we have a chance to finally have a conversation with the american people, and it's a fair conversation to have. we have a choice of looking at what made our country great, continue our judeo-christian values, making our people free or looking at communists, socialists and marxists who will end up ruling with iron fists. i'm excited where we're at today, and i think the problem that we have on the other side with sanders, he's such an arrogant communist that he forgot to take a look at the game plan that has worked so successfully for so long which is you always say that you love our country, love american people, love freedom until you get into office, then you run the game of putting your policies against us. he's told us from the very beginning -- trish: okay. so no go there in your book. what about joe biden who has made such a direct appeal to african-american voters? do you think that he's going to hold them? because, let's face it, actually this president has created a

"the new york times," politico, "usa today," the guardian, "the new york times", i know, had one opinion piece where they did call it a miracle. no, no, no, no. no miracle here. this was the democrat establishment's divine intervention. the establishment's divine intervention. in this case, some party establishment types finally,

yeah, finally, woke up to the threat of a near communist winning the nomination. the democratic establishment in this case was and is the miracle worker. not joe biden himself, not clyburn. after all, who convinced pete and amy to drop out just hours before? and who provided the sudden cashin infusion to -- cash infusion to elizabeth warren's super pac that only supported her and kept her going, kept her taking votes from sanders, thereby costing bernie minnesota where she pulled over 15% of the vote. she cost him there. maine, with another 15%. she cost him there. massachusetts where she pulled a whopping 21% of sanders' voter base, not to mention that sanders would have had bigger victories with more delegates in places like utah colorado, california without warren in the race. i do wonder about the sudden

creation of that super pac designed just for her. was it really to help her or just to hurt bernie sanders and, thus, help biden? aoc and ilhan omar are lamenting the situation tonight, griping that if only social u.s.es would come together -- socialists would come together and have that kind of coordination. omar tweeting, and i quote: imagine if the progressives consolidated like the moderates consolidated, who would have won? well, bottom line, here it is. the democrat establishment picked their candidate last time, and it seems they're doing it again. because, you know, it worked out so well last time. joining me right now, pennsylvania republican congressman scott perry. congressman, good to see you. >> greet to see you, trish. i know we are supposed to believe that nobody got on the phones, that jim clyburn, amy klobuchar, pete buttigieg, tom steyer all came to the same conclusion at the same time that those candidates running for president i putting all their

hard sweat, blood and tears into super tuesday just decided moments before the election, you know what? i'm out. we're also supposed to believe that that just transpired simultaneously and it just happens to be to joe biden's credit. trish: yeah. divine intervention, right? [laughter] courtesy of some pretty powerful democrats. >> right. trish: okay. so they consolidated n. some ways i'm sort of surprised, congressman, they didn't do it earlier. what took 'em so long? >> well, i think they were hoping that it was going to work out with some of the other candidates, and let's face it, this is the democrat party -- even joe biden has abandoned centrist positions that he held in the past and gone far off the left edge. and so the point is they -- that's who they are. they want those votes, right? they want bernie sanders' votes, but they just don't want bernie sanders. it's the same old thing with the democrat party establishment. unfortunately, we want you to vote for us whether you're a

socialist, whether you're hispanic, whether you're a black american. but that's, that's the end of the conversation -- trish: so how disenfranchised, though, are those people getting? if you're in bernie's camp and you think he's going to actually win this thing, and then it turns out that some people made a few phone calls and effectively really hurt your candidate, you might feel like you got robbed again, right? so do you sit home? do you switch sides? where do they go? >> i think it remains, it's got to shake out a little bit. there's also some tension, obviously, between the warren faction and the sanders faction. if that can be worked out somehow, i think we have to see what that looks like. but i i know the last time they did this, the sanders folks, a lot of them did sit out and even some came to trump. i think they did it this way to make the illusion that this happened organically. they set the tables to give them -- the democrat party

leadership, let's face it, doesn't, they don't trust their voters to choose. right? so they're going to give them limited choices to make sure they get to the right place. that's what a they did, and i think the sanders folks are going to have to come to that realization or they're just nebraska going to -- never going to believe it. and bernie himself has to come to that realization. trish: donald trump called it, he said this was going to happen. >> look, donald trump is the youngest man in the race now. ♪ muck. trish: the liberal media distracted for one night one night from coronavirus. distracted by super tuesday. sure enough, they're back at it trying to scare people, trying to convince people this is all somehow president trump's fault. meanwhile, nothing could be actually further from the truth as the president and his task force are working overtime right now trying to keep us safe. hey, remember swine flu? i just want everybody to have some perspective on all this here. back during swine flu more than 12,000 americans died. coronavirus, it looks very different right now. tragically, 11 americans have died. but, again, important to have some perspective. i mean, don't tell that to the mainstream media. they're all acting as if this could be the undoing of president trump. in fact, they kind of seem to be cheering it on if you watch carefully. take a peek. >> what does this say about the government's initial management of the coronavirus? >> a major misstep.

>> it is more than just a lack of leadership. >> federal officials were slow to get testing kits out to hospitals. >> it is going to get worse. and then instead of fixing the problem, your president is going to sulk. >> this administration offers false reassurance. if they don't change their tune, it's going to go from a scandal to a cover-up. trish: joining me right now, health care venture capitalist and republican senator from florida, rick scott. senator scott, good to have you on the program. you know,, i think it's important, right, to be aware of this, to be cautious, to be careful. but nonetheless, not to let it reach a level of hysteria which the media in some ways seems to be encouraging. how do you think about this right now? >> first off, it shouldn't be political. the dem9 just hate -- dems just hate president trump, and they're going to try to make him look bad. they're working hard. the vice president did a press conference today, they're trying to get out information. i think they ought to be doing a press conference every day.

there's more things they could do every day. i dealt with this as governor. whether it's hurricanes or the zika crisis, you need to have a 24/7 hotline just for this issue, so i hope the cdc does that. the biggest issue i'm dealing with in florida is we've got a lot of airport travelers, so how are we going to keep all of our flyers with safe. look, the trump administration, they're putting out information. i get briefings pretty much every day. and they're trying to make sure the public is informed. but the bottom line is, you know, prepare people for the worst and always hope for the best and usually things work out, and i hope in this case -- it's horrible the 11 people we've lost already, but i hope we don't lose any more. trish: yeah. there's, like, a run on hand sanitizer everywhere right now, including on amazon. i think in some cases you can see a 5-ounce bottle of purehl going for $100. a pack of 12, $279.

direct threat to them. chief justice roberts actually issuing a scathing reply to schumer's rant tonight, and this is very rare as you know, sir. saying, quote: justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. all members of the court will continue to do their job without fear or favor from whatever quarter. the violent language is really out in full force, sir, from the left. what is your reaction to it tonight, senator? >> well, you don't have -- i don't have high expectations for chuck schumer, but threatening a supreme court justice is a pretty big, pretty low. i mean, look, i think it's as simple as this, he's worried about a primary challenge from aoc, and so he's trying to reach that base. i think there's a lot of other ways that he could reach the fringe left rather than attack a supreme court justice. it was wrong, it was a low. i think everybody in this country is disappointed in chuck schumer right now.

trish: do the justices deserve an apology from him? >> absolutely. will he apologize? no way. trish: he's doubling down right now. he came back with a statement against, against roberts because, you know, he's angry. >> everything he does, everything he does is politics. i mean, he's not about let's do good policy, let's worry about our country. it's how can he attack trump, you know, the supreme court justices, republicans. that's all he does all day long. he wants to be, he wants to be the majority leader so bad in the senate, he will do anything. i mean, he spent $65 million in my race in 2018, had a super pac to try to beat me. he'll do anything to try to become majority leader. trish: it's disappointing because, you know, we kind of hold you all up on a pedestal, you know? regardless of party, you're senators. and, you know, you, you're an important part, the fabric of

our country. and to see one of them treat our supreme court justices like that, you know, people who certainly should be above reproach and shouldn't be threatened in that way, he's willing -- it seems, senator -- to take a dangerous turn. >> right. but you know what? the democrats have all become socialists. and if they can't get it through the ballot box, they'll do it through the court system, they'll intimidate people, they'll do whatever they want. they've all become all -- you kk about it, we can all say, oh, bernie sanders is a socialist. no, he's the one that's at least admitting it. they've all become socialists. and biden will be just as dangerous as bernie sanders is crazy. trish: i have a feeling you're quite right. in fact, that's actually one of my next segments coming up. misconduct. and then you've got joy reid who's still there, and she's one who had all kinds of homophobic and bigoted content. my goodness some why are the rules different for those folks but chris matthews is shown the door? you know, i'm going to tell you something, i used to work there, and i worked many time on chris matthews' show, and he was always very respectful. one thing i liked about him -- we didn't see eye to eye in terms of politics or policy, certainly on the economy, but nonetheless, he understood economics. this is a guy who understood the difference between fiscal and monetary policy which i'm telling you is a rare thing there at nbc. but he understood it, he appreciated it, he was an economics major at holy cross, and he was willing to listen to the other side. and that's something that, you know, regardless of where you are, you always need to be willing and able to do.
