[♪] lou: good evening, everybody. president trump's week of winning rolls on. the president began this week setting a record for an incumbent president in the iowa caucus. tuesday the president addressed the state of the union, focusing on his historic administration achievements, and the blue collar boom. wednesday the president acquitted in the u.s. senate of the charges brought by the radical dimms and their impeachment farce ending a year of unsuccessful efforts about it

radical dimms trying to overthrow his presidency after the special counsel investigation revealed nothing but the corruption of the investigators themselves, whether in the fbi, the justice department, the intelligence agencies of this country or others. yesterday president trump celebrating his vindication and exoneration, his acquittal. which is yes forever, thanking those who defended him against the attacks from the left and the deep state. and today more great news for the country. a blow-out jobs report. more people working than at any time under this president. job growth surpassing all predictions. president trump: this morning the brand-new jobs numbers came

in. we smashed expectations and created 225,000 new jobs last month. 225,000. they were thinking maybe 100, maybe 105. what do you think it's going to be? it's going to be 110. 225,000, for last month. that's only last month. liz: nobel winning paul krugman acknowledging today that the economy is indeed strong. krugman famously predicted a trump victory in 2016 would result in a disaster for the economy and the markets, acknowledging the reality before him, this is a booming economy, an historic, soaring market.

president trump also winning another major league battle. the d.c. court of appeals unanimously ruled democrats can't sue the president over the emoluments claims they concocted. president trump: we just won the big emoluments case. i think it was a unanimous decision. it was brought by nancy pelosi and her group. it was a total win. it was brought by 230 democrats on emoluments. it was another phoney case. and we won it 3-0. we won it unanimously. lou: despite the efforts of the radical dimms president trump's winning streak making this nation stronger by the day. president trump: you know what's going to piewnify the country?

look at our crowds and look at our support. what unifies it is the great success. our country days more successful than it has ever been, and that's unifying the country. lou: the president talking with president xi jinping about the south break of the coronavirus in china. president trump: china is working very hard. late last night i had a very good talk with president xi, we talked mostly about the coronavirus. they are working hard and i think they are doing a very professional job. they are in touch with the world organization and the cdc also. world health is working with them. cdc is working with them. lou: the president's statement comes as two more evacuation flights from wuhan, chinalanded

back in this country. 719 people have died of the virus, nearly all of them in china. 34,000 people of have been infected. but the husband and wife who were admitted to the hospital are home today and in good conditions. we are following people of the americans who has been kwan teened with the virus and whose health has been threatened by the coronavirus. and so far, and pray god it continues, all of those infected, good results as the two-week isolation and quarantine has ended. my next guest is a member of the president's coronavirus task

force. also the director of the national institute of allergy and infectious diseases. dr. anthony fauci. this is goods news. but it looks like we are having very good foretune with the cure rates so far. >> it's been a good story for what has happened in the united states. as we discussed the other night on the show, we have 12 people in the united states who are infected. 10 of them were people who visited from wuhan which is the epicenter of the outbreak in china, and two of the spouses of those individuals. and the public health approach as we said is to identify them, to isolate them, and to contact tracing. and to hopefully be able to take

care of them and in fact when they are well, to let them eventually go back into society. that's the ultimate plan. we have been quite successful? prevernlting the per is -- preventing the persistent transmission of one person to another. that's the driving component of the south break which we are seeing going on at a rapid pace in china. if we can keep a lid on things, and if we isolate them and do contact tracing, we'll be able to keep the lid on any outbreak in this country. lou: we are talking about 12 cases in this country. china is talking about 30,000 cases that we know of. the scale of the problem, while public health is doing a

marvelous job here. it appears from this distance to me to be daunting. your thoughts about how the chinese are doing and how great the threat. is it rising or is it status quo? who the chinese are in a very difficult situation. they have very persistent transmission from one person to another. that is exploding in an almost exponential fashion. every day there are a couple thousand additional cases as we just follow them. it isn't showing any indication that it's turning around. but they are doing some rather unprecedented dramatic things in cutting off and locking down large portions of the cities, for example, the city of wuhan which has 11 million people. they cut off traffic. lou: they isolated them. >> that is unprecedented.

whether that will be successful in preventing the spread to other parts of china as well as outside of chain a remains to be -- outside of china remains to be seen. they are working very hard to contain it. but it is a serious problem. lou: we are not seeing a lot of information about how europe's public health authorities are responding. they have got cases there as well. globally, it seems right now at least it's manageable or as you have said, americans remain as low risk. apparently so do the europeans and other continents. but in china there is obvious lid a consider stable -- obviously a considerable spread of the disease.

what do you make of that? >> the situation in china has gotten to the point that there are so many people infected and making he con daris -- making sy infections. when those cases travel from china to the united states or to other countries in europe, they will they were alert to the possibility that someone coming from wuhan or huh buy province i province to their country. they can contain them. lou: thanks to you and all of our medical and public health

folks in china. is there anything more we can do to the chinese. the rest of the industrial world do for the chinese to help them break, stop, this crisis? >> it's a good question, and we are. we are sending over aid with the material that they need. that's a big step towards helping them. we've offered to have some of our experts from the cdc and nih to be part of the p.h.o. umbrella -- the w.h.o. umbrella team to help them. lou: the chinese government said no to that since january 6, we understand. >> i'm not so sure they said no to it. lou: you are the scientist and i

am the guy who has to deal with the language. when they say no, it's empirical. they have not per mid our teams in. zooms. >> we are trying to be part of a w.h.o. team. shops be allowed to enter and help them when we are part of a w.h.o. team. lou: the problem is we haven't got the p.h.o. in as well. i think everyone has to understand we have been rebuffed in that. is that an incorrect statement i made? >> from the standpoint that we haven't gone the our people in there, whatever the reason for that. you are the one who knows that. i am just the medical person. but we have not gone the our people in there despite the fact we want to get in there and help them. lou: it looks like a no at this
