their factories out of china to elsewhere in asia and more. joining me is california congressman he is judiciary committee member tom mcclintock. great to see you, sir. do you worry a recession is around the corner? >> i think the president's policy on regulatory relief and
6:07 pm
tax reform made enormous differences. we're seeing major expansion of the american economy growing at roughly twice the rate that we saw under barack obama. the danger though is a trade war tariffs have always done harm to any comment a that imposes them but in the president's defense he's made it clear that his only objective in all of this is trade relationship of zero tariffs, zero subsidiaries and zero non-tariff barriers, free-trade. i question the way he's going about doing it but his objective is solid. liz: sir we had a lot of breaking news today. i'd like your take on president trump's new push for a merit- based immigration system. we know that 52 democrats including chuck schumer, bernie sanders, and representative kirsten gillibrand and amy klobuchar supported that type of a system and ending family chain migration in 2013 under
6:08 pm
president barack obama. there's pushback right now. you're take on this? >> well i think their objective is open borders and they will deny it if you look at all of their policies, rewarding people who cross the border illegally with everything from free legal services to free education, free healthcare, their sanctuary cities policy. you look at all of the democratic approaches to illegal immigration, they want open borders because it suits their political agenda so it doesn't surprise me that they have done an about-face on the kind of reforms that the president is proposing which is to again, ask that people who come to this country bring with them something they can contribute to this country. liz: there's potential the president could make a speech about this tomorrow. let's get to the president's approval rating at 44%. 54% say he's doing a good job in the economy according to real clear politics but sir, democrat jerry nadler says three years ago the plans for the democrats would be to drive down the
6:09 pm
president's approval rating so he does not get re-elected what do you say to that? >> well i think he's going to fail. what people are saying is trump derangement syndrome now brought to the house of representatives and the people who voted the democrats into power think they were getting anything else maybe that's nature's way of warning him to be careful about the votes they cast. all of the problems confronting the country today completely fixated on donald trump. liz: congressman, thank you so much for joining us sir appreciate it. >> my pleasure. liz: again president trump wants to unveil tomorrow a new merit- based immigration system. it would suggestly increase the educational requirement for migrants. let's get to fox news john roberts at the white house with more. john? reporter: liz good afternoon to you there's actually two pieces to what the president is laying out first of all something very familiar with your audience, and the president talked about the need to increase border security , upgrade ports of entry and build more wall, make sure that every person who enters the
6:10 pm
country, every vehicle that crosses the border is screened. the peace officer's memorial today president trump talked about the need for border security. listen here. president trump: not one more american life should be lost because our lawmakers failed to secure our borders. tremendous problems are caused at the southern border from drugs to the wrong people being allowed to come in because of a corrupted broken system that can be changed in 20 minutes. >> the program you're talking about at the top switching to a merit-based immigration system. what the president wants to do is change the makeup of the immigrant population, that to say the number of people in the country every year but just change the makeup. currently 12% of people are admitted given green cards based on employment or their skills the president wants to increase that to 57%. family-based immigration which is the bulk of it now would reduce from 66% to 33% and then
6:11 pm
another 10% would be admitted into the country on humanitarian or other grounds, but it would end the visa lottery program. the president wants to introduce a build america visa, that would recognize extraordinary talent, people with professional and specialized locations and exceptional students and these people would be admitted into the country at a point basis. points are given based on age, english proficiency, and education and vocational certifications. democrats who are skeptical of almost everything that the president does, are skeptical of this as well. listen here. >> there have been so many efforts when it comes to immigration reform under this president, optimistic skeptical as to whether he truly wants to deal with immigration reform. i know he wants a wall. >> the white house is saying it would like to pass a new immigration reform bill before the election, but liz, i think
6:12 pm
in honesty this really reads more as a 2020 campaign platform than it does for legislation, with democrats controlling the house. liz: great analysis and insights john roberts come back soon we love having you on. >> thanks, liz. liz: thousands of people congregated at the gaza border with israel for demonstrations known as a catastrophe in which hundreds of thousands of palestinians were forced out of their homes. let's get right to trey, at the israel gaza border with more. reporter: liz over 10,000 palestinians gathered around the border today to mark knock the day. this as the palestinian health ministry says at least 60 protesters were injured and they include ied's and rocks being then towards israeli troops. hamas, the group in control of the gaza strip called the israeli response an act of aggression. earlier this month, hamas fired nearly 700 rockets into israel
6:13 pm
from gaza killing four people. and israel responded with a series of air strikes killing more than two dozen palestinians amid new tension, iranian-backed groups in gaza could pose a major threat to israel as the cease fire is tested each day. >> inside the gaza strip have a number of tools to discup current cease fire understanding one of them, balloons trying to destroy agricultural communities along the border as you can see behind me, this field completely destroyed by just one group of balloons. >> both hamas and jihad confirm ed to fox news they received funding and in some cases military support from the iranian regime raising questions about what role the groups play if a larger conflict with iran occurs so the violence along the israel gaza border does come as there's major tension in the middle east as proxies are being blamed for sabotaging key oil infrastructure across the region liz?
6:14 pm
liz: thank you so much, sir. coming up, it's looking like for right now it will be president trump versus joe biden. the president is playing offense this is after joe biden's lead is widening over bernie sanders, in the field of about two dozen and the president tweeted about joe biden nearly three dozen times since joe biden announced. president trump: i don't know what the hell happened to biden. what happened to him? i'm looking at him and that doesn't look like the guy i knew i can't tell you who i am or what i witnessed, but i can tell you liberty mutual customized my car insurance so i only pay for what i need. oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no... only pay for what you need. liberty. liberty. liberty. liberty. ♪

6:19 pm
up from 6 points, the day when biden entered the race and said this is all going on despite joe biden's problem with unwell com ed heads and touching of women and his recent dismissing of china and hunter's business deal in the ukraine and china. let's bring in the caller caller vince coglianese with more. your reaction to all of that? well i think it's the commentary on the democratic field is large with heads everywhere and they are all representing the same philosophy so biden is thinking he's sort of the best of the socialistic bunch, and not great commentary on his general election chances but watching the president sort of commenting on the former vice president i think he's really touched on something that matters which is joe biden has sort of lost the touch. you compare the two men they are relatively close in age. donald trump has a lot more energy than joe biden has for this type of campaigning and by the time we get to the first democratic debate i'd be surprised if joe biden is the clear front runner any more. liz: interesting because do you know what's happening right now,
6:20 pm
joe biden seems to be setting his tuare rf. he's asking people to "calm down " until he releases his plan watch. >> most of my record [indiscernible] it's a long came pain campaign. liz: your reaction to that? >> democrats are not giving him any warm embraces. they are so trying to distance themselves from him and alexandria ocasio-cortez love her or hate her is represented above a meaningful cross-section of her party that thinks he's in effective, that he doesn't live up to the progressive standards and he takes that beating during the democratic primary and that will extract some pain from him.
6:21 pm
liz: joe biden is coming out saying the threat to investigate this son's, hunter's business dealings and china and the ukraine he's saying that's a personal attack. your reaction to that, vince? >> well it's a personal story. it's one that needs to be looked into to examine whether or not there's corruption because when the vice president of the united states pressures a government to remove a prosecutor that is a direct interest in investigating the vice president's son that's a big deal and that's much more connected in terms of the types of things deserving of an investigation than anything we've seen related to trump or russia or mueller over the last two years. liz: vince coglianese, thank you so much come back soon. okay, are you tired of getting so many fake robocalls? well the government under the president is now taking steps to give phone companies the power to block those robocalls. hillary vaughn has more. reporter: liz, the fcc says they are giving phone companies the go-ahead to stop robocalls before you even get that first ring.
6:22 pm
the fcc has a new plan that lets carriers auto block spam calls by default. the change would let carriers stop the calls before they happen, fcc chairman pai announcing a white-list option that limits calls just to people's contact list a good option for elderly people who are the highest targets of these rob o calls. >> the one possible use for this would be in support of elderly relatives who are too often targets of these scams. for instance imagine being able to setup a list of phone numbers that your grandmother or father would receive calls from and this would allow them to know the calls they get are coming from trusted people, loved ones, their doctor, their pharmacy and the like. >> i asked the fcc chairman if they would be providing the software to the providers or if it's up to them to use their own technology. >> the short answer is no, we are not offering a software tool nor directing specific software tools. our goal here is to make clear
6:23 pm
the legal foundation for allowing call blocking by default so we want to encourage an experimentation that allows companies to figure out where consumer preferences and then match a call blocking tool to those preferences. >> the fcc says they can't guarantee this will be a free service for consumers but they doubt companies will pass down the cost because it's going to save them money. the proposal goes up for a vote on june 6, shortly after that the fcc says phone companies have the green light to move forward. liz? liz: thank you, hillary. two new developments in the colorado school shooting. alicia? reporter: today, family, friends and law enforcement participated in a celebration of life to memorialize an 18-year-old high school student who was killed while fighting off one of two classmates who began shooting in the classrooms last week. thousands of people attended the service in highlands ranch, colorado a suburb of denver. the douglas county sheriffs

the point that capitalism as it works now in america isn't serving the people of america, and just because we have a strong stock market doesn't mean america is better off, and i'm an entrepreneur, colorado has gone from 40th in john creation to the last three years to the number one economy in the country but it doesn't mean that capitalism is succeeding. liz: you know, now 7.5 million job openings versus 5.8 million unemployed and what's really interesting governor is that in these debates you want to have people sharing common truths and facts. democrats have used really flawed data in the income and equality site misleading voters and the federal reserve says that survey that says that those makes less than, those that don't have $400 for emergencies like four out of 10 people it's skewed toward the federal reserve says those making less than 40 k, the federal reserve says that is mostly lower income people surveyed and the census bureau is always warning that people under report their income in talking to the government and
6:48 pm
the numbers that the democrats use don't include the help congress gotten acted like medicare medicaid food stamps and public housing so the debate is really twisted in this income and equality fight. i think the voters know that the democrats are whipping fast balls by them. >> [laughter] listen you could quibble over that but there are a lot usually there are dozens of polls and surveys that say 75% to 80 person person of americans can't balance their household budgets at the end of the month. liz: it's lower income individuals. it's from bank rate monitor see that's the thing. let me back up. sorry to interrupt you say you want to adjust capitalism? it looks like capitalism is working pretty good right now. political considerations often trump, override good economics when you have the government stepping in right? how do you fix capitalism? >> we've got record debt,

remarkably low levels of savings , we've got all kinds of challenges. we don't have for 40 years we've been having every year less startups, less business creation that's where new jobs are. we've got to begin looking at how do we get competition back in the marketplace. that's all i'm saying. i'm an entrepreneur i believe in capitalism but you need competition to make capitalism work. liz: i hear what you're saying by the way do you agree with bernie sanders single payer plan what's your position on that? >> no i think what we need is a public option in other words people that can't get healthcare on the private exchanges need to have medicare medicare advantage but i don't believe we'll take healthcare insurance away from 150 million people without a needless battle liz: i'd like your final word on this and we're really grateful that you came on. jamie jamie dimon said it took eight years to put a man on the

moon, isn't that an issue? you ran a small business you basically revitalized downtown denver, right with restaurants and pubs. you know what it's like to run a business right? >> yeah and i believe that you need appropriate regulation. we're able to get the oil & gas industry to work with the environmental community and create regulations by everyone working together so when i was governor we went through 24, 500 rules and regulations in colorado and they were simplified or got rid of almost 11,000, that's appropriate regulation but you still need regulation. liz: i hear what you're saying but sir, you know, really interesting governor will you come back on? i really like this debate and talking to you about this, you gave some insights and perspectives there the democrat party needs to listen to more. you ran a business you're a two- term governor and you have a lot of thoughts and contracts can you come back on soon? >> sure i'd love to come back. liz: great he created jobs in

and i have every single job known to man. cab driver, tractor trailer driver, so i've been in a lot of different businesses and i really see what capitalism does if you want to work at it and work hard at it. it is not a perfect system. we have a lot of, there's not equal distribution of wealth, but one of the things for sure that socialism is equal distribution of misery and i think that is some of you talked about that and it's still the same today. liz: i love that you just said you were a paper boy to the ceo of jc penney wow that's an american story. >> i've got to tell you, i am a typical american person who starts with a little to nothing and works their way up. liz: but that's what it's about it's about income ability. half of the upper bracket drops to the lower in a 10 year span that's data we looked at and the lower bracket moves up it's about income ability. i'll stay on this because it's important. it's a scorecard for 2020. the data that the democrats are using in income and equality is
6:53 pm
highly flawed with a lot of single income households out there people getting married later, seniors living longer unattached. when you talk about median income growth, i'm telling you that the data is highly flawed and the irony here is the democrats leave out the government help that they got an enacted in their income and equality debates, public housing assistance, food stamp medicare medicaid, social security and more, allen. >> it's always left out and people always keep talking about this but i got to tell you i just got a ride down here with a fellow who came in and said i came here because of the great opportunities in america so we don't know about it here but they know about it in a lot of different countries they are all coming to america i don't see anybody leaving america going some place else so it can be some things need to be perfected , but it's never going to be perfect and we're always working at it and quite frankly i think president trump is doing a lot to try to solve some of
