intelligence. you would not want to put certain assets in harms way. and you would want to be able to get additional information as time goes forward. but where you can protect those sources and methods, it is important to tell the united states citizens as much as possible as is much as they can. kennedy: i think we can afford to be transparent we are mature country. we can handle some facts without hiding behind the cloak of sources and methods, because often times that is so opaque and is used as more of a clutch than in actual necessary justification. but let's talk about where we go from here. we know that this news cycle and this attention span, it is faster and shorter than ever. and it is conceivable that we could move past this conflict with iran by next week. so then what? >> why think it would be fantastic if we were able to

people donate money to your campaign, you are beholden to them. you are just buying their support. is not antidemocratic? >> it goes both ways. to all the candidates are going to the process, going to the primary, they have been in it for a long time and along comes michael brumberg and he doesn't want to have any part in the debate are campaigning in places that are important on the ground where they have been working for months. and they are arguing he is buying the election. he is arguing they are buying votes by having people donate to them. so i don't think it really works out. i think it's to his detriment that is not debating democrats because he does when the primary he's going to have to debate donald trump and he will need practice. kennedy: he doesn't just buying a bunch of ads, that never tells the whole story. and you're not really challenged in the issues that face this country and they are very grave as we have seen. they deserved to go through that. >> i'm still not convinced that people's performances and debates really move the needle

and the whole stigma around cannabis is changing. and people are realizing just like booze or cigarettes, it's a part of life for adults. and illinois is one of the first to lead on this issue. kennedy: yes prohibition is already has so many awful unintended consequences paid chicago should know that just about any place. but even in california, they have a very robust cannabis growing industry. most of which is off the books and in the black market because it's a lot cheaper for people to buy weed from a non- dispensary because they have taxed the living crab out of it. that's a problem for everybody. >> that is a problem they're really shooting themselves in the foot. certainly in illinois. sound like they decriminalize the herb, the chronic because of individual rights reason spread they don't think people have rights. they want the money as you said. and 40% tax on cannabis products means that people stay in the black market.

kennedy: absolutely that is where it has been. it's not like cigarettes which started legal. and the marijuana has been proliferating in a black market. it is a natural place for it to stay. and that's were lawmakers, we should point out illinois the first state to pass cannabis recreational cannabis through their legislature and not to the ballot measure. >> is an imperfect solution but you have to give this often time edge is less up legislature some credit. the governor actually commuted a lot of those pots. kennedy: i appreciate that connection between justice reform in the end of cannabis in the state of illinois. a lot of these places have a lot to learn from other states success and failure. >> in five years i think it will be legalized nationally and for adults that's a positive thing in a free country. kennedy: will it should be for those of us who are allergic
