for tickets. kristen fisher is in wildwood and has the latest for us. >> i have been to a least trump rallies recently. but the crowd and the location really stands out. this is the jersey shore in january. it's typically a ghost town this time of year. but inside the wildwood convention center, there are no seats, the capacity about 7,000 people. not nearly enough to hold the thousands of people camped out some since sunday at 2:00 p.m. they waited two days and two nights to get in here tonight. the other thing, jersey shore january, a lot of places are typically closed. hotels have reopened. many of them are sold out. bars and restaurants have reopened and offering drink

specials like the maga-ita. so there is a party vibe i haven't quite seen at some of the other rallies. the primary reason president trump is coming here tonight is to campaign for congressman chris van drew. he's democrat turned republican. he was a democrati democratic cn who opposed impeachment. and this is his district. president trump wanted to come here to help him win. i just spoke to someone with the trump campaign. the campaign views van drew as just one of many democrats, democrats around the country have become disillusions with what is happening in the country

with impeachment. lou: a lot of excitement. and the congressman apparently made the right choice switching to the republican party there. in wildwood, new jersey. new jersey is a blue state. the president doesn't care. he seems to want to make it red. today the centers for disease control warning americans to avoid all non-essential travel to china. it's aninit's d it's aning expaf last week's warning. most of the more than 5,500 confirmed cases of the virus are also in china. but the virus has been confirmed in 16 other countries, including five cases here in the united states.

the cdc is expanding its screening for the coronavirus from five ports of entry to 20 ports of entry throughout the country. health and human services secretary alex azar says the united states is take all precautions. >> we said in the united states the risk tony individual american -- the risk to any individual american is extremely low. the individual american, this should not be an impact on their day-to-day life. lou: joining us is dr. anthony fauci. a programming note before we turn to you. we'll be going live to wildwood, new jersey for the president's rally. we only await of course the president.

doctor, it's great to have you with us. i want to focus on the number of cases that expand to 5,500 in china. 131 deaths. your analysis of what that means for the chinese? >> it reflects this an evolving, expanding situation in china. and i would expect the numbers to continue to go up. the real question will be the dramatic effort the chinese are taking in china to contain that epidemic which isn't going to be successful. that's something that we have no guarantee. the expanding numbers are clearly reflective of an outbreak that's accelerating. lou: the number of cases in this country remain confirmed at

five. but now we learn there are more than 100 suspected cases in the united states. so my question to you is, do you have a profile of those 100 suspected cases, men, women, age, et cetera. and get your thoughts on that. >> i think you used the word suspected. it might be a little bit misleading. those are the contacts of the individuals who have been documented to be infected. you used the word suspected. but it may be not any of them have had infection. they may be just contact. in some respects that's good because the cdc is casting a wide net to investigate those who come into contact with those

we know are definitely infected. lou: i appreciate you straightening that out. we also have more good news in the sense none of the deaths from the coronavirus have occurred outside of china. >> i don't think we can make much of that, lou. the fatality rate in china is about 3% to 4%. you are talking about 3,000 cases. so the numbers alone in people outside of the china who are infected, i would not put anything in the fact that the deaths are even lower. so i don't want to get feeling too good about that. but the denominator is still

very small. lou: as we look at what is happening in china, we learned president xi met with the delegation, with the world health organization, has agreed to bring in some you be specified number of teams into china from the world health organization, at the same time declining u.s. help through the cdc. your those about that. >> we are trying to get some of our cdc embedded with the w.h.o. i hope the chinese authorities agree to that. it's a good step to bring the w.h.o. in. i hope that will be followed by our team inside helping. lou: is there anything else all of us should be thinking about

adam schiff inside the house didn't even subpoena bolton. and it doesn't change the outcome. you have the transcripts of the call. ukraine got the money. ukraine did nothing to get the money. the idea of what they will do to keep moving forward on this to get more witnesses, that's not their role. chairman nadler said on impeachment we have proven it beyond a shadow of a doubt. the senate is supposed to judge the case, note try to make it something different by bringing witnesses in. lou: alan dershowitz giving a brilliant dissertation on the law and the constitutionality. saying straightforwardly. that no matter john bolton has
