time. john desperately wanted to get in this white house and be the national security advisor. it didn't work out. he and the president had a difference of opinion. you say thank you for allowing me to serve and you leave. you don't write a book while the president is still there. and the bottom line is i don't care what he says, the president had a right to do what he did, the idea of abuse of pou -- abuf power is absurd. lou: have you ever seen a national security advisor do what he has done? >> no. the fact that you still have lieutenant colonel vindman in there. why he isn't in a secure outpost somewhere in the military.

lou: more than 200 americans are preparing to board a government chartered flight out of wuhan, china tomorrow to head to california. those passengers will largely be made up of u.s. diplomats, their families and a number of private citizens. they will be screened for the cry russ during a red for the virus during a refueling stop in alaska. 200 americans will be left to ride out the outbreak.

doctor, this disease is none of us had heard of it before. and suddenly it's front and center killing people in china. as far as we know, no one has died outside china. is that still true? >> that's still true. what we are seeing are mild cases exported outside of china which adds to the mystery of what's going on in china. lou: i am impressed by the way the chinese responded to this outbreak. it seems to me they have been forthright, transparent and doing as much as it seems to me could possibly do given their huge populations and population centers. your thoughts about how they are performing? >> they have come a long way

since 2003 and the sars outbreak. sequence of the virus was shared quickly. so all of that was great. where there is some concern is the blockade that happened in the outbreak zone. they are using a lot of force with armed guards at train stations. and we had 5 million people leave the area before the blockade started. we are hearing about shortages of doctors with hospital beds. lou: why isn't the world health organization in there helping with all of the per tease the who -- i know there is friction been u.s. medicine and the world health organization. but it seems to me it would be helpful to have that u.n. agency in there helping.

know there is general concern over the blockade. and maybe that blockade may lessen. we know this is spreading despite this blockade. there are multiple cities with human to human transmission. we are left right now in what has been the second full week that we entered. there seems to be fewer fatalities given the vast number of 3,000 at last count of patients infected. the mortality rate seems very, very low. and it seems like there is a little bit more hype to this on the outside while others are worrying about the chinese understating it, it seems that

through the commercial break, doctor. underestimating or overexaggerating what is happening in china -- >> any time there is a new outbreak of an infectious disease you will pick up the severe cases first and the people who have died. only over time can you understand the true breast of the in -- the true breadth of the infection. it's something that happens all the time in the fog of an epidemic. as we get a bigger picture we are seeing this is much more widespread and there are more mild cases. we don't know where it will fall in terms of fatality.

i think we are getting the numbers as the chinese are reporting them. but i think there needs to be more testing done in people with mild cases to see how widespread this is. clearly this was spreading before the detection in late december. there was a community spread going on and this market may not have been the focal point of the outbreak but what allowed it to be detected. it may have been mixed in with flu or respiratory infections in october or november. lou: it looks like the common cold, at least initially, doesn't it? >> exactly. you wouldn't be able to distinguish this from the common cold. you need to do sophisticated testing. it makes it very hard. lou: most us don't go to the

sophisticated testing at least in the first instance which is hard as well. a top prosecutor in the manhattan district attorney's office has resigned over allegations she withheld exculpatory evidence from defense attorneys. she was in charge of the construction fraud task force. slice accused of failing to tush over an audio recording that reportedly contradicted the testimony of her star witness in seven bribery trials. joining us, tom fitton. let's start with the defense of the president by his attorneys saturday and today. >> i give them a b plus. i would appreciate more fire and spice.
