4:00 pm
crazy nancy, i tell you what, i've been watching her. i have been watching her for a long period of time. she is not the same person. she has lot it. now as far as the group is concerned where is sarah, kelly ian, where are you? you were in that room, kellyanne. you were in the room. sarah was in the room. i want to let you know, if there are not cameras, he comes she say he was yelling. what was ire temperament. >> very calm. temper tantrum, rage, lost it, that is just just a lie. [inaudible] you were very calm. >> very good. >> at the end of the table. >> peter doesn't want to hear this by the way. because he doesn't, he is fake news. go ahead.
4:01 pm
>> why would have to raise your voice. you said you were done. two tracks, talk about infrastructure. you made that very clear. usmca, you made that very clear to them. >> i don't know what she is going to do with usmca. one of the great trade deals of all time. frankly if we didn't have tariffs we didn't have a deal like this. when canada, when mexico said, they will not agree to certain points. that is okay we'll tariff the nation. either you agree or not. it's a great deal. your friends on the other side of the border, they started striking and picketing. that is usually not a good sign for the other side, right? we made a great deal. whether or not pelosi understands it or whether -- i don't think she is capable of understanding it. i think she has a lot of problems. mercedes you were in the room, i walked in, i would say in this voice, i said not right what you did, calling a meeting like this wasn't right. i said so i'm going to postpone it or call it off but you can
4:02 pm
focus on one thing. you shouldn't go down two tracks at the same time. because they can't. they're so, the whole democrat party is very messed up. they have never recovered from the great election of 2016. an election that i think you folks liked very much. nancy pelosi was not happy about it. and she is a mess. let me ask you this, mercedes, you're always straight talker. you were in that room yesterday? >> yes, sir. >> what was my attitude when i walked in? sweet? >> you were very calm and you were very direct. and you gave her a message. she is the speaker and to the democrats. it is very discouraging to see that the speaker would hour before to the white house to make those comments, that there is a coverup and then try to visit the white house and expect there to be a constructive meeting. we want to solve the big issues
4:03 pm
of usmca you yourself tried time and time again to work with them on issues like border security which they call a manufactured crisis. it is time for them to wake up and to stop waging political war and endless investigations to start to really find solutions so that the american people are looking for, that our farmers are looking for. >> right. i think it will be very hard for nancy pelosi to stop that now. they're a do-nothing group of people, the democrats have done nothing other than obstruct. they're obstructing this country but they are obstructing. and it will be very interesting to see whether or not they approve the usmca which we need. is sarah there? sarah? larry, were you at the meeting? >> yes, sir. >> the great larry kudlow. come here please. you're not afraid of television. you've done more live television, maybe regis has you by a little bit. not by much. larry you were at the meeting
4:04 pm
yesterday, right? they have this narrative they want to put out, cryin' chuck yesterday he went out he was stomping and he was this or that. larry you were there. there were many people there by the way, many people. we can get you 20 other people to say that, what was my attitude yesterday at the meeting? >> mercedes is right. kellyanne right. you were very calm and you laid out the case. you had a lot of numbers what you contributed in terms of paperwork and witnesses. and so forth. while you were there they didn't say anything. speaker didn't say anything. and, you left. you made your case. >> very calm. >> much calmer than some of trade meetings. >> calm as i was at news conference. >> mr. president, i want to say one more thing, 12 democrats were there in the meeting they addressed the press and i think you should go back and play speaker pelosi's comments that
4:05 pm
day. she made very clear it was productive, move toward infrastructure. they asked her how you will investigate him and work on infrastructure. we didn't talk about investigations. we're here to talk about infrastructure. now that changed yesterday. >> if you look at it, hi, sarah. we were talking about ming. were you? come forward. does anybody know sarah? [laughter]. sarah we're talking about the meeting yesterday. the narrative i was screaming and ranting and raving and it was terrible. i watched nancy, she was crazy with the hands and everything. she reminded me of beto. maybe a little bit worse. just out of curiosity you were there. what was my tone at the meeting? >> very calm. i've seen both. and this was definitely not angry or ranting. [laughter]. very calm and straightforward. and clear. that we have to actually get to
4:06 pm
work and do good things for the american people. and it is going to be impossible to do that if we're spending all of our time fighting. >> couldn't have been more calmer. respectfully say, sorry to inconvenience you, and i left the room. i then went directly to the press conference, right? the reason i asked them to say, because this happened to me once before with the same group. cryin' chuck. i don't want to say crazy nancy, if i say that you will say it's a copy of crazy bernie, that is no good. bernie is definitely crazy. but, i did it because we had this instance at least once before, where i was very, very calm on another occasion and they walked out to the sticks. and they said it was horrible. he was ranting. he was raving. he was pounding the table. the reason i didn't do that because i didn't want them to say i would do that but they said it anyway. so i thought they may say it again. so i'm very glad, you were
4:07 pm
there, hogan? >> i seen the first one, mr. president. that accusation that you pounded your fists i will be honest, you have every right to do that. face a crisis on the southern border they have done nothing. not worked with you. all they have done is mock derided you, called us liars, calling you a liar, calling exactly what happened at southern border. you laid out the case. they refused to work with you then. they refused to work with you now. >> these are bad people. a lot of people say deep state. we don't have a deep state. we have a lot of bad people. they're being found out. i saw comey is blaming this one and brennan is blaming another one. they're going against each other and clapper i think yesterday, maybe is blaming president obama? so surprised to see that happening. got a lot of bad people. got a lot of bad people. it is a shame. but i said to everybody before i walked in, said i'm going to be very calm because i don't want them going out to the press and saying that i was anything but
4:08 pm
calm. so i was extremely calm. very much like i am right now and it was sad, when i watched nancy all moving, the movement and the hands and craziness and i watched, that's by the way that is a person that has got some problems. when i watched that this morning. i went over to arlington national cemetery for a very beautiful moment with the first lady. i watched that this morning. that is just a narrative they want to put out. i think it is pretty sad when they have to play that narrative. it's a very sad thing for our country. peter? reporter: mr. president, want to ask you about disaster aid bill, john walker lindh. as it relates to nancy pelosi they said you want to be impeached. do you want to be impeached? >> i don't think anybody wants to be impeached, but i'll tell you what, we went through two years of bob mueller, with 18 people that hated donald trump, many of them contributed to hillary clinton's campaign. one of in particular, weissmann.
4:09 pm
18 prosecutors. fbi agents all over the place. 500 interviews, 1400 pages of documents, that i gave. i didn't use presidential prerogatives or anything having to do with powers of the presidency. i let everybody go up and speak, including the counsel, while house counsel. i let him speak for 30 hours as they tell me, 30, 32 hours. i never once said, i could have stopped them. no, i don't want white house counsel to speak. i don't want sarah huckabee to speak, who also went up there, everybody. i didn't have to let any of them to. maybe i would have lost in court. i doubt it. everyone told me i have the total power to have that stopped. with all of that, after two years, no collusion, an findings that strongly led a great attorney general to be able to rule, no obstruction. okay. now, i thought it was over. now jerry nadler, who i fought
4:10 pm
for a long. of my life because he is from manhattan. he is a manhattan congressman. before that something else, but i fought him in and won, fought him very successfully. lo and behold i come down to washington as president, who do i have again, jerry nadler. i know him well. i have had great success against jerry and i will again but it is very unfair when you go through the house and then the house again and then you go through the senate, and then you go through fbi. you have foreign countries sounds like involved, with all of this, no collusion, no obstruction. and i thought it was over. we can focus on the usmca for the farmers and instead they want all the same papers that have just been gone over with. i would imagine that mueller went over my financials. he spent $40 million. i would imagine they went over my taxes, my financials,
4:11 pm
everything. now we have to go over it again. i've been this for 2 1/2 years. they started in my opinion, we'll find out, i think people a lot of people want to find out, i think it started moments after i came down the beautiful escalator in trump tower. i've been under investigation, a phony investigation, based on no facts, based on an overthrow of the president. i'm very proud of the way we've come out, very proud. peter we have to go through it again. the american public is not standing for it. i saw some polls, 60, 65% against, that is with a lot of democrats. so i think it is a bad thing for our country. but i thought it was over with four or five weeks ago when you had no collusion. now all of sudden we continue to go down the path. i don't think people will stand for it. reporter: release of so-called "american taliban," john walker lindh. what do you think about it? >> i don't like it.
4:12 pm
this guy got 17, 20 year sentence, he got time off. a few weeks ago i went to the best lawyers in our country, work for government, what can we do about this? i heard about this two weeks ago? i got a beautiful letter from the daughter of the first man they say killed in afghanistan, from the cia, and i went and checked. and he said from a legal standpoint there is nothing we're allowed to do because, if there was i would have done it instantly. we'll be watching him. we'll watch him closely. what bothers me more than anything else, here is a man who has not given up proclamation of terror. and we have to let him out. am i happy about it? not even a little bit. the lawyers have gone through it with a fine-tooth comb. if there was a way to break that i would have broken it in two seconds. i knew about it very well. reporter: do you support the disaster relief bill that includes no immigration money. >> we'll get the immigration money later according to
4:13 pm
everybody. i have to take care of my farmers with the disaster relief. if i didn't do that, we, i mean really it is a long time in coming. this way our farmers from not only georgia, alabama, different places, some in florida, but if you look at what happened to nebraska, iowa, a lot of different places they got wiped out. they got hurt badly. i didn't want to hold that any longer. the answer i totally support it. i like to see it happen. we'll take care of immigration later. the wall is being built. we just left the army corps of engineers. we'll soon have hundreds of miles under construction. we'll have way over 400 miles completed by end of next year. reporter: mr. president, why should porters money go to american farmers? >> because the american farmers have been used as vehicle for china, to try to hurt our country. they have been very brave. no. in particular the farmer. they have been very, very brave. they have been very patriotic. china has openly stated they're
4:14 pm
going to use the farmer. the reason is because i got the farmers votes. you look at a map, it is all red, republican, meaning trump is all red in the middle states. a little blue here, a little blue there. so farmer, if you look at, i guess china is probably, they have definitely a smart player. they went out and said we'll going to attack the farmers and they did. the farmers said, you know what? we're with our president. i never heard even on some of the networks and cable channels that are negative, i never heard anybody, any of the farmers speak badly. they said, you know, you told me that, mike, the president has, he is doing the right thing. they have been unfair to this country. they're not talking about farm. they're talking about everything. china has been unfair to this country for, many years. finally we have somebody that is fighting back. by the way, successfully fighting back. we're talking about about hundreds of billions of dollars. i have never had a farmer come out and say you know, i'm not
4:15 pm
doing that well. just say go and do it. you will end up better, much better in the end. again if you look, go back 20 years the farms have come down, the prices have been coming down for manies many years long before i ever thought about doing this we'll be very successful. but in the meantime they have been attacked. the farmers have been attacked by china. all i'm doing helping them get that beautiful, flat, nice level playing field. right? okay? [reporters shouting questions] reporter: could you consider sending troops to the middle east as -- >> i would if we need them. i don't think we'll need them. i really don't. i have an meeting on it in an hour. i would certainly send troops if we need them. iran has been a very dangerous player, a very bad player. they are a nation of terror and we won't put up with it. the deal signed by president obama was horror show, a terrible deal. the minute i collapsed the deal, terminated it, iran went in a
4:16 pm
very bad direction. they're suffering massive problems financially. they have inflation about the highest in the world. their people and their great people, i know many iranians, they're great people, but the country is in very bad shape. when i first came here that was a country of terror. they were all over. i remember, i told it story, i've been at many different meetings where every single problem caused in the middle east and maybe beyond but in the middle east was caused by iran. they were behind every single -- we had 14 different attacks at one point. they were behind every attack. we'll see what happens with iran. no, i don't think we'll need it but if we need it we'll be there in whatever number we need. yes, ma'am? reporter: do you that i the night reduced its footprint in the middle east too far? >> no, i don't think. i don't think so. i don't think we should have been there, okay? i inherited this mess. should we have been there? no. we shouldn't have been? no should we have gone to iraq,
4:17 pm
attack iraq which did not knock down the world trade center? we had a place that was not conducive to terrorists okay. the terrorists were killed instantly in iraq. and now it is, you know, tough situation. so i think we should not have been in the middle east. with that being said we've done a great job. i took over the isis fight. we knocked out 100% of the caliphate. that doesn't mean they will not blow up a store. they're totally crazy but we knocked out 100% of the caliphate. i did it quickly when i came in. president obama totally lost control. he lost control of the military. he had lost control of the fighting. and our military was totally depleted and in very bad shape. these folks know that better than anybody. they were in very bad shape. we will soon have the strongest military we have had by far. nobody will mess with us. okay. reporter: trade deal with japan relatively soon? >> i'm going to will be japan as
4:18 pm
you know. i'm going on friday. many of you will be coming with us. it is a very big thing going on with the emperor. it is something that hasn't happened in over 200 years. i am the guest, meaning the night. is the guest but, prime minister abe said to me very specifically you are the guest of honor. there is only one guest of honor. you are the guest of honor. i represent the country. with all of the countries in the world i'm the guest of honor at the biggest event they have had in over 200 years. it's a great thing. we get along very well with japan. i get along very well with the prime minister. so we're going to be spending two days over there. yes, ma'am? reporter: mr. president is there anything you're willing to work with democrat on now? >> no, no. they have to go down their track. let them get rid of the nonsense first. when that is done we'll go very quickly. infrastructure is very easy for me it is very easy.
4:19 pm
can't go down two tracks at the same time. let me explain. their whole focus is on 2020. and trying to demean the republican party and demean the president of the united states as much as possible so that either we get his poll numbers down to a point where he can't win, except, strange things is happening. my numbers are going up. some day you will explain that to me, kelly. but my numbers are going up. but very interesting. they either want to demean so much or want to try to get him out of office any way we can. i mean you had one gentleman, green, congressman green, he sounds like a real beauty, the only way we'll beat him is to impeach him. howthat? how about -- did you see that statement, fellows. the only way we'll beat him is to impeach him. that is a terrible thing for this country. reporter: investigating when you raised the debt limit, will you sign a budget? >> we'll see what happens. we'll see what happens. i'm a very capable person.
4:20 pm
we'll see what happens. i can tell you this let them get this angst out of their belt, what it is we can do things so quick your head will spin. one thing they can do is approve the usmca so we can have farmers taken care of. by the way, not only farmers, every industry. they can approve the usmca, farmers, industry, auto industry. [applause] one of the beautiful things, yeah. up with of the beautiful things about the usmca, to me the most important part, i used to talk about this 20, 25 years ago as a private person, for whatever reason, you will explain this to me, i said something even as private builder, whatever i was doing at the time, i would get a lot of publicity without a lot, without a lot of trying. and i was against certain things but if you look at, you take a look back, you will see all of the things that you're talking about, all of the things that
4:21 pm
you're asking about i was against at that time. i'm still against. i haven't changed very much. been very consistent. i'm extremely stable genius. okay. go ahead. reporter: mr. president you mentioned china a few times today. given the tension now, not only over trade but over huawei and technology, what likelihood is there there will be a trade deal? >> there is a possibility. i think probably a good probability. i don't know how china can do this i will be honest, we get hundreds of billions of dollars brought into our country. we have never gotten 10 cents. we're getting hundreds of billions of dollars coming into our country. i'm helping farmers. but you know what? that help is a very temporary help. because they will pay it back 100 times over. they will with what they do, with the importance of what they do. but huawei is something that is very dangerous. you look at what they have done from a security standpoint, from a military standpoint. it is very dangerous. so it is possible that huawei
4:22 pm
would be included in some kind of a trade deal. if we made a deal i imagine huawei possibly included in some form of, or some part of a trade deal. reporter: how would that look? >> it would look very good for us. reporter: huawei part, how would you design that? >> it is too early to say. we're very concerned about huawei from security standpoint. reporter: sir, constitution says treason is punishable by death. you accused adversaries of treason. who are you specifically accusing of treason? >> a number of people. they have unsuccessfully tried to take down the wrong person. you look at comey. if you look at mccabe. if you look at probably people, people higher than that, if you look at strzok. if you look at his lover, lisa page, his wonderful lover. the two lovers they talked openly, you know they didn't use their private server because they didn't want to get caught. so they used a government server, that was not a good move. he talked about the insurance
4:23 pm
policy just in case crooked hillary loses. and that didn't work out too well for them. you look at them. they wanted an insurance policy should see, for any reason lose, remember 100 million to one, maybe said 100 million to nothing but should she lose, we'll have an insurance policy, and we'll get this guy out of office. that he is what they said. that is what they meant. that is treason. that is treason. they couldn't win the election and that is what happened. that is what is happening right now because without the treason word i guess, but that is what is happening now. they don't feel they can win the election so they're trying to do 1000 stabs. keep stabbing. let's have financial. and if you look for $40 million i would think seriously that bob mueller and his group of 18 killers have gone over my taxes. they have gone over my financial statements to a level nobody has gone over them before and they were not discussed even.
4:24 pm
they weren't even discussed or brought up. great statements what else? reporter: dual track, one hand you don't want a dual track. on the other hand you want usmca passed. >> things are very easy. just so you understand thinot e. this is a great teal for our country. this is a great dthis is a grear manufacturers. one of the things that was absolutely vital to me, our companies, car companies in particular don't leave our country, go to mexico, build a car, sell it into our country with no tax, whatsoever and all of our workers are fired and all of those plant are empty like happened to michigan and ohio and pennsylvania and north carolina and kentucky and lots of other places. guess what? our car industry right now is thriving. under the usmca it is prohibitive to do that financially, it is prohibitive. it will be a tremendous price.
4:25 pm
nobody will do it. and if you look, since i've been president the mass exodus, they have almost 30% of our business in mexico, car business, it is ridiculous. it is all stopped. it is all stopped. nobody is doing it. and now as you saw, in ohio, great state, unbelievable state, the only thing i had was general motors closed lordstown plant, its big lordstown plant. i called up mary barra, i said, mary, sell it or open it. she didn't like the way i talked to her. i don't care. doesn't matter to me. you sell the plant or open it. she sold it to a company that will do a good job making electric trucks. thank you all he is much i appreciate it. [applause] connell: all right, president trump live from the white house, wrapping up an event if you joined late was to announce a
4:26 pm
167 billion-dollar aid package for farmers hit by the trade war -- 16 billion. when he took questions we went a whole different range of directions. >> oh, yeah. he basically talked about everything under the sun. we are keeping our eyes on that. sometimes he goes back says something to the microphones. won't -- there was time spent on speaker pelosi, dust-up yesterday, from mueller et cetera, but some of the news came out of this, i don't know you picked up the huawei piece. i let you do that. connell: it was interesting at the end when he was asked about the chinese firm huawei how they might be part of any trade deal eventually reached with china of the president said it is possible huawei would be included in the trade deal. there was follow-up on reporter how that would be structured. the president didn't give a direct answer. it is not exactly clear what he meant by that. that would seem to be important given attacks back and forth on the company especially in recent days.
4:27 pm
>> you can guess right now they're on a blacklist. they could be removed from that as a result of a trade deal. that was interesting. he talked a lot about how the chinese are paying tariffs. i said you don't have to buy chinese goods if you don't want to. he talked about the usmca. i think that is probably the biggest concern. i would talk to our panel about that. does this latest dust-up with the democrats, usmca is the next thing to go through that needs to get their signature, get the sign-off, over the hurdle, important for the economy. this is trade deal that is done. they need to sign off on it. we want to see how that goes. connell: we'll talk about that coming up. you've been saying, the president says nancy pelosi is a mess and doesn't even understand the usmca anyway. melissa: there was a lot of colorful language and names in there. >> in the middle of all that, markets finished off the lows. start with blake burman at the white house. your job to wrap up all that.
4:28 pm
reporter: compliment to both of you i want to start exactly where you started the news on huawei i think possibly could have been the single biggest piece of news out of that news conference from the president because remember, administration officials here at the white house had been very, very clear to say huawei is one issue. it's a security issue. it has absolutely nothing to do with the trade deal. trade deal is its own thing. huawei is its own thing. let's separate those two. president trump totally blew that out of the water a few minutes ago, it is possible that huawei could be part of a trade deal with china. he said he was optimistic, at some point china would want to get a deal done. there are questions whether or not a deal could get done. now apparently issue of huawei, one of the largest telecommunications giant in china, now appears to be on the table as it relates to a possible deal with china. certainly a reversal here from
4:29 pm
the administration. of course all of this took place as the president was inside of the roosevelt room surrounded by farmers to announce a new assistance package, a bailout if you want to call it that, to the tune of some $16 billion to of course help out farmers that have been caught, adversely affected in the middle of this trade war with china. 14 1/2 billion or so going to farmers as direct payments to farmers. another billion 1/2 or so in purchases and the president continued to contend it would be china who would pay for all of this. watch. >> comes from china. we'll be taking in over a period of time hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs and charges to china and our farmers will be greatly helped. reporter: of course to be clear on all of this, you heard some of the line of questioning inside of the roosevelt room, china has no plans to make direct payments to the u.s. and when you talk to economists and
4:30 pm
when you talk to business executives, they will tell you that imports end up passing a long a lot of costs down to the consumer but the president continues to run out that line china is going to pay for this. in any event a host of news, connell, melissa, in that, what turned out to be a press conference, i think top of the fold being what he said on huawei. connell: agree on huawei. more than we bargained for. thank you. shah ghailani, jon hilsenrath. fox news contributor. jon, let me start with you. i want to focus on president's comments. i don't know exactly what he meant by that but at least to my memory it is first time he kind of put the two together, the trade negotiations and issues with this chinese firm, huawei, might be one and the same, might be on the table.
4:31 pm
what did you take on that? >> certainly jumped out to me. i was talking to my colleague bob davis, who is covering these trade negotiations the other day and he was saying he thought it was impossible that huawei wasn't somehow in the mind of administration officials as they negotiate these issues with china. you know, it is kind of like the president says, you can't have two negotiations going on at the same time with the democrats. you can't be arguing about, you know, about impeachment and russia, also negotiating infrastructure at the same time. by the same token, you can't be talking to the chinese about trade on one hand and huawei on the other and say they have nothing to do with each other. so the president kind of just came out and confirmed, yeah, i mean if he can use it, i think what he meant, if he can use it as bargaining chip he will. connell: rig take them off that so-called blacklist, shah. does it make sense to you? would you go as far to sayitivee
4:32 pm
likely, that we're moving towards making some sort of a deal, that the president is putting this company on the table or is that not a way to read it? >> i found it very interesting he did put it on the table. it surprised me. i think the two are separate issues. one is security issue. one is a trade issue. bringing two together, investors saying how will you bring the two together when they're separate issues, combine them in some kind of a trade deal? there are different implications for trade and security. i find it interesting. i wouldn't it president a lot a lloyd -- put a lot of credence that as part of the negotiation. connell: bargaining chip maybe. melissa: joining us to react is a republican strategist, lauren clappy, robin biro, former regional director for the obama campaign i guess it is supposed to say. robin, let me ask you, do you think the usmca is in jeopardy
4:33 pm
now? that was sort of a little bit of question, tone from the president. it's a deal that is down. but now if you're looking for leverage, that would be what congress has. everybody is really furious with each other right now. >> exactly. lots of fingerpointing. melissa: would it be a bad move for democrats to put the kibosh on this deal? >> melissa, it absolutely would a bad move for us especially headed into 2020. we just regained house, if we can't get something done, there is lots of fingerpointing right now. donald trump, president trump pointing fingers to democratic house. it is up to voters, up to voters in 2020 but we have to get this done. president just told congress two days ago he wanted usmca passed before infrastructure. i think infrastructure will be a long stretch. we might not see that until next year. but we have to get this done now, melissa. melissa: lauren, do you think the deal is in jeopardy, the usmca? >> i think so. i think at this point both camps
4:34 pm
will dig in. it will take a lot of political pressure from the outside to pet chuck schumer and nancy pelosi back to the table with president trump. they can't hold this against president trump to move forward, it will be a good fool for them. especially with mexico moved forward for the deal and approval process they will have to approve it in some form or fashion. agree with my counterpart, congress has to get this done if they will do anything or be successful in 2020. melissa: robin, different demands democrats made mexico went bizarrely alongwith, changed their labor lawyers. there are all kinds of things. is it possible to make an argument this isn't a good deal for america? could democrats sell that, do you think? >> not at this point. we pretty much have what we want from my side of the aisle. this is a good deal. chuck schumer himself pretty
4:35 pm
