six and three quarters, mastic down 25 and a half and last trading day for the month of november. it's been a strong november. asia, there is pressure overseas a lot of this has to do with the back-and-forth between the chinese and us officials especially the overnight remarks from the chinese and right now you see those averages in the red. looking at europe we have a bit of a mixed bag, quiet to trading session on their friday. one of the biggest shopping is a beer and fox business is at the heart and soul of black friday across america. my cohost a lauren simonetti is the luxury store outlet mall, the berg and how center and jackie is a menlo park paul-- mall in new jersey. let's get right to it with

jackie. how is the action this morning? >> good morning. it's still dark here and at the small, the mall opens at 6:00 a.m. officially but some stores here and there open inside and people are milling around. macy's behind me has been open since 5:00 p.m. last night trying to capture the holiday shopper that wanted to get to the mall and walk around a bit, but a lot riding on black friday. last year $6.2 billion in revenue on this day alone and expectations that average consumer will spend about $400 if they come out today and so far it's been a pretty gangbusters. november 1, until now, $63 billion, 60% higher than what we saw last year, but this is a challenging day because the brick and mortar with online monday. they will have cyber monday deals that everyone will shop for and the question is, will

people come out today, is black friday the same tradition he was when people can get such great deals everywhere online and everything is deeply discounted for the holidays? this holiday season is a six days of shorter than average because thanksgiving seemed late so it will be interesting to see how the consumers at shape up. as some people are already out at this dark hour. >> jackie delay and gelato in new jersey and we will come back to you throughout the hour. now let's head to chicago famous state street where grady is live are people out there waiting for those stores to open? >> it's actually pretty quiet, not like maybe five or 10 years ago when people would have lined up waiting for the stores to open at midnight. right now, we are kind of the only people crazy enough to stand out here because these stores are open, but what's happened is there's been a shift for stores have started to open on thanksgiving day and that's

when all the shoppers rush to get the door busters and deals. been no stores) you hours and reopen so that's what we are dealing with here and that's why it's bit quieter. the national retail federation is expecting 114 million people most likely to go shopping today on black friday, down from the past couple of years, but they say they will spend more money and on top of that they added between online and in the store sales, 47%, about half people will start shopping in stores versus 41% online, so there's still a lot of people shopping today, it's just a matter of when they will start their day, probably not as early as a few years ago. we are keeping an i on the big-box stores and we will be inside a target later this morning. they have big deals including things like amazon echo, ipads so we will keep an eye on those

colder air especially in eastern half of the us with freezing new york city, 32 and largely across the entire country temperatures in the mid- to low 30s. out west is a winter type weather. that continues. they have winter storm watches and warnings covering a huge portion of the western half of the country, stretching back to california and running up with the northern plains. at the red areas are blizzard warnings with visibility down under a quarter of a mile and heavy snow for at least three hours with a lot of snowfall piling up across the upper planes and upper midwest from now over the next couple of days. you see snow continuing to fall in that region, but it is the system that will linger and eventually lift its way up to the north bringing more snowfall across this area. future forecast: team to the north with some of the spots as much as

restart these talks or make this a more meaningful conversation. cheryl: jack come i mean the president has been clear he wants the troops draw down, not complete withdrawal but a drawdown. is that the motivation, possibly? >> it is, but keep in mind the troops the president visited yesterday were probably not born or were one or two years old when we first went to afghanistan. that's far too long, 2400 americans have died, 19 this year alone. he is a president that can be negotiate and he's done very well recently in syria and pulling together troops and working with turkey, so he can bring the parties together. the taliban controls half the country right now and you have to sit down with them. there will be back and forth in any peace negotiation and you have

to come to the table, but you have to have the ability to walk away as well if the other size doesn't cooperate and the president has done that, but i think all americans should be behind the effort because it's time to bring our troops home, maybe not 100%, but from about 12000 to 8600 and i think that's an admirable goal. cheryl: eighteen years, jack, to your point. i want to point out usmc eight now, there's a possibility this deal could be brought to the floor next week, but from your experience, it seems to be an aggressive timeline. >> is not aggressive when you think about the speaker has had this on her desk now, for over a year and she could've moved canada and mexico already have. nancy pelosi and the democrats have filed impeaching the president over governing and right now, we are on a continuing appropriation bill, continuing resolution. this congress has done

rise about 4%. to double last year's growth which was her by the start of the trade war with china a year ago and here we are now. let's bring in chief strategist mike. is the consumer healthy this year, do you think the forecast for more shopping is on target? >> it's hard to overstate how healthy the consumer is right now. we have the greatest labor market in the history of the country. looking at the weekly jobless claims around 215,000 is the average and last time was the late 1960s and our neighbor-- labor force has doubled we are in great shape with 1.2 million more jobs available and when you look at the consumer specifically, a lot talking of debt, when you look at the debt compared to assets it's at the lowest level in 30 years. cheryl: good. >> look at the percentage of consumer take-home pay check, lowest level in 30 years compared to debt.

disposable income up 17% over the last three years while the savings rate is to have times what it was going into the financial crisis so we are in great shape. cheryl: disposable income up 17% over the last three years and that's a good point as we going to see what consumers will do. behavior is interesting as you mentioned the dead issue, there's also good consumer confidence out there, but does it mean they will spend more? the dollar amount that the retail companies will watch for end as i mentioned with a shortened holiday shopping season. >> with the ability to shop-- shop online and get whatever you want i don't know the difference makes much you know one week less because of thanksgiving being late will make a huge difference. i think will challenge certain retailers from a logistical sense to fulfill a lot of those orders but beyond that i

think this will be a good holiday season and ever since the financial crisis, we have seen it measured exuberance and measured spending from everyone, so we haven't really gotten the tips yet, but right now, we are looking good. cheryl: i went to ask you, we had records for the markets wednesday, last day of trading for the month of november with china trade war still going on and a lot of back and forth with the chinese especially since the president signed the bill supporting protesters. where are we at right now? >> it was good timing after the market closed with all-time highs in to give thanksgiving for everyone to absorb that. futures are down, i say had he done this and the month was open yesterday we would've been down bigger, but china doesn't have a lot of options. our economy is booming and there have been the slowest go in 25 years. yesterday you saw american flags waving in hong kong, so hopefully

[cheers and applause] lauren: that's how you entice people off the couch, the phone and into the mall. cheryl: you also got think you have a lot more to talk about with a guest you want to bring in to discuss the issue of black friday and shopping. all the numbers, they have to love it. lauren: we have jason wolseley joining us now with adobe work jason, are you there? >> i'm here. how are you? lauren: jason, we are so curious to get your input on what exactly is going on throughout the country. i have people lined up at 5:00 a.m. outside a brick-and-mortar, but they are here for a goodie bag. goodie bag and tested them to the mall. is it all line, is that where it sat? >> we see tremendous

growth in online and it's not surprising. we see more and more folks using their mobile device, their tablet and doing research trying to draw people into the stores is the name of the game right now. i'm not surprised the goodie bags are being used as part of that enticement, but the brick-and-mortar retailers have tremendous advantages, i mean, when you look at the buy online pickup in-store phenomenon, we have 40% growth in folks using this technique and that's a drawing people into the brick-and-mortar stores where they will continue to shop. resource shows about 82% of folks i go into purchase something they picked up online will continue to shop when they get to the store, so there is still a lot of good news for off-line retail segment as well. lauren: that's refreshing to hear. although, we heard this in the package we just read from our reporter mike gunzelman is that people have anxiety when it comes to shopping in a traditional store because they are big and

sometimes outdated and you can't find someone to help. there is the ease of doing it online. >> exactly and although the retailers are doing a good job of trying to convey that in-store experience into the online market and that's why we have such tremendous growth in online. we will be over $143 billion in online sales this year and that is up almost 15% year-over-year so that incredible thing in terms of what we are doing c2 143 billion for online sales, but it's still a fraction of everything spent in stores, so what is the percentage of online to traditional brick-and-mortar store sales? >> @adobe we do most of our analysis on the online section so i don't really have great information in terms of how-- lauren: it's close to a chilean dollars. >> for sure. lauren: so, still the argument we are making is that everyone i talk to and most people shop

online, still a 10th of overall sales. what are the best deals you could fight your black friday weekend? >> cyber week will do over 20% of the overall holiday sales and when you look at which they will give you the best deal, our analysis and we work with over 80 of the top 100 retailers shows on black friday you will save a ton on sporting a clinic, you will save tremendously on electronics and when you get into toys, december 1, tends to be the best day for toys and cyber monday is your tv block blusters within kernel 30% discount on television on cyber monday so it's kind of interesting to watch how the changes go through the overall week and what products are hot and when. lauren: jason, thank you so much for joining us this black friday. cheryl? cheryl: that was interesting. mike is still on that with me and she's talking about the same thing you found out on the streets of new york.
