the federal reserve did cut the rates 25 basis points. it won't affect the 30-year mortgage because the market priced that in. not everyone on the voting committee agreed with this decision. there were two dissenters. thinking that the rates should have stayed where they were. during the question and answer part, the federal reserve chairman, the market made a wild swing indicating seemingly the federal reserve would be done cutting rates, later clarified. >> what i said was it's not the beginning of a long series of rate cuts. i didn't say it's just one. when you think about rate-cutting cycles, they go on for a long time, and the committee isn't seeing that. reporter: president trump wanted to see a 50 basis point cut.
