this holiday season. another possible nail in the coffin for brick and mortar stores. consumers jumped online over the weekend and shopped, an estimated $29 billion in sales going into cyber monday. a record amount spent online on black friday, a third done on mobile phones. there were new online sales records for small business saturday as well. lauren: a bullish trend expected to continue today, cyber monday. sales expected to increase by nearly 19% from last year to $9.5 billion. sales at brick and mortar stores fell more than 6% from a year ago as more people went online in the shortened holiday shopping season. uncertainty continues over whether the u.s. and china can reach a phase one trade deal. a chinese newspaper says the agreements must include the rollback of existing u.s. tariffs on chinese products. a separate report says

legislation signed by president trump backing the pro democracy protesters in hong kong stalled progress on a deal. cheryl: anti-government protests continue in hong kong and some of them again turning violent. thousands of demonstrators faced off against police yesterday who fired tear gas a after they were attacked with bricks and smoke bombs. more marchmarches were held elsn the city. more than a quarter of multinational firms have not developed p contingency plans if the trade war takes a turn for the worst. in a few hours president trump will leave for london to participate in a two-day summit celebrating the 70th anniversary of the nato alliance. he's expected to meet with several allies including france's president and germany's chancellor. the president is not expected to meet with british prime minister boris johnson ahead of that country's elections.

president trump is expected to continue to its campaign to force fellow members of nato to increase their defense spending and to warn allies to resist growing chinese influence. lauren: president trump will not participate in the house judiciary's committee's first impeachment hearing this week. this comes as the intel panel prepares to vote on the impeachment report. that's tomorrow. cheryl: griff jenkins is in washington to preview the packed week on the hill. griff, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, lauren and cheryl. it's going to be a busy week as the impeachment process moves from the house intelligence committee to the judiciary committee where articles of impeachment would be written. here's what the next three days look like. today, committee members are expected to review a craf draftf the impeachment report. tomorrow they're expected to vote on it and send activity the judiciary committee where they will hold the first public hearings. don't expect the president's team to appear. white house's counsel denounced

the hearings, writing we cannot be expected to participate in a hearing while the witnesses are yet to be named and while it remains unclear whether the judiciary committee will afford the president a fair process through add decision nail hearings. but -- through additional hearings. the effort failed to garner support from republicans. >> it's clear there is none of the bipartisan support that speaker pelosi said for months wag essential to impeachment. >> jo our job is to follow the facts, you apply the law, be guided by the u.s. constitution and present the truth to the american people no matter where it leads because no one is above the law. >> reporter: republicans on the judiciary committee are calling for intel committee chairman adam schiff to appear before them. >> it's easy to hide behind a report. it's easy to hide behind closed door hearings. it's another thing to answer questions about what is happening and what he knew about the whistleblower report. >> reporter: it's unclear if schiff would appear.

and mexican security forces. the violence unfolded in a town an hour away from the texas border. officials say members of the northeast cartel opened fire saturday on government offices. it was just last week that president trump announced plans to declare mexico's cartel groups foreign tear electricity organizations -- terrorist organizations. saudi arabia wants and extension of oil production cuts through next june. persian gulf officials say if the request is granted it would prop up saudi aramco's ipo, the share price for the ipo. there is growing unrest in the middle east. aramco is set to announce pricing of its shares on thursday ahead of the $25 billion stock market debut. costco not re-vealin -- reveling on the influx of online shopping. the website went down for 16 hours on thanksgiving thursday. according to data analyzed by

the overnight hours, temperatures are going to drop and we will see the potential for significant snow, especially north and west of the city. so there's our transitioning low. this is 4:00 a.m. tuesday, eventually moving offshore on tuesday afternoon. but we're still going to see quite a bit of snow, especially north and west of new york and in towards new england. additional snow totals, some of these computer models differ, especially when you look at boston, anywhere from 9 to 3 inches, new york city we think 2 inches for you, 2, 3 inches and upstate new york we'll see the big jackpot snow toes tails. ladies -- totals. ladies, be prepared, there will be delays and cancellations. lauren: almost 500 flights have been canceled today so far, it's only 5:00 in the morning. 5,000 flights have been delayed. this is during american airline's busiest weekend of the

year. cheryl: cyber monday on track to break records. they're predicting $9.4 billion in sales, the most ever for a single day of online shopping, on the heels of a record black friday. there was also a staggering 6.2% drop from tradition l naial brid mortar sales. is black friday as we know it maybe going away? let's bring in chief research officer of h squared research. what's your biggest take-away from the fact there is more online shopping, less brick and mortar shopping. >> you'll see most of the shopping was taking place on laptops and smartphones. about $24 billion was spent just on your smartphone alone. which makes sense. people don't necessarily want to get off their sofas, get into their car and go shopping. you don't necessarily have to. you can sit where you are and shop from the dining table, shop

from your sew sofa or your card maybe going to the grocery store. cheryl: you say millennials and boomers, we're seeing a divergence between the two groups. >> we have this concept of okay, boomer, permeating social media. it really makes sense. not only just millennials, but gen-zs said they want more personalized shopping experience. and about 70% of gen-zs and 67% of millennials are looking on social media to find their products. cheryl: interesting. like instagram and facebook. >> exactly. social media is perpetuating the sales online. cheryl: that's interesting. let's talk about the busiest shopping day that's are coming, eight of the 10 bit yeast 10 but shopping days are -- busiest shopping days are still to come. do you think overall we'll see more spending? it looks like the economy is

strong so far. >> that's interesting. the sales have been starting since november 1st. if you think about it, it started in july when you had amazon's prime day and christmas in july. so the consumer has really had a real ramp-up to the spending time. with that said, there are so many promotions and retailers are hitting consumers so hard. if you look at the retailers, they have spent so much capital expenditure in beefing up the ability to shop online. so if you think about how much walmart has spent with acyo acquisitions and jet, just to make sure the customer will stay on their site and shop and take market share away from amazon, so many combined with that and these other tent pole events like the saturday -- super saturday, the saturday before christmas, that's coming up, it's a shorter shopping time so retailers are pushing that. cheryl: walmart and target have changed their online game in a good way. target said they don't want to lay off people but they're

rejiggering what the employees do, focused on stocking shelves overnight and during the day fulfilling online orders. that's interesting to me, that this is changing the job picture as well. >> yes, not only is the job picture changing, but they're also getting the consumer to help with that aspect of it. what i mean by that is that if you go online, it's not just free shipping on target but they will give you another discount if you buy online and then pick up in the stores. sthat's a job generation right there. target is fueling or sort of the back end behind toys r us. so you saw the toys r us launch in new jersey, in texas. target is the one that is fulfilling the online orders for that. so that is another aspect of target that's really kind of getting that consumer to come in, shop online and then pick up in their stores. cheryl: small business saturday, $3.6 billion in online. i'm wondering if that goes back to the social media part of this. >> completely. a lot of the small businesses

lauren: the s&p 500 up 25% this year, could be the best year in six years and history says the good times can continue in 2020. joining us now is fox business contributor, jonas. the good times continue in 2020 is because an incumbent, donald trump is running for re-election and history shows that's usually the case, you he se set yourselp for a good year the following year. >> i don't know if there's enough history to make predictions. that said, the market is up because it doesn't think the tax cuts are going away. if the market thought the

corporate tax rates were going back to where they were, the market would be going down. it looked like it was last year but right now it's strong. it means in all likelihood the market sees no reason for the president not to get reelected. lauren: you're putting this on tax cuts over interest rates. >> i don't think the stock market's history is a predicter. lauren: you don't buy it. but the history shows the dow gains on average 10% when an incumbent faces re-election versus down 1.6% in an election year where there's an open field. so there, just giving our viewers the numbers. looking at 2020, i've seen all sorts of year-end targets for the s&p 500. at the high end, 3425, at the low end, a decline to 3,000. so says morgan stanley. where do you see the s&p 500 at the end of 2020. >> i think it will be lower than right now. i think we went up way too much off the crash late last year. we need to earn it with better earnings or it will slip back

again. lauren: the trade war is pinching that. bloomberg looked at personal income and found that personal income has grown in several of the key batter ground states -- battleground states, pennsylvania for instance. does that help the president? >> yeah, i think the trade war also helped the stock market because the trade war led to rates going lower which boosted stocks. the negative effects of the trade war are not as strong as the positive effects of low rates and i think even the fed was concerned that rates were getting too high, given the drag in the trade war. the local economies that are doing well, they need a strong economy and they have one because it also disguises the slightly negative effects of the trade war. a lot of the communities in those states are the areas that have to deal with export problems to china but the market's so hot, there's an interesting article in the wall street journal about this a couple daysing with where there's lots of jobs to be had so people aren't that concerned, even though their businesses are

taking a hit because of the policies of the president they voted for, they'll vote for him again. it would probably not be like that if we had 6% unemployment, serious layoffs in farming, then it would be what have we got ourselves into here. so i think it's good for the president. lauren: we look at thanksgiving weekend and spending, about $30 billion. so the consumer, because of the personal income gains, the low interest rates, the consumer is strong. >> yeah, the consumer is more optimistic than businesses. businesses got nervous about the trade war and cut back a little. consumers don't see the trade war as something that is worth cutting back on spending when there's a great sale to be had. i don't think consumers get nervous unless they see the stock market tank. they cut back a little last year because they have a little thing where like if the market's down a lot, something's bad. that happened in 2000, 2007. if you saw a 50% decline in stocks, people are going to panic, lead to high unemployment. lauren: did you see the

irishman and will it help netflix's stock because jp morgan said it will. >> i'm pretty sure jp morgan won't say a movie financed by debt is a bad idea. this company sold this year to finance a $150 million deal. i don't see the mentality here except for one thing. the typical plan with these high debt -- there's a lot -- they do a series. this is a one time thing. netflix does not have a big -- this thing is boomer central, old people playing young people, it's not very believable. it looks like a an instagram filter on rober rob deniro. cheryl: the writers guild of america is preparing to strike as the current contract is set

so far, there have been 47 vaping related deaths and 2,290 vaping related illnesses reported in the u.s. alone. many of the cases involve teenagers and our next guest says she is, well, one of them. bailey says she suffers from migraines and breathing problems since she used juul. she said when she started using juul, she didn't know the mango flavor she was puffing on had nicotine and the packaging had no warning that it did. bailey and her attorney jeffrey haberman join us now. guys, good morning. >> good morning. cheryl: thank you for coming on to tell us your story. what got you hooked on e-cigarettes? >> well, like any kid, we're easily impressionable. if everyone's doing so, we're going to go ahead and do it. it was just advertised everywhere around me, everyone had one, so it was kind of decembedestined.

cheryl: when did the migraines start? >> about a year ago now, maybe a little less, a little more. cheryl: do you still vape or did you let it go? >> yes, i do, unfortunately. cheryl: you're still vaping? >> yes. cheryl: obviously juul has been responding, the company, to all of these claims especially the big new york times investigation where they spoke with bailey. you say that they need to be held accountable for what they've done to teenagers. tell us what you're planning and how bailey play intuse this. >> sure. that's exactly right. juul is and phillip morris and altria are responsible for the epidemic of youth nicotine addiction with the sale of e-cigarettes that's popularized by juul. the government thinks that nicotine addiction among youth is an epidemic. it's incredibly dangerous for our country's young people to be addicted to a nicotine delivery

lauren: democratic presidential can p date joe biden kicked off -- candidate joe biden kicked off a tour over the weekend, he will go to 18 counties across the state of iowa as he tries to appeal to voters amid slumping polls that threaten to derail his national polling tour. this comes as joe biden went viral this weekend when he was caught anybod nibbling on his ws finger on-stage during a campaign stop. thank you for joining us. rashad, you first, nibbling on his wife's finger o on-stage, another awkward moment for biden? >> yeah, but it does not calculate to the awkward moments trump had when he ran for president or while he's been president. this is not material to his candidacy. is it a weird joe biden moment? yep. does it matter on the campaign

trail? not really. and his polling numbers have not been affected. it has nothing to do with his policy. i think that's what the american people actually care for. what does joe biden stand for and is he willing to articulate their agenda while being president of the united states. lauren: a no m no malarkey tou? does that resonate with young voters that he needs? >> it might do great with the older set of the electorate. what joe biden has to do is stop the hemorrhaging of polling in places like iowa and a ne new hampshire where he's in fourth or fifth place in the polls. the problem with all of these, whether you want to call them gaffes or the finger sucking and sniffing, talking about little kids touching his leg hair in pools, it's not about the substance of his argument but what it does show is that he's out of touch with where a modern america is and it lessens his

appeal and undermines his core message. he has real problems. he's not winning iowa. what he has to do is come in the top two or three so the narrative coming out of iowa is not that he's a major loser. hillary.lauren: he is winning nationally. if we pull this up, he's at 27%, bernie sanders at 18%, elizabeth warren at 15. mayor pete buttigieg at 11%. joe biden seems to not be concerned with mayor pete, but should he be? >> he doesn't need to win iowa as your guest says. iowa has 49 delegates, 41 are pledged which means you have to earn them. there's a 15% threshold in how the caucus is done. he will meet that 15% threshold which means he leaves out of iowa with actual delegates. he doesn't have to win iowa. he just has to do well. places like georgia, where you have 125 delegates, and other places, southern states where he

will absolutely top within number one or number two, those are places where he's going to rack up on the delegate count. lauren: should he worry about mayor pete? >> not nationally, according to the polling data. iowa is going for mayor pete because he spent $870,000 on a campaign buy and then that poll was taken two days after the campaign buy. so you're seeing the effect of that particular ad purchase which rightfully so, he did a good job, making sure he spent a lot of money in iowa. biden hasn't spent that kind of money in iowa. he's not trying to win iowa. he's trying to finish strong. >> biden doesn't have that kind of money to spend in iowa. as of last quarter, biden was headed towards the bankruptcy column. he has to be careful where he spends money. the issue right now is it's not that biden isn't going to win electors out of eye ya way.

lauren: 527 flights have been canceled already this morning and thousands have been delayed as a winter storm slow moving now targets the northeast. cheryl: janice dean joins us again this morning. the storm seems to be living up to expectations. janice: absolutely. and new york city could see quite a formidable amount of snow overnight tonight. some of the computer models are upping the snowfall totals. we'll have to continue to watch this as it develops off the coast. and you can already see in some cases upstate new york has received over a foot of snow. same thing for new england and the storm is going to get stronger as it moves into the atlantic. you see the last 24 hours, we're getting light rain in new york city. we could see a transitioning rain to a freezing rain and we've got snow still falling over parts of upstate new york, in towards new england. light rain being posted in boston, but we could see that transition and they could get several inches of snow in the next 12 to 18 hours.

you see the wind gusts along the coast, 30 to 40 miles per hour. that's going to cause big travel delays, not only the snow and rain but the fact we've got a transitioning storm that's going to bring gusty winds. forecast temperature and radar as we go through the overnight, again, parts of long island, new york, and coastal areas could still see some pretty good snow totals. but the real blockbuster event is going to be the interior sections of the northeast and new england. weather travel delays, definitely for millions across the northeast. this could be crippling for travel across the northeast, especially for the afternoon and evening rush hour and then across the coast we have a you new storm that's developing, bringing heavy rain along coastal areas of california and interior sections could see quite a bit of snow. the central u.s. looks good. sos there'so there's some silveg for you. lauren: this is frustrating. a lot of people are headed home after the thanksgiving weekend.
