intelligence officials on the russia investigation. he also said the president never once asked him to arrange the meetings that resulted between barr and italian intelligence. as an aside, i suppose in the future we'll have to say there was no quid pro quo in every international agreement we report or explain in trade agreements there was a satisfying level of quid pro quo, that is balanced and reciprocal trade. the quid pro quo nonsense will, us for at least another few weeks. there was a newfound confidence among house republicans. last week be only a third stood with president trump to withdraw our troops from syria. a decision that turns out to be a stroke of genius. and the president again as he has for three straight years

radical dimms who are holding secret hearings in their attempts to unseat the president. the action of these republicans leading adam schiff to suspend today's hearing. the republicans, god bless them for actually doing something. i am so impressed. schiff left the hearing with witness laura cooper. after entering the room the republicans ordered pizzas, and bags much chick-fil-a. jim jordan slammed schiff for his secrecy and said the american people deserve to know who the so-called whistleblower is. >> 435 members of the house representing over 300 mill americans. the only one of those 435 who know the individual who started this whole thing is adam schiff. why don't the rest of us know. more importantly, why don't the

lou: a bipartisan group of five senators led by lindsey graham, they want to talk with the commanding general of the kurdish led syrian forces, general mazloum is the central figure. they are urging the state department tonight, indeed the secretary of state to expedite a visa for mazloum so he can testify before congress about conditions on the ground in syria. it's bizarre that lindsey graham would be leading that effort.

to try to make sense out of it, we are joined by retired army colonel, dan davis. morgan wright, great to have you with us. and let me start with you, dan, if i may. this is wrather unseemly, i think to be as kind to see some senators telling the president's secretary of state what he should do with a visa for the head of the syrian defense forces after this president has just done something historic like create that ceasefire. your thoughts? >> this i think is indicative of many in washington. foreign policy so-called political elite that want to keep us in every war that ever happened forever. the biggest one is they have a bad misunderstanding of what troops on the ground are accomplishing and it's not much.

level didn't completely set politics aside. i worked in law enforcement for a number of years. i was an attorney general. just setting politics aside to keep our community safe, whether it's local, state or our whole country. the consequences are death and crimes that don't have to happen. and the federal government's tools here other than actually going ahead and i.c.e. exercising their powers to remove people are very limited. i would point out to you that it is harder for i.c.e. to do its job. that's why the states and local politicos do this when they don't have cooperation or at a backup from the local authorities. it puts officers at risk. people obeying the laws, enforcing the laws congress put

lou: joining me tonight, gordon chang. let's start with the china trade talks. hard to get a read on what's going on. the president says the papering will follow me. but it seems like a series of somewhat agreement rather than ring i'd and predictable process that results in an agreement. >> i wouldn't call them a deal because both sides said they need additional meetings to paper them over.

lou: the vice premier called them a pause. >> the vice premier stood there and president trump said the chinese are going to buy $40 to $50 billion of u.s. agriculture. then the official news agent significant said we didn't agree to do that. lou: they are apparently buying soybeans from brazil. >> they bought some from the u.s. as well. if the chinese felt there wasn't a deal, they could tell it to president trump. it's not like this is the first time they have done this. deal after deal after deal. lou: the president making it clear he's optimistic about it.
