kat: the coronavirus picking up speed in china with the death toll rising by 105 and new cases and other country causing concern about containment. ninety-nine more cases are now confirmed aboard the diamond princess cruise ship docked in japan. that brings the total number infected to 454 out of over 2000 passengers and crew. we are told about 40 americans are infected pretty containment failing in the virus spreading, some health officials suggest corona could one day be as commonplace as a seasonal flu. could that really happen? here with me tonight fox news medical correspondent and ny professor of medicine dr. marc siegel. so obviously the situation on dimon prince is not a good one. how quickly it spread and how far it spread read what went wrong there?
9:45 pm
>> that's a great question i think it's a failed quarantines. because i think the crew, over 1000 crew members weren't really obeying the quarantine themselves. they were eating together, walking around, they didn't wear masks all the time. i think they were conduits of spread so you have 3700 passengers and 450 of them get sick, that's not what is ideal. so i think it's a very good that people are starting to come out of that ship including about 340 americans. so i'm very happy they are out of there. kat: some people have actually chosen to stay on the ship. you think that's a good choice? you think is better to take the flight and get out? >> depends on who they are pre-the people estates and hey have a balcony, were looking out over the water, they're bringing meals to us. if you are sick or elderly, or think you might be at risk of getting infected it's better to get out of there. we found 14 americans were actually harboring the coronavirus and didn't have it because they didn't have

9:47 pm
infrastructure here. we have the ability to isolate and identify cases and decreased spread. so i think people out there should be more worried about our other seasonal respiratory viruses like the flu. you are not doing yourself a service worrying you might have coronavirus now, you don't have it. kat: so many more people are more concerned about this than the flu even though the flu causes more problems according to the numbers. why do you think that is? >> i think it's because we care and worry about something new. something unknown, something we cannot entirely predict. and as you said, some experts said it might come here. but it's not coming here anytime soon. we also don't like the lack of transparency that we are not hearing all of the right numbers over there. we have to get our own experts over there to verify some of this. but it's not coming here and any numbers anytime of the next few weeks. kat: i've seen people putting masks on animals, that is not a thing we need to do right?

and i recently had a heart attack. it changed my life. but i'm a survivor. after my heart attack, my doctor prescribed brilinta. it's for people who have been hospitalized for a heart attack. brilinta is taken with a low-dose aspirin. no more than 100 milligrams as it affects how well brilinta works. brilinta helps keep platelets from sticking together and forming a clot. in a clinical study, brilinta worked better than plavix. brilinta reduced the chance of having another heart attack... ...or dying from one. don't stop taking brilinta without talking to your doctor, since stopping it too soon increases your risk of clots in your stent, heart attack, stroke, and even death. brilinta may cause bruising or bleeding more easily, or serious, sometimes fatal bleeding. don't take brilinta if you have bleeding, like stomach ulcers, a history of bleeding in the brain, or severe liver problems. slow heart rhythm has been reported. tell your doctor about bleeding new or unexpected shortness of breath any planned surgery, and all medicines you take. if you recently had a heart attack, ask your doctor if brilinta is right for you. my heart is worth brilinta.
