situation. some, obviously, have the capability to last quite a while whereas others it is ten tenuous and depends what commodity and some of the other trade difficulties we've experienced. >> which farmers would be impacted the most are we talking about soybean farmers, corn, fruit farmers what do you think? >> yeah. certainly with china is -- soybeans and pork probably would be the two hard pest hit and specialty kros crops like fruits i know some of the nut growers have said that this has been very tiflt difficult for them if again the runway is short and tracee we entered this not in the best economic situation as it was farm income has been on a pretty bad downward turn since 2015 and so --

a lot of agriculture in tough shape before the trade war started so this is not taking things a direction we hoped it would go. >> i want to bring up a statistic from a recent survey this was the perdue center for commercial agriculture. they say 78% of farmers in july said that they believe that trade war will ultimately benefit u.s. agriculture. do you agree with that? do you think farmers will still agree with that number? do you think they still support the president in this trade war? >> well i think if farmers are beginning to ask, or continuing to ask what is ultimate goal here and what is victory look like? is the goal achievable and staffs the right method to be using and when we started down this path, about we were told that goal was to reduce the trade deficit and then it became about the u.s. manufacturing jobs. but it seems like maybe it is
