we always come together. we also appreciate your expertise. the prov provocations brought on recently on top of the general mayhem that iran typically creates in the region. what's happening here? >> you named it. iran is trying to blackmail the u.s. to stop with the sanctions. they are trying to create i os in the region. now it's coming to the sensitive location where 30% of the world's oil supply comes from the gulf. it's what they want to do, to put pressure. the u.s. will not give into the pressure coming from iran.

of the nuclear deal with a different monitoring system. they have been very resistant. while the u.k. says there is no doubt this is the work of iran, germany not so much here. there are a lot of european countries seem to be standing in the back of the room not want to go commit to one side or the other. >> they say, we are the boots to iran. the companies are pulling out from iran. major companies aren't vulnerable. airbus is pulling out of iran. charles: here in the united states there is scepticism whether there iran is behind this. some are questioning whether saudi arabia is behind the

situation. is there a motive or a possibility that there could be another culprit here? >> it's absolutely iran behind that. they spend $7 billion a year for chaos. the egyptians and jordanians, the saudis. i think what the u.s. is doing is the right thing to do. charles: ambassador, how do you think it will end? >> i think it iranians will have to come back and renegotiate the agreement. charles: they are given a 10-day. some say low grade uranium could be enriched. do you think they will blink and come back to the negotiating table? >> they are panicking.

extension of the chinese government. there are lawsuits that have already been settled. where do you come down on this? what should we be concerned about? >> we should be concerned about not only american entities using huawei products, but also our allies. i sat in a briefing with analysts and experts on this. they were adamant. huawei is subsidized heavily by the chinese government making them a chinese government entity, and they have invented things in the systems they have produced and that are being used by ourselves and our allies. they have the ability to collect data. the interview you just showed as far as i'm concerned was a con job on behalf of huawei.

charles: that being said. there is some talk in the administration that huawei could be part of the grand bargain with china. could there be any circumstancee where we would trust huawei enough to let them be part of our 5g communications? >> i don't think i would trust them. i don't think the u.s. intelligence agency would trust them. allies using anything produced by huawei will not be able to get classified intelligence from the united states. i don't they will we'll go down that road even as part of the trade negotiations. charles: we are sending more troops to iran and obviously it

what i believe is misleading is when we look at what the press is saying. it indicates the united states is brand-new to the cyber intrusion techniques. that's not true. we have been doing this for 15-20 years. we have been doing to other adversarial countries what they have been doing to us. the trick is to not let them know you were there or let them know in some instances you were there to lead them in the wrong direction as to what to look for. we are always three to four technologies beyond what the public is aware of. and i'm sure we are doing that for the military industrial complexes and the power grids. but i think we also looks at our adversaries, somebody like russia. some islamic extremists are bright people who also do these

candidates, run primaries, air advertisements, other than committee assignments, the speakership doesn't have a lot of powers. i believe there's a lot of discontent on the progressive side though especially in these outside groups. i don't think it's as much in congress as aoc would like. charles: i will say this though, this freshman class has been very vocal, and they have been very controversial, and, you know, chris, some of it, i think, gets back to identity politics and policies of division and envy. and ironically, it's turning on the party itself. they used it for a long time against remonies, but now they're -- republicans, but now they're having to grapple with it. >> and they've looked at the democratic party in the past with envy saying why don't you guys have the in-fighting that we have with the tea party. now they do, and it's now identity politics where someone like nancy pelosi who's as liberal and progressive as they basically get is now someone who's called a traitor because she's the wrong color, too old,

this or that. it's identity politics, and it's not something that i would be -- i would not want to be nancy pelosi dealing with this crew. charles: on that note, you know, she's got the usmca, she's dragging her feet on that. everyone says it's a great deal. and it feels like, you know, whether she calls president trump, accuses him of covering up or holding this hostage, this is her way of sort of appeasing the progressives in her party by not getting anything done. >> she might have a revolt if she got something done for the president. they weren't elected to put forward an agenda, they were elected to resist. that's why she's the speaker right now. she gave the president a win on anything, she would be in trouble a lot with her caucus, and that's part of the democratic game plan right now. i don't think it's going to work out too great for them in the next election, but i know their base would turn on them if they gave the president a single win no matter what they agree on on it. charles: so no usmca, no infrastructure deal, none of that, chris?
