liz: thank you for joining us, you're watching the fox business network. let's get to edward lawrence in washington on trump impeachment in the ukraine controversy. >> the president donald trump met face-to-face with the president of the ukraine, they both answered questions about the call july 25 and what democrats say the president crossed the line asking for an investigation into the company involved former vice president's son. the president almost disheartened, this is what we are talking about at the united nations general assembly. >> the democrats in congress who will not give us a single vote to take care of loopholes, we have loopholes that are so horrible and it would be so easy to fix and we know they should be fixed but they don't want to do it because they don't want to give trump any credit. it's all about the election that's all they care about. they don't care about the country they only care about the election review the democrats

and also stepping aside devon has left the online marketplace citing conflicts with the war. what is going on. back to you. liz: jerry great to see. let's get right to fox news contributor and former white house press secretary sarah sanders. welcome to "the evening edit". >> great to see you. thank you for having me on. here's what's going on, democrats said yesterday it's an impeachable offense with a pro quote of holding back military aid to the ukraine. it's about asking a foreign leader to look into a political rival. europe take on all this questioning. >> i think the democrats have so much egg on their face, i think that calling for impeachment over this may be one of the dumbest and most embarrassing political moves that we have seen, i think it's so bad, i said this earlier today, it's so bad they need to file to the president's campaign because it's helping get him reelected.

it showing that the democrats have no real solution, they're not focused on building the country up only tearing the president down. if you look at the contrast of what is taking place over the last 24 hours, he of the president of the un general assembly making a major billion-dollar trade deal with japan which will do a vast amount of good for our ranchers and farmers in the united states and in contrast, yet the democrats writing about a foreign leader call in which the foreign leader himself said there was no pressure. i think they look awfully ridiculous and hopefully this will be one more lesson in teaching them to quit trying to tear the president down and let's focus on doing good things for the country and let's get some work done. liz: is it right for a president to ask about a foreign leader to help look into a political rival? >> the president was asking to look into corruption. the president taught them on draining a swamp and he is doing exactly that. the ukrainian leader had also

campaigned on that. i don't think there is anything wrong with the president having this conversation. he put it out there for the whole world to see exactly what the conversation looks like. if anything, democrats sent a similar letter back in may of 2018 asking ukraine leadership to do exactly what the president did in looking into corruption. i don't think there's anything wrong with the united states with a significant amount of money to one country making sure that that country country money is being well spent and not properly spent. that is actually the president fulfilling his promise to make sure were draining the swamp and using our resources. liz: did the president delay $4 million and military aid to ukraine for corruption or overbite in? >> my understanding, this took place because of corruption and they were making sure that this money was not being misused or

mishandled. i know that they had a lot of problems with that in ukraine. that is the reason that this person has now become president is because he campaigned on getting rid of corruption in ukraine. it is no surprise that the president would want to make sure that the money that the united states is heading to another country is being used for what it's being given for. >> i don't think that the responsible thing that the president cares it's been used for the correct thing. liz: wall street is betting that trump will not be impeached. they are nose diving on that. the president's approval rating is around 45% according to politics average poles. there say that the democrats are trying to push the approval rating down so does not get reelected. here's another question that came up with the conversation. the conversation between the president and the leader of ukraine happened today after mueller testified to congress. the president was asked the leader of ukraine to look into

crowd strike. that is a cybersecurity firm which concluded russia had hacked an e-mail in 2016. our president asked about a server whether it holds hillary's e-mails, but there is no server involved. it was a simple hack. your take? >> the president is concerned about election meddling and he was to make sure we have integrity in the system. he has taken whole government approach led by the department of homeland security to look at election meddling. if barack obama and joe biden had taken that same type of government approach and been serious about protecting the integrity of our election, the mueller situation may have never existed because we would not be siding over whether or not russia interfered in our election. that happened under obama's watch and they met up taken that little more seriously like this president is to make sure we did not have that happen again. liz: michael pence talking to the own lou dobbs saying the president has been vindicated. >> the president said a week ago, he did nothing wrong.

the transcript reveals that despite reckless accusations in the media and by democrats on capitol hill that the president had threatened aid to ukraine to demand a specific backed that never happened. the transcript is clear on that point. the ironic thing, the only time it did happen that we know about is when former vice president joe biden threatened over a billion dollars in aid to ukraine over specific act. but in this case, the president has been completely vindicated. liz: sarah, along with that, nancy pelosi has said, what is more serious is that he, meaning trump, he cannot win. alexander cortez has because of his policies, he cannot be reelected. your take on all of that and what you just heard? >> this could not be more simple. this is nothing more than the

liz: growing fears tonight that this impeachment inquiry could derail president trump's plan to get a new deal. and nasdaq 2.0. we are on capitol hill with the story. reporter: a meeting this morning by house democrats was not about impeachment. house speaker nancy pelosi brought in several weeks ago eight members who are working specifically on the usmc a. she deputized them to negotiate changes. that is to the house democrats are from this week. a course the question is whether or not impeachment star so cloud all other legislative issues on capitol hill. i asked that question to team jeffries, the democratic caucus. >> our goal is to get to yes. and to reach an agreement with the arena station.

records show that president nixon continued to work with democratic led house and senate on an agenda on behalf of the markham people and president clinton continue to work with the republican-controlled house and senate in 1998 on behalf of the market people in the same thing should happen this time around. reporter: lindsey graham republican senator from south carolina is what we call an impeachment manager when they had the trial of president clinton in the senate in 1999, the house impeached and they sent over house members to present the case to the senate. lindsey graham says that that did not go very well for republicans after the impeached president clinton. >> i don't know, i just know this, i know and might've turned out 1998. reporter: i talked earlier with the house majority leader if they could walk into gum at the same time and here's what he said, there is no warm and fuzzy

feeling between house democrats in the president. but it's income net that we work together. there is no timeline to put the musmc eight on the floor but i'm told things look good and expect to have it late this year. liz: great reporting. thank you so much. tonight there is plenty of evidence that the market will survive the trump impeachment. but it could get battered in the process. look who is back here with us, wells fargo, senior economist one of the smartest guys around. mark bittner. we just heard nasa, we know the democrats are underwater with a number of policies that they have gotten enacted into law, 56 versus 60. so maybe nasdaq, what is your take, will they get drug pricing or any of that done? >> i do not think you get an infrastructure build on it. that is just way too, ransom. but i do think that we might get china trade on.

that's one of the things they got the market turned around today. there is something out there that the president might be more inclined to make a deal or to break up the deal with china, i don't think he would do a bad deal but he might take some of the easier to solve problems upfront with a commitment to get to the harder to solve issues early next year. liz: okay, let's look back on this. this is what we have to go on, history suggests wall street should not worry because the republican senate will not convict a republican president, the 1998 impeachment of the president bill clinton was a nothing burger. in your opinion, does this depend on the economic backdrop? >> it depends on the economic backdrop but also -- markets don't like uncertainty, it depends on whether or not we see that there serious impeached charges that come about. right now, it is very difficult to see that right now. when you look through the transcript, you can read it

whichever way you wanted to interpret it. but it does not seem to be the end-all. liz: there was a recession under nixon from the end of 72 - 74 and the dow fell. we had the oil embargo crisis. and basically the gas line, the u.s. recession, and clinton economy was still pretty strong. i want to get to this, this is now blowing up in the 2020 democrat faces right now. single-payer, is there limi tesw numbers coming in and the u.s. government when it comes to government run health plans. look at this number, a 43% error rate and basically the amount that the obama ministration sent out to the states for medicaid and shift to cover the increased cost of obamacare, that money 277 million went out the door.

stories, tonight monsoon storms bring in flash flood warnings and damaging winds even tornadoes ripping through parts of iowa, kansas and wisconsin. gusts of up to 80 miles per hour. tennis ball size hail, also reported in nebraska and kansas. look at the story, the third-biggest cruise line says it will stop serving plastic water bottles by next year and instead you will get water and paper cartons. the move will effectively eliminate the use of 5 million plastic bottles a year on norwegian cruise lines. here's another story about patriots wide receiver antonio brown, the free agent back in court today video surfaced of him and others throwing furniture out of his condo and into a pool. he is accused of trashing the condo last year. the owners of the condo suing him for damages and no one was injured. look at this amazing video of an

got radix as bernie sanders was visiting gm workers at the picket line. he was shoved as he tried as a senator a question. grady joins us now. >> it was chaotic your earlier. that was around 11:00 o'clock or so this morning. just a few picketers out here now, when the senator arrived there was at least ten times as many people here. there was a lot of media as well and everybody wanted to ask a question. we did too. he was walking across the street, i tried to approach him and there you see me asking a question, and i don't know if it was private security or somebody who was surrounding him but that is when the shelf happen. and i stuck with it, he spoke on a pickup truck, the bed of the truck to the union workers and as he was leaving we went back

around and were able to ask the question we are trying to ask all along. liz: did senator sanders answer any questions on how unions will be unhappy, were hearing already, that his single-payer will wipe out their health coverage? >> that is exactly what i was trying to ask. you are exactly right, healthcare has been a huge issue during these negotiations. a lot of the union workers like the healthcare that they get through their company. so i was trying to ask, under medicare for all, would they lose that and if they like it would be an option for them. so what would you propose to them. he gave me a roundabout answer talking about how expensive health insurance cost in the united states and he did not specifically address the question but his campaign has said that they would make an exemption essentially for union workers under the medicare for all plan. and with the exemption they would be able to negotiate for wage increases.

liz: that is why unions exist, to negotiate better health insurance, we saw the same car built for unions under obamacare. right? catholic health insurance, that was all about that. so think here we go again. they did the big government plans but they give exemption to the favorite basis. right? >> right, so it's a big question of one, will he get elected and will that proposal go through. there is a lot of if's before that happens and i think you would see some pushback at least from some workers who like their plan that thereon right now. liz: grady trimble. stay safe out there. get a little feisty where you are at. senator elizabeth warren now beating joe biden in a pool, this as questions grow over whether joe biden can withstand 14 months of questions about the activities of his son hunter in ukraine and china.

president obama keeps his silence. with me is former federal prosecutor doug burns. thank you so much for joining us. you have been watching this unfold. your reaction to all of this? >> obviously is more political than legal. legally you look at the text of the constitution and impeachment is for treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. so you work off of that line. that line was a little confusing. and if you look at the history obviously the johnson impeachment, the bill clinton impeachment, you're left with what gerald ford said, the 38th president, impeachable offenses, whatever the house of representatives says it is on a particular day. i'm not being cute, the point is it's much more political than legal. my reaction, there was a hysterical overreaction to this phone conversation and obviously as a trial lawyer, i have worked with tape recordings for 34

years and we don't give opinions about it unless we listen to the tape. you have to watch everybody going on and on about a tape they have not heard. that is not academic because we have looked at a transcript, by the way, that has been conveniently changed to some type of summary of the call. liz: i have to move on, mark called at senate democrats for double standard and washington post, he said democrat senators bob anand s, richard durbin and patrick lahey rose to ukraine taught prosecutor about investigations having to do with the mueller probe applying -- let's listen to joe biden last year implied that president obama agreed with him about that back aid to ukraine. >> i got a commitment that they would take action against the state prosecutor in they did not. so they said they walked out of

the press conference and i said we are not quite to give you the billion dollars. they said you have no authority you're not the president. i said i'm telling you you are not getting a billion dollars. we waited six hours and the prosecutor is not hard you're not getting the money. leap. liz: did you hear that, call president obama. where is president obama on all this customer. >> i've seen that tape multiple times. it's breathtaking double standard. obviously in the fact of the matter is, you have conduct that will be problematic for joe biden. and i think that he has got to be concerned about what's going operate as far as president obama, it's very interesting that he has leaned very low, not getting involved in this and probably for good reason. this is not necessarily helping

you know how you could tell politician is lying, their lips are moving. these guys exhibit this every sigel day and this is another example of whether they're making up something and its politics, it's done to distract the voters with. that's what this is all about, they are not doing a thing about immigration, you have aborted that assistive, and infrastructure that is falling apart, roads and bridges, trade deals that are languishing that we need to do to in order to get the economy to grow so people can have opportunity in here these guys keep coming up with these things, impeachment was for high crimes and misdemeanors, it was for bribery, clear cases. here's a situation where the president had a conversation and he wanted to clean the swamp in the ukrainian guy brought up that he wanted to drain the swamp and the president agreed with him on that and said he ought to investigate.

let's get real with this stuff. all these people they keep talking about impeachment, it is just nonsense. liz: here's the thing, the media calls for impeachment started as early as march 2016, 7 months before trump was even elected. that's a daily news, impeach trump in march 2016. not to impeach trump into february 2016, that article had a link to a campaign to impeach trump, and in 2018, five months before she was even elected, alexandria ocasio-cortez wanted trump impeach. >> this president does not fit the model. he does not play along, he's a businessman who is used to getting things done just like me, and he is not a politician or someone that will play the game, he will drain the swamp and get things accomplished and all these guys are doing is trying to throw roadblock after roadblock. the american people are not
