today was the first death in ths country of the virus. your reaction? >> hardly surprised, lou. did we really believe this virus suddenly erupted overnight decer 31 in china, or maybe the chinee government waited a long time before revealing anything. the strainl -- the strain seemeo go to . so it is hardly surprising to me we see cases confirmed as early as february. i think it was way long before that. i think december or january, when we first started seeing cases in the united states. clearly information was suppressed from china. lou: still is being but, in terms of the, the timing of the first patient dying here, that

means that, likely, someone returned from china at during that period we didn't know about, or there could have been asymptomatic, asymptomatic person who gave it to the patient who died. there is so much we don't know within our own country about this. then to look at china, who is actively, and relentlessly covering up everything that they did and then, covering up the fact that they had a deadly pandemic in the offing of which we now are paying for. >> lou, to your point, when i was in dulles airport in february, the custom, border protection people there were very hard-working earnest people, said to me, people lie here all the time. they are asking them questionnaires. the president was rightly

restricting travel from china very early on here around clearly saved many, many lives doing that, but that doesn't mean that people weren't trying to fool the cpb agents and it doesn't mean they weren't coming through other countries as well. maybe started in china. went to thailand, then to europe and came here. its not surprising people were spreading here from china even under those very, very correct travel restrictions early on and no doubt it seed ad lot of communities. the other point you made, we found out since then, not only wildly contagious virus much more so than the chinese were ever admitting but spread aic asymptomatically. taking a temperature may not tell you anything. lou: there is a lot of good news, the fda approving a

in-home tests. we're seeing more rigorous tests of hydroxychlorquine. great things are happening. president pointing out scientists are working on vaccines. dr. redfield misquoted he says, white house says very clearly. i want to share this quote with the audience and i want to get your reaction to what he was saying. if we could see the redfield quote, in which he said there is a possibility the assault of the virus on our nation next winter will actually be even more difficult than the one we went through. i want your reaction to that, and redfield's explanation, that he was talking about the confluence of flu and the virus, the coronavirus? >> well let's start of course with the kayleigh mcenany statement i completely agree

with, he was just trying to shed light on virus, the flu, we're not getting our flu shots but more than that i happened to speak to dr. redfield about this coincidentally. let me show you how fake news works, lou. here is what he actually said to me. he said to me, you know i think this is a seasonal virus. i agree with dr. fauci on that. i said, what do you mean by that? i think that means if we keep following the public health restrictions we may get out of the woods soon. we may see see a precipitous drop in cases next few months. very good news. then i said, seasonal, do you think it will come back in the fall? you know what he said to that? same thing i said. we're watching southern hemisphere for clues. their fall starts now. dr. redfield, we have 666 cases in australia. that may be a good sign it won't surge back in the fall. it may, may not. australia is not looking bad.

disinformation campaign against the united states u.s. officials telling fox that the three countries are circulating claims that the virus is a bio weapon from the united states and that the bill and melinda gates foundation created the virus with pharmaceutical companies, to make money from the treatment. that is a, quite a combination. china, russia, and iran. joining us tonight, kt mcfarland, former deputy national security advise to president trump. author of the new book which we recommend to you highly, "revolution, trump, washington and we the people." kt, first of all, let's start with iran launching a military satellite. secretary pompeo says there must be an accounting. iran must be held responsible and the president issuing orders for the u.s. navy, the coast guard, to fire on any of those vessels that are harassing our ships in the area.

what do you say? >> i think that was simply brilliant of president trump. he said three things really at once by that. number one, he has got to have the iranians scrambling because he is implying that we have intelligence about some i am impending attack. they have to be scrambling, who is leaking. putting shot across the bow for iran. he give them responsibility. he gave them fair warning. if they attack, it will be your fault if i'm forced to do president trump always thinks about the second and third level reaction. this is a shot across the bow of china.

lou: the response of the united nations violating a u.n. resolution, how much support will there be for reaction against iran. >> crickets. the iranians -- the united nations has shown itself to be a feckless organization. where were they when the pandemic started. the world health organization works for the united nations. as a result of what they have done and their incompetence we have a worldwide pandemic. if we are going to criticize anybody other than israel and the united states? not in current times. it could maneuver itself into the leadership of these world

organizations are not worth much to the united states or the democracies of the world. lou: the issue of firing on those boats. it happened particularly in the obama years when our sailors were taken without reaction and without response. and the idea that we would permit -- the u.s. navy would permit one of these vessels carrying high explosives or any number of things in them and let them get within 30 feet of a u.s. warship. i'm so proud the president stood up and said this will not be tolerated. >> the way he did it is very effective. he put two more ships in the south china sea so china gets

the message. and he said make my day. anything they want to do, they will be met swiftly and they will not have the support of the world behind them. they have been warned. now they are going to do it any way? i don't think so. lou: the reaction in the world to the knowledge that russia and china are carrying out a campaign of disinformation against the united states. that's quite a trio and the world has to consider what they are doing. i want to know what you think about the prospects for a response that would be appropriate. >> this is not the two allies china was hoping to have, russia

and iran? they thought they would be the leader of the world and all the western countries would proclaim china's greatness. i think china's action as using the wuhan virus to spread the virus around the world. countries china has tried to black mail last two or three weeks. and countries feel mistreated by china. i think the united states has a real opportunity particularly under trump's leadership to assemble these countries and say we all had enough with china. and stand up not just as one. but if we stand up together, under trump's leadership that he's willing to stand up to childa. you don't think china would be picking us off? >> know, others.

[♪] lou: acting director national intelligence richard grenell shot back at adam schiff after schiff demanded answers about grenell's agency personnel changes including the firing of the former inspector general. he wrote, think of the relationship between your committee and the i.c. as that between the legislative and executive branches of government rather than that between a hedge fund and distressed asset as

your letter suggests. ambassador, i have got to say that's a great response. john solomon recently obtained a letter from adam schiff to the former director intelligence dan coats in which schiff forbids the dni from sharing declassified information with the president of the united states. the forbidden documents are transcripts of 43 witnesses in the russia collusion investigation. the special counsel investigation. the witch hunt, the hoax. the effort to overthrow the president of the united states. in september 2018 under republican leadership the house intel committee agreed to make those transcripts public. but schiff wrote to coates and said under no circumstances should the office of the

national intelligence director share any house intelligence committee transcripts with the white house, president trump or any persons associated with the white house or the president. joining us, john solomon, editor-in-chief of his new media outlet, just the "america's new" what would be the word for him? he's a bit of a twit, and more than dangerous. you made it possible for us to see all this. where are we headed with this nonsense from schiff and friends? >> what it shows is two things. what started as an effort at

transparency. the bipartisan committee agreed the american people should see the transcripts. then schiff turns it away from transparency and makes it don't give anything to donald trump that might help his case against the mueller are investigation. we found out it was russian disinformation. and adam schiff had to go from being an advocate of transparency to an advocate of covering things up. my reporting indicates 43 transcripts were sent to adam schiff from the dni and he held on to them all this time. why? because they probably blow the whistle on how bad the russia collusion investigation was. lou: there is something that stands out in the midst of all

of this nonsense. and effort -- obvious effort to overthrow the president. whether it's the fbi investigation or special counsel investigation or the silly impeachment inquiry. schumer and pelosi and nadler and schiff and the list goes on are all behaving as if they were russian assets. if they were paid by russia their conduct in all of this, i can't see how it would have been any different. can you? >> that's what we are all coming to grips with. adam schiff was one of the biggest losers much declassification because he was spreading russian propaganda. russian disinformation. our cia determined the

information in the steele dossier was debunked, uncorroborated and russian dates information. one of the biggest purveyors of that information was adam schiff. even it was clear mueller would rule out collusion. what did adam schiff tell us? there is collusion if you are willing to see it. he's the biggest loser because it blows the whistle on the charade he pulled on the american people for 2 1/2 years. lou: or at least tried to. it's appalling when i think of what this party of 8 tried to accomplish, and to this point no consequences. let me take your temperature on consequences. will there be any? >> i think so. there is clear evidence that there is activity, criminal investigation that is engaging in the sort of conduct that

>> he also refers to it as a war. and he's absolutely right. it is a war. when you are in a war you have better win it or you will lose it. lou, when you look at the devastation wrought on this economy by the shutdowns. the more you talk, the more you hear, it's a very, very deep hole. for individuals, for businesses, for families, even more big corporations and ultimately for the government. i think we have no choice but to throw everything we have into the battle. as much as i don't like it as a conservative on these issues, i think survival is at stake. lou: this is unprecedented and demands every resource the president put together to

counter the pandemic and the economic consequences we are all feeling. on the issue of what to do. mitch mcconnell saying he thinks the states should file for bankruptcy if they have difficulties amongst other things, their pension plans. your reaction? >> most states can't file for bankruptcy. they have to change the federal law. most states are required to balance their budgets every year. it's nice rhetoric. but the reality is the federal government will have to help some of these states get their economy back. as tragic as it is, that's just the reality. lou: today this -- first let me turn to the president's tweeft yesterday. in -- tweet of yesterday. in light of the attack from the

invisible enemy as well as the need to protect the jobs of our great american citizens, i will be signing an executive order to temporarily suspend immigration into the united states. your reaction? a 60-day suspension in immigration. michael? >> in general i think it's a good idea. i think it's also a public health issue as well. but my understanding is the details are not quite as sweeping as that. and at least what is being discussed. and i believe "politico" had a story saying it seemed a slot less dramatic than it was sounding in that tweet. i think it shouldn't strong for beth american job -- for both as and public safety. lou: and to protect american

working men and women. our middle class. everyone who aspires to the middle class to protect those jobs and the american family. ed, your reaction to it? >> growing up in california, you have to make sure the farm workers who come in on the special allotment are still allowed to come in. you can't just shut down agriculture. most americans won't work as farm workers. you have to have a balance where they can come in and go back. that's the key thing here. lou: which the white house across manied. they are also -- the white house acknowledged. they are also talking about visas in direct competition from foreign workers to american workers. this program of is rife with

conflicts with many the american workman and woman. the h-1b exception is unwise. >> i would say in this environment where nobody is working, you would hope when the jobs first open up they would go to americans rather than some kind of visa system to bring in foreign workers. we certainly do not need foreign workers at the high level given how many americans have lost their jobs. lou: korea. as we are watching what's play out, there has been and lot of silence today on the fate of kim jong-un and his condition, and the prospects for any succession should it be necessary. your thoughts as we wrap up? >> south korea and north korea

absolutely crazy. on the other side for millions of americans who feel that they have been left out of the national media's conversation for a long time or they patronized and dismissed, it's kind of satisfying. finally at least someone is fighting back. and journalists really -- you know, on the one hand there is an argument that the freedom of the press and this is such an important institution in the country, et cetera, et cetera. but that doesn't place any of us above accountability. if you are interested in the truth and interested in both sides, then you need to do that. many of these journalists are not. lou: it's really quite apparent many in that with white house -- there are some good reporters in that room. but there are also some -- i

think some of the most atrocious representatives of something called a free press because they are not -- the president demonstrated -- i don't think he condescends to them at all. he's speaking to them as an equal. he's not putting up with bull or nonsense. he's giving better than he's getting in my opinion not because it's standing on ceremony as president of the united states, but because he shows them exactly how lacking in many they are, and of course their lack of manners is all too obvious. what would you think of the idea of the -- have having some sort of explanation from the corporate owners of these biased media outlets, i'm talking about cnn, msnbc, cbs. abc and disney. these people are representing

those corporate owners. they can't be doing this without their perso -- without their permission. your thoughts? >> well, look at the context, lou. you can take any newspaper in this country and just about any television station. look at online sites. there are some that are sort of in lock step with the progressive propaganda set who have so much influence across the media. look at "new york" magazine or the daily beast. but overwhelmingly almost 100% of their coverage about this president and this administration is negative all the time. and what that has done is isolate them from anyone in this country who doesn't see it their way. it has has also done is exposed they are not as objective as we always believed. i was part of for more than 35

years, and i always believed that that's what we cared about was getting it right. it's imperfect but noble struggle for the truth. that's the ground most of the media doesn't want to give up, that moral high ground. if you see it their way and you are on the left, that usual imperfect but still valiantly struggling for something called the truth. on the other side you have the crazy right wingers and conspiracy theorists. one is valid and one is not. that's the reckoning coming from these media organizations. people recognize this now. it's been exposed. having a different point of view, maybe supporting this president, not hating him as an example. that doesn't necessarily make you dishonest. and that's what's being exposed now.

he's saying you have got to do your job. that's fair enough. they are demanding he does his job. it's a two-way street. lou are * it's very high-minded of you, and i think you are correct. but there is the matter of doing your job. and when reporters sit there in the presence of the president which drives me nuts. why aren't they standing, he is the president of the united states. i am sort of sick of watching them slack in their chairs, condescending to the president of the united states, and i thinking about ill mannered in doing so. forget their language and silly questions. but not knowing what the price of oil is or not knowing hot inspector general is -- who the inspector joins. and it was not a he, it was a she. these are poor representatives
