area for his support of nasdaq. jackie: thank you so much, connell? connell: steve forbes joins us now, happy to be out of the northeast rain for hillary vaughn in pennsylvania today but she did a good job in setting up what joe biden economically wants to make the race about an main street versus wall street, when they spoke yesterday and talked about ending the era of shareholder capitalism, maybe that scared us and folks, what did you think of that? >> the real contrast is the obama years where you had the worst recovery from the shock downturn in american history because of higher taxes and more regulation, what a great boom we had before the kobe crisis and we set unemployment with record lows including minority communities and wages were rising especially for low-income workers. so joe biden what he's proposing

is what doctors used to do 200 years ago when a patient got sick, they would believe him, this would take a recovering economy and put them back in intensive care unit, higher taxes, more regulation, it does not work and it does not work overseas. it's a loser formula, you may use trump's rhetoric by golly he is using the snake oil that is not worked in history, not here or anywhere else. connell: let me pick up on the last point, you may use the president's rhetoric, you heard edward lawrence report, the president's response to that today but making america the tax president, it's obvious that he is trying to target voters and we talked about this a little yesterday in these trying to talk to voters who voted obama and turn around and vote trump, but your point he is not doing it with substance, he is doing and from the way he praises things or name things. >> i think voters are beyond slogans and stuff like that, they want to know what is the substance and for people want

vegetarian, where's the beef, you find out that his version of it is sending the economy backwards to destroy capital creation which is essential for moving this economy forward or job creation, making people more expensive, and again, this stuff has not worked before, i just don't understand, maybe it is our schools or something, i don't understand why they don't get, and economy which is people work, remove barriers and people do great things, put barriers in the way and get less get things done. connell: let me ask you this, if all is true, there's an interesting phenomenon, every poll that we have, all the prediction market that we look at, whatever data point you wanted point to says that joe biden is more likely to be president in january of 2021 then donald trump, he is leading right now but the market has been going on, the nasdaq three records in a row, that's overreporting on the top of the show and if investors are so

scared of biden, they are not really showing are they? >> i think you have to take all of this pulling with a huge grain of salt, this country has been through two massive crisis this year end i think people are turning inward, the pulling itself is often skewed in the terms of republicans that they have in there. i don't think people made their mind up in terms of convictions and in terms of some of the investors when they talk about it biden gets in it does these bad things, the federal reserve will. more money and all will be well, they need a wake-up call. in terms of the market, i would be a bit cautious because of biden gets in the federal reserve can do all at once but those higher taxes and higher regulation will mean stagnation, we saw that in the 1970s before you were born and we saw in the last ten years when we had the miserable recovery, again snake oil does not work,

death in severely ill covid-19 patients, here now is family emergency medicine physician and fox news medical contributor doctor jenness, always great to see you on the program, i want to talk about this treatment coming out from gilead because not only does the stock move but wall street gets very excited anytime there is news of a possible treatment in the pipeline and that of a vaccine as well. it means that we can get back to business and life can get back to normal, the question is gilead's drug, how quickly a patient that is severely ill start to receive the therapy. >> that's a great question because there is a shortage of the drug globally but fortunately our president actually secured 100% of remdesivir for the month of july in 90% of the supply for august and september, this drug is used for those who are hospitalized, those who are ill either on

ventilators -- can you hear me okay? those were on ventilators require oxygen, what the drug remdesivir does, used to help stop and block the virus from locating, stopping them from invading our bodies so we don't become ill and hospitalized in the latest data suggest that 74% of patients who received the medication and iv form had recovery by day 14 versus 59% who did not receive the drug, they did not recover by day 14, they just received the standard of care, it was shown to have a reduction in mortality but further studies are required, we need more test to determine is this truly beneficial versus what we call placebo effect, it is also being used with other drugs, decadron which is an anti-inflammatory and rheumatoid arthritis information as well. there is good outcome so far from the limited data that we

have and also it is not the only drug that is being tested and investigated pre-we have the steroid, we also have the convalescent plasma and also antibodies which are being investigated. ultimo drugs being tested instantly encouraging news moving into the weekend. >> i went and brought another conversation a little bit and looking stats from the cdc, the first one i want to pull out shows the rate of covid-19 as we know, it is going pretty much straight up there with respect to the spiking cases that we have seen in the administration will argue while we are testing more, that is whites going up, others would argue that we are seeing more transmission of this across the country but the mortality rate while everybody talks about how it's being decreased, i want to show you the figures from the cdc in week 266.9% in week 27 it has come down to 5.5%, that is the 11th straight week that the mortality rate has come down, when you

look at the virus with respect to how it spreading across the country the administration has said every life lost is valuable in the goal is to get that to come down even further so we can manage this and we don't destroy yourselves in the process with everything else that is happening with the economy. your thoughts on how quickly we can do that with the drugs that we are watching. >> you are absolutely right, were having a percentage on the country but it's only in certain states, california, arizona, texas and you're absolutely right, the effects of keeping economy shutdown can be detrimental for patients and people in this country than the lockdown itself because we have to remember 600,000 people die every year from heart disease and cancers and not getting their vaccinations are not getting their preventative follow-ups with their doctors, it is very important that we take a closer look at the mortality rate in figure what

that tells us, less than 1%, but we still need to make sure that we don't continue to have the surges in outbreaks because even though it's only in a few states right now, it is putting a huge burden on the hospitals and icus, some of these states are reaching icy hospital capacity and stretching the doctors and nurses thin, having these medications sooner than later are detrimental, they are all still under study, under investigation, we cannot rush them by having multiple tools, the remdesivir, plasma, certain autoimmune drugs are being investigated, in addition to the vaccine which hopefully we may have by the end of this year end by the end of this year than early next year. nova vax received $1.6 billion by our government to produce 100 million doses of vaccine hopefully by the end of this year, all of this together, hopefully will eradicate or

farm struggling in the coronavirus but a group of farmers in indiana who are seeing a huge spike in their business despite the fact that restaurants are closed in here to discuss that is chris the owner of pond farms, explain it to us why should business doing so well in these times. >> i think when the coronavirus first began people started to think about food and everybody went to the grocery store in the big meat factories were closing down, we had a big plant close here, people got concerned and started to look for a more secure food chain, buying from their neighbors, within their communities, that's been a really good thing for us. connell: your direct to consumers, people want to have food, they can come to you and bring it all and they have the food, right before when you were writing at the bottom of the screen, is this a boom or a bl

blip, that seems to be none of the things that we look into with a lot of what is happening with the pandemic, we would do stories on real estate, people moving out of the city to the suburbs, will that be a boom or a blip, what about in your case is it sustainable? >> i really do, we've been doing direct consumer for about nine years, shopify customer and basically an e-commerce business that is very local, we only deliver within 50 miles of our farm and we had a very good business going into this but it has ballooned since them and there is amelioration, i don't meaneed the grocery store to cue my food, when things move online, you can go broad and i'm not dedicated to a single point of purchase and i think that will be a permanent change for us. connell: it's really interesting, that could change a lot of businesses for well, is it just people that don't

necessarily need to go to the grocery store or people who have not had the option of eating out that have not been able to go to the restaurant and once they're open 100% you can go out as much as you want and the capacity is up to where it was in some of that goes away. >> a lot of that is open to question isn't it. in our case, i think people once they find out you go online, everyone has a phone and say i want to buy paper towels and kraft macaroni and cheese from kroger and i'm going to get my meat and it will all be delivered to me, is irrelevant to the consumer where the boxes anymore. connell: i guess it is. and i think what you mentioned earlier they feel safer about it. that shouldn't necessarily go away even if her some point the virus does, that's a feeling that people have. >> you closer to the source of your food, by definition the

quality should be better in the price differential is really not that bad. we used to be a little bit more expensive than grocery stores but grocery stores have been raising their prices in this pandemic and we have not. the price of a pound of ground beef is not that different from the price of ground beef in a grocery store but the quality is noticeable. connell: you own restaurant if i have it right that are doing delivery as well, is that all one in the same? >> there are actually two separate businesses, we have a startup where in indianapolis, columbus, ohio and kansas city and we're we make all the food, we have a broad menu of 100 different items, we use 1099 drivers that are dedicated and not with third parties in that business is going extremely well to, we actually -.

connell: sorry to interrupt, you can discontinue, what do you see there that is different from the foreign business, or to your point is a pretty much the same kind of trend? >> i think it's the same kind, people want to be home and people have been predicting this for a while and i have a great house in my idea furniture in my 70-inch tv and i have my netflix and hulu, i want to be home, this trend has been happening, restaurant sales were down 3% year-over-year before the pandemic. now this is just accelerating all the behavior. connell: i think that's the case, that's why i reference some of the things that we said earlier whether this is a boom or a blip, at the end of the day the pandemic, probably, not in all cases, some cases, this is one that you're talking about made things happen faster, i don't think anybody thought

necessarily that some of these things will happen fast, you're pretty well-positioned for, do you have plans to change or expand or do anything differently before i let you go? >> the farm is local, we will keep doing what were doing and serve our communities, we have nation international ambition, we signed a partnership with kroger to move into kroger stores back in december, that has been progressing very, very well but we expect to be a national brand, our competitors are the third party and we are here to win. connell: i had to let you say because i felt that was a hard word to say on tv. cluster truck is the other one. jackie: a second blow to small businesses, one cup coffee shop laying off employees for second time after their ppp loan was up, joining us now co-owner, stephanie williams, thank you so much for joining us today, there has been a lot of frustration with small business owners have run through their ppp funds while waiting to see when congress comes back there will be more stimulus through the cares act but not necessarily sure if there's another round of ppp and the logic and rationale, businesses are starting to open and they're getting back on their feet, that is not true in all cases right? >> that is right, thank you so much for having me, i think because we have had the ppp help over the last eight weeks or whatever length of time for whatever restaurant that maybe

there has been an appearance that things are doing okay in the restaurant industry is bearing the storm and now for a lot of us the ppp money has dried up and i think now is when we need to support and we will see a lot of closure. jackie: what if you don't get that support, say there is not another round, do you buy the rest of your employees off permanently, do you close your business, how severe is your particular situation? >> we have two locations right now, as you mentioned we had to lay our employees off back in march, we were so helpful with the ppp loan and we rehired them thinking that this would all be over in eight weeks but as we seen it is not but in a lot of areas it is worse than ever, then we have gone back and relayed off the same group of

employees which is devastating, in our case we had two locations with 16 employees each and we laid ten from each location. that is 20 people who were like family to us. so we cut the cost of labor but i think if we don't see help from congress or we don't see a big influx of orders from people, i think people would appreciate it people would meet us where were at, for only able to do delivery or curbside or to go and you have a restaurant that you love and you want to see whether the storm that's what everybody can do. jackie: it is so interesting that you bring that point up because of the takeout i tend to go to all my favorite restaurants in neighborhood specifically to support them and we even took 20% even if it's carry out, the question i have

for you, obviously texas is a hotspot here, are consumers just really being introverted and staying home, is there a fear to order from the coffee shop, what is the problem right now as we get to the transition stage. >> for us our business model was really communal, we had a big community and they like to come and hang out and stay a while and because are really cognizant of keeping our communities safe in our stop member states, we kept our dining rooms closed and i think for a personal model, your only able to do so much to go business and as you touched on earlier, i'm not sure that people realize how dire things are in the having your favorite restaurant there for the end of the day in placing those orders regularly to the best of your ability. jackie: there are options if you can't apply for a second ppp loan for example through the

small business administration, the work that i've done on it shows the terms may not be unfavorable, the standards may be a little tougher than they were, have you investigated any of those? >> we are getting the e-mails from the texas restaurant association and trying to put down that stuff but sometimes it feels like between having to pivot in the delivery service in a grocery store and trying to figure out a way to maintain health insurance for your furloughed staff, at the end of the day keeping up with the ppp thing is just like another thing on the list. we are doing it to the best of our ability and austin, they just made grants available and were trying to be eligible for those. jackie: i hear you, it's been so difficult for not just you but many other people, operating small businesses, that's the backbone of this country, thank you for continuing to try, caring about those employees, we wish you the best and we will follow up with you.
