first meeting of the decade a. lauren: a lot going on. cautiously higher, i would say. oil is up as well, $53.86 a barrel. tracee: let's take a look at asia right now. you can see the nikkei pointing higher, hang seng steep losses there, down almost 3%, as we're getting back into the swing of things after the lunar new year holiday. the kospi pointing higher, the shanghai is closed. lauren: green on the screen in europe, cautiously higher this morning as we hear from more airlines, as they stop flying to china. the ftse i is up 1%. breaking overnight, the state department flying hundreds of stranded americans out of the coronavirus danger zone in china, passengers will a arrive at a military base in california early this morning. tracee: airports across the u.s. now setting up quarantine stations. jackie abanez has more as the

virus spreads around the world. >> reporter: china reporting more than 6,000 coronavirus cases and 132 deaths. the state department is flying more than 200 americans away from the center of the outbreak. a flight from wuhan, china refueling in alaska overnight. it will land at an air base in southern california where the passengers will be quarantined for at least three days. there are currently five confirmed coronavirus cases in four states here in the u.s. 18 american airports and two border cros crossings are settip quarantine station as flights are canceled to and from china. the cdc is urging people not to travel to china right now. >> the cdc in conjunction with the state department has updated our travel guidance and now recommends that travelers avoid unnecessary travel to china. >> reporter: more than 6,000 people have been sickened worldwide. the united arab emirates confirming its first case in the

mideast overnight. at the center of the outbreak in china, 16 cities are under quarantine and a brand-new hospital built in just four days will strictly treat coronavirus patients. although many americans have been evacuated from china, one wisconsin man says his family is stuck. >> this is not the ideal situation. i'm trying to think positively. this disease is frightening. >> reporter: other americans are choosing to stay in wuhan instead of flying to the u.s. back to you guys. tracee: thank you very much, jackie. president trump firing up the crowd at a massive keep america great rally in new jeer. lauren: it got wild. what do the voters think? petpete buttigieg is live -- pee hegseth is at the convention center. >> reporter: they could only fit a fraction of the people that

waited out here, some for days, many for hours and hours yesterday, just to get inside. 175,000 rsvps here in you south jersey, only 7,500 allowed in the convention center and it was a scene. when you think of new jersey, you don't think of it necessarily as a red state but down south here in jeff van drew's district, he just became a republican, remember, a lot of conservatives, a lot of supporters for this president. we went inside the convention and asked them, with impeachment going on, with the democrats in their process, why are you so supportive of his president, what is he facing. here's what the voters had to say inside the rally. >> when you think trump country, you may not think new jersey. we're here in wildwood, new jersey, crowds waiting to get in to see the president of the united states, donald trump. why are you here to see him today? >> because he's doing a great

the only person these folks say they would wait in line in bitter cold to come see. the other sound we got was he speaks like me, he understands me, he has the values i have and he loves this country and i've never seen a politician who says what they're going to do and then actually goes and does it. the connection here, as close as you can get to a presidental candidate, is guess you could say -- i guess you could say he's still a candidate going into 2020, here in wildwood, bringing you the voice of the people. lauren: did it surprise you there was so much trump support in blue new jersey. >> reporter: you know, a little bit. if you spend time in ne new -- w jersey, there's certain pockets. they were ready for it. lauren: he pete, thank you very much, bringing the wild to wildwood. have a good one. president trump making waves, rallying on the jersey shore. the president slammedded democrats during that rally for

numbers. we will see. >> if you go down the road of witnesses, it's not going to be one, it's going to be many. >> reporter: four gop senators will need to cross over for bolton to testify. politico reporting this morning there are three democrat senators still considering whether or not to vote to acquit the president. that would give him bipartisan support. tracee: thank you very much. lauren: president trump is set to celebrate another win on trade. >> replace the nafta nightmare, one of the worst trade deals ever in history, a massive win for new jersey workers, new jersey farmers, and everybody. lauren: tracee: the president expected to sign the usmca at the white house later today after sailing through the senate last week, according to the administration.

democrats will not be invited to attend. the agreement is projected to ad $68 billion to the u.s. economy and create 175,000 new jobs. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu is praising president trump's historic middle east plan. the plan establishes a two state solution and gives israel control over long contested west bank settlements. palestinians took to the streets to protest the proposal before it was even announced. president trump believes with an end p pent state and the -- independent state and the potential for $50 billion in u.s. aid, palestinians will eventually come around. lauren: here are other headlines making news this morning. at least 50 u.s. service members have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries following iran's missile attack earlier this month he despite initial claims there were no injuries related to that incident. traumatic brain injuries have become a major concern for the military recently. the pentagon reports that 31 of

the 50 service members diagnosed have returned to service. secretary of state mike bomb maymay-- pompeo on the way to te u.k., amid the u.k. decision to allow huawei to allow a limited part in building out the 5g network. the president has said previously he would sus tend intelligence sharing with any country that allows huawei into the 5g network. shaquille o'neal reacting to the death of his former teammate, kobe bryant. >> i haven't felt pain like this in a while. i lost two grandmother's, lost a sarge, lost my sister and now i lost a little brother. lauren: as the investigation into the crash continues, it's being reported that the helicopter carrying kobe, his daughter and seven others, was not equipped with a terrain awareness warning system which could have provided critical data to the pilot before that crash. the ntsb said it will issue a

preliminary report in 10 days. and tim horton's moving on from meatless meat. they are parting ways with beyond meat, saying the product was not embraced by customers. they did not, however, rule out bringing meatless meat back at at a later time. so after all that, tray you sigh, i guess -- tracee, i guess it wasn't so popular at tim horton's. all eyes are on boeing this morning, one of the most heavily weighted dow stocks to report, the first results under the you new ceo. how bad will the damage be from the grounded 737 max. tracee: remember this, when mayor bill de blasio dropped the groundhog. this is painful to watch. well, if peta has its way, groundhogs will only have to fear their shadow. details coming up on "fbn: a.m.." ♪ at least we'll both be numb. ♪ after all we said the best of me, the worst is yet to come. we in our new home.

most, though, is the wearable, home and accessories category, first quarter that it reported over $10 billion in revenue, that includes the apple watch and air pods which keep selling out. i also think it's important, services grew another 17% quarter over quarter to almost $13 billion. so for all the people dogging apple for being nothing but an iphone company, here we have two other categories that are showing it's much more than just iphones. lauren: don't wearables and services derive from being linked to the iphone, so how do they grow their base, if you will? >> absolutely. i think it's all about the ecosystem. i think apple's the only company you can talk about that has this advantage. they have 1.5 billion devices. the iphones lead the way. and now you start adding these accessoriesnd then you add on the services to those accessories and you have a wonderful business that still has a lot of room to grow. tens of billions of dollars in potential growth for sales and profit from services still. lauren: growing might be a problem, mike lee, at boeing. they report today. what do investors need to know,

what do they need to hear from the new ceo. >> there's a lot of problems at boeing. the focus is on the 737 max. and there is a new ceo because the former ceo said it would be back online by the end of last year. so as that's what all the attention is going to be focused around is when it comes back online. i think there's real problems, though, because some of their suppliers, notably spirit aero systems, have laid out workers in plants that supply the 737 max. i don't know when it's coming back online. to compound those problems, their 787 dream liner, they're reducing the number of production from 14 to 12 a month. when you sell those things for 200 or 250 million a pop, that's like five or six billion dollars in revenue less a year. that's meaningful to any can anywhere. lauren: there's concerns that boeing because of its size will actually ding overall u.s. gdp. another concern, lou, and mike,

for investors is coronavirus. and tesla is reporting today, for instance, apple certainly has major factories in china as well. how concerned are you, lou, about the coronavirus? >> look, i think it's a near term concern, largely in the semiconductor space. i treat it as a buying opportunity. semiconductor chips are going to be in everything we do from now until the end of time. if you get a pullback, the sox index has had a great runup over the last three, four years. i really view it as a short-term buying opportunity. lauren: boeing yo does report s latest earnings before the opening today. we'll take a look at the results as soon as they come in. the new ceo will join maria bartiromo this morning, 8:30 a.m. eastern time. tracee: president trump calling on the federal reserve to lower interest rates. trump tweeting yesterday, quote, the fed should get smart and lower the rate to make our interest competitive with other countries, which pay much lower,

with the heritage foundation's asian study center. good morning, dean. >> good morning. tracee: i want to ask you, we just heard 132 confirmed deaths, nearly 6,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. earlier this week a nurse in china said that there was no -- that china was not giving us the full picture here. what do you think, is china giving us the full picture here, can we trust the information coming out of the country. you think back to sars in 2003 when china concealed a lot of the information and was criticized for it. >> i think the chinese did learn an important lesson from sars, both domestically as well as internationally. they lost a lot of credibility and they also helped create an internal lot of concern. now we have this new virus and there are a lot of very scary stories. i think the chinese government does want to try and limit

internal panic. but at the same time, this is also an internal security issue. i suspect that within the chinese system, because information is always an aspect of power, it's a good question whether we're getting all of the information or not or even whether chinese citizens are. tracee.tracee: china doesn't wo cause panic for people that live there. airlines are starting to stop flights, businesses are starting to shut down. we're seeing a number -- obviously the quarantine, is it too little too late? is china doing enough right now? >> the reports have come out that the mayor of wuhan has aa parentally gone on-- apparent has gone onto chinese television, saying i had more information but the government kept me from sharing it, is almost certainly indicative that measures are coming a step behind. the other thing to think about is the chinese have extended the chinese new year, it's like saying we're going to change christmas. so the government china can do

that. but in order to keep people at home, rather than going back to work. tracee: how worried right now do you think president xi is? you've got the coronavirus, a number of things on his plate, trade still a big issue. what do you think? >> i think xi-jinping is looking at this and saying basically you've got to be kidding me. he's got an economic slowdown. he's got the ongoing problems in hong kong. he's got pork problems because there's separate disease going on with chinese pigs. this is really almost a perfect storm of problems, almost all of which are internal and domestic. he can't even blame foreigners or the outside for them. tracee: thank you very much for joining us this morning. >> thank you for having me. lauren: as the super bowl approaches, the quarterbacks in the biggest game of the year are taking center stage. who are the people that put them in those positions to succeed? tracee: ray bogen joins us live with that story. good morning, ray.

would give to having the discipline to get work done? >> yeah, good question. you do need to be disciplined. i would recommend setting up a dedicated office space where there are not many distractions, maybe shut your phone off, definitely stay away from social media if you can and make sure that you've got the necessary tools in order to converse with your coworkers. lauren: i'm glad you say that, to converse with your coworkers. i would imagine you would feel awfully lonely and disconnected when you're setting up at your kitchen table for eight hours a day and not commuting or going to an office to interact with real people. >> yeah, absolutely. when i worked for a company remotely, we had video conferencing, which helps, it's a good way -- it's a good tool in order to stay in touch and not feel so isolated. lauren: as you link people to jobs, what are the companies saying to you about the ability

to offer workers this perk? >> well, it's mutually beneficial. whereas once it was seen as a perk for the employee, i think employers are now embracing it. they realize they can -- there's a lot of cost savings, overhead that, can reduce the amount of office space they have. it's something that mutually beneficial. lauren: in a tight job market when people want higher salaries, does cutting down on costs enable the company to pay you less because they know you're not paying to dress up, you're not paying to commute to work, it's cheaper for you too? >> it is cheaper for the employee but this is something that can be negotiated. because again, the one nice thing is it opens up the talent pool for employers and employees. this is something that they can negotiate. remote work is not black and white. it can be part-time remote work. it's not necessarily 100% telecommuting. lauren: thank you for joining us. tracee: can we work from home,

this is a weak system but it is going to cause problems on the roads this morning. the future radar shows a bigger system kind of developing across the gulf coast, that's going to bring rain into the forecast for south florida as some folks are getting ready for the big game in miami, for the super bowl. but the actual day of the super bowl looks spectacular. so there's your forecast. we're going to have to watch this area of low pressure. the computer models are showing it offshore, not affecting us too much. it will be mainly a rain event. it is too warm for snow. the northwest is very active with several systems coming in from the pacific with more coastal rain and mountain snow. there's the forecast today. pretty average for temperatures across the u.s. again, we're going to deal with that system in the gulf that's going to bring some rain and some wet conditions to miami for the super bowl but as i mentioned, sunday looks good. clears out completely. tell cheryl she might have to bring rain gear.
