right now taxpayers union senior fellow and ford chat strategies president mattie. so good to see her. so i don't know if i call myself a gold bug, but i get very, very excited about precious metals. am i wrong your my exuberance? >> you are not wrong in gold is a good security hedge and well balanced portfolio but it cannot save you from financial calamity. we were talking about that were talking about a democrat getting in the white house next year. because all your talking about are these democrats talking up wealth taxes so they gobble up any assets people of say. i have a lot of criticism about the wealth taxes one of the biggest problems is not unhurt the wealthy's. think of an elite investor who can participant a lot and gold and other assets that don't generate. on a good for them. that means they are not buying stocks. that's a flight from equities. what does that mean then? the stock market is down. how are the imagining them average americans going to get in their 401ks and their retirement. and that kind of nosedive is
9:46 pm
gonna ruin retirement for the average americans. kennedy: but you laid out a really good case because there are couple of things here because the elite will be fine. because they have teams of lawyers and accountants who help them legal tax avoidance. and they are also able to shift from one markets and one product to the next much more nimbly than the average investor. and so the wealth taxes than bernie sanders and elizabeth warren are very greedily talking about will hurt the middle class. >> absolutely. and the biggest problem with the wealth taxes a dozen hippies and investors the way it says it well. the problem was something like goals it's highly illiquid. so that all of the wealth, if you had all the investors suddenly go all to go. they would not be able to access that capital. it would not be used to fund businesses to fund wages for workers for capital investments. so all the economic turn we have because the economic conditions are good now.

it would stop and depress the economy further which have a bigger effect on the lower and middle income scaled rather than the higher income earners because they are the ones much more sensitive to fluctuations in the economy. kennedy: i still love gold because you can hold it. >> and shiny but it's not bad don't put all your assets in it. kennedy: i don't think you want to put all your anything and everything. but what about the country getting back on the gold standard? >> that is something we are ages and ages away from. look what's happening to the federal reserve right now. the only thing in a base talked about the stock markets what's happening with the u.s. trade in china and that could offer some insurgency. but don't they're getting back to gold standard anytime soon. kennedy: that's a shame and i blame nixon. number one and a number to the fed should at least in the very least be audited. once again they are pumping billions and billions and billions of dollars into these markets and into the ether.
9:48 pm
and it's not having the desired effect is it? >> all of our public institutions should be open to more transparency. the pentagon kanga thrown it either. we need a lot more transparency in public finance. kennedy: hear! hear! >> and keeps the public a little more accountable with washington. kennedy: i'm a go home and roll around in a bunch of coins. it's so good to see you think serving back. tropical storm is next.
