is fit for office. that is it for us this week. for the latest show updates follow me on twitter, facebook and instagram. join us next week will analyze the outcome of the second round of the democratic presidential debates right here on the wall street journal at large. thank you for joining us. state. it's been perhaps his greatest week of his entire presidency and ending on a friday with another high note or two or three. the supreme court has just cleared the way for the trump administration to use federal money to build the trump border wall. it will be a reality. the president also today announcing a deal with guatemala restricting illegal immigrants who would seek asylum in the united states.

we will have much more on that as well. and second-quarter gdp growth beating expectations and on wall street the nasdaq and the s&p closing out the week with new all-time highs. no wonder the most recent polling shows americans more optimistic than they have been in decades. the radical dems on the other hand are in disarray and full denial. dismissing the exculpatory the mueller report, denying the disaster that was the mueller appearance on capitol hill and abandoning their traditional role of the party not in power as the loyal opposition. the democrats have decided to take a disloyal course of scorching destructive attacks against president trump's administration and the republican party and indeed the american people. today victims declared their

big win for border security and the rule of law. if i may add for the american people. just days after the president threatened tariffs and a travel ban on guatemala the government of guatemala has agreed to put human smugglers out of business and provide safety for asylum-seekers through the third nation policy. president trump signing the agreement this afternoon in the oval office requiring illegals who travel through guatemala to seek asylum there instead of the united states. president trump says he is getting results despite the opposition, the disloyal opposition of the radical dems. >> i think it's a disgrace what the democrats are doing. it's so sad to see how they are impeding all the good things we are doing like as an example today at the border and we are

strengthening with the great country and with other great countries that are going to be signing at also. we are doing this all because the democrats won't give us what we need to it so simple, get rid of the loopholes, work on asylum it would take a sure period of time. all they want to do is impede. they want to investigate. they want to go fishing. lou: they want to overthrow this president. joining us to take this up former political director leading republican strategist and "fox business" political analyst ed rollins. what a week the president has had. >> extraordinary and the supreme court decision on the closing day is a critical decision. this is going to make a lot of these federal judges think they can top this president from doing what he thinks is important to this country the courts ruling 5-4 today basically saying he can spend the money and the resources.
10:06 pm
obviously it's a very loud clear message and a very important message. it is his priority. it should be his priority for what it's done is that great step forward for building the wall. >> the country policy agreement now with guatemala the president frustrated because guatemala saying they wouldn't do this just a few days ago. he threatened tariffs and he made it very clear that it would be a very painful results for the government of guatemala to be playing political games with him. >> all the distractions distractions with a new report and what have stayed focused on this issue. he and the state department people got the deal. to critical deal. one of the most extraordinary weeks of any president in modern times and all the things you have said the guatemala deal the supreme court decision and the economic growth figures today, mueller clearly not being that big gun the democrats have.

he was very weak and didn't have anything in their reality as most people who watch those hearings thought there should never have been the second section. there was no obstruction of justice and no collusion. let's move on and let the president do his job. lou: obviously they are committed to scorched earth to actually it's more than political. it is a civil resistance to this president, a civil disobedience, disloyalty, the party of opposition. it's supposed to be the loyal party of opposition. it has become something so grotesque in its ugliness, its hatred. it is the party of hate. did you ever think you would see a party move to this level in our two-party system? >> absolutely not. the reality is the facts -- i

>> most definitely. the trump strategic offensive to isolate iran diplomatically and economically is truly working for the iranians are back on their heels. they have always been a dangerous determined foe for 40 years but i have never seen them so hapless. at every turn they make they are losing and what's happening here their mission from their perspective was to put pressure on the united states, isolate them because of the international community that the iranians have created a crisis. as opposed to that happening the allies have come together with the united states and you have mentioned in the introduction yes we are going to oversee a maritime protection operation in the golf and the strait of hormuz and the uk france netherlands and denmark are also going to participate. obviously we are going to provide surveillance and some protection ourselves. very good things.
10:19 pm
lou: let me turn to a very good thing as you point out and meanwhile iran still has carried out successfully these attacks without significant consequence. the firing of a missile yesterday, it's interesting to watch the patience of this administration. the president has been i think that's exactly the word for it, very patient and it says this this administration understands that there is almost an embedded strategic judgment about american power that it would be reflexive and neocons would move to the forefront and immediately there would be engaged and whether it was the policies of north korea, whether it's syria, whether it is indeed afghanistan or at one point iraq. >> there is no doubt about that.

the patients the president has shown his exact to the right call. they did on the shootdown of the american drone showed their strength and what's really happening here because the iranians are back on their heels , i mean every option they have taken in their playbook they are not able to accomplish what they want and that's to isolate the united states. what's happening with the missiles, they fire off these missiles periodically. they have done a 25 or 30 times since the nuclear deal was signed. why are they doing that? they do that to remind the people who they have a chokehold on that this is a very powerful nation and to remind allies in the region that we have and also their allies that they are still a first-rate military in the region and that's why they are doing it. there is no military significance to us and the fact that we called them out on it but take no action is the right call.
10:21 pm
lou: and what is the right call and you and i have talked about this for the past really two years. china and russia coming together they are building obviously clearly a real alliance that is designed to frustrate u.s. foreign-policy and to assure their influence if not domination. >> there is no doubt about that in this administration for me outside this identified the majors to take it change in the world and that is the united states is a big power competition with russia and china and the fact that even in the 2.5 years of the administration those two powers of move closer together calls into our commitment to comprehensive willingness to confront both of them. we have to take the gloves off here and recognize that they are adversaries, not just

competitors. does the meat we are trying to pull triggers and go to war but they need to know that we have resolved and we are going to work with our allies in terms of our national interests. lou: strategically i think back to the 50s when there was henry kissinger who had pushed forward mutually-assured destruction and built our nuclear policy around that concept. this seems a time when we are watching china bragging about its 2 million man army which can be matched at least in numbers by the north koreans. russia with its significant ground troops and advanced weaponry of all sorts including hypersonic missiles. this is a nation that seems to be now that might be contemplating what is the strategy for the future and it might be one that is designed never to put boots on the ground

to assure simply the destruction of enemies who would harm the united states and take actions that are clearly meant to be devastating and outright destructive of the u.s. interest. what do you think about a higher-level strategy? >> well i think it's very appropriate and it's got to be comprehensive all of government in concert with our allies and it has to have a major strategic focus. it has to transcend political economic information operations and yes military deterrence. the reason why we were so successful with the cold war certainly the ideological difference was an issue but the united states had a significant military deterrence that kept the russians back on their heels that's why this defense budget is so important lou and we have got to catch up. 19 years of 9/11 wars we have gotten way behind in sequestration pushes us even further. that's something the chinese and

today is the biggest day. two big events happened. let's are but the latest one i then had the chance to read the full opinion because it was literally breaking as i came into the studio but the supreme court ruled that donald trump can use military funding to build the wall. lou: that is obviously critical. the wall will be built and the radical downs with all of their lying, their freshness -- viciousness and their hate it looks like they are going to be able to block this because the laws on this president sighed. he is on the side of the law and this constitution in this country that the democrats have a very difficult threshold to overcome i believe now. he is running at every level. >> and lou thinking about this, 2.5 willie and lou around 10 million a mile. could be a little less are little more. the president will negotiate an even better deal but let's say
10:32 pm
it's 250 miles for the 2.5 billion. in texas that's what we need to go forward and secure the border from brownsville on the gulf coast all the way to an area called fountain lake near laredo. if we can get all those funds are much of those funds we can pretty much put a wall or big barriers. the second thing and what you said is so right on. the democrats have put up a wall to block him and he's found a way to go around them. it's such a major decision. the second thing today the third-party agreement with quad ramallah. some media reported, not fox but some media said it was a dead deal. that means people coming from honduras and nicaragua as third-party country that's where they have to ask for asylum. they can come to our country and ask for asylum. some will try to get around it obviously that this will stop them in guatemala and that's
10:33 pm
where most of our people are coming from including guatemala from central america. that's where most of the people are coming so this now means they are from honduras or nicaragua or anywhere south we can send them right to guatemala. obviously the president carved out a very lucrative deal in my view with the guatemalan government where they have 60% of the people in poverty and honduras 65% poverty so i'm sure they put this deal together. you have that to the threat of tariffs on mexico since they pulled the terrace back in mexico put 6000 troops on their southern border with guatemala on the northern border are rare pretensions up and down about 25% in may and june. so this significant development just today added to the mexico help we may see a dramatic reduction in and if that happens i think he's going to win next turn away but he will win by a
