elizabeth: welcome to the show. you're watching the fox business network. let's get right to edward lawrence in washington with the latest headlines there. edward? >> reporter: yeah, liz. late this afternoon the president signing four executive orders designed to get drug price down. the first one would pass along the rebates that federal community health centers get for influence and -- [inaudible] allowing states to legally import canadian prescription drugs. the third, to preprevent middlemen from keeping rebates on medicine and forcing them to pass through the discount to consumers. finally, medicare is directed to buy medicine at the same price as foreign countries. now, he gave on that last one drug companies til august 25th to come up with a solution, they could possibly delay that one. no longer will the u.s. support the rest of the world by paying more for prescription medicine.

closed, loses the opportunity to receive education and needed social services. >> reporter: and before we get there, dr. deborah birx says 11 u.s. cities need to take aggressive steps to get under control the coronavirus. dr. anthony fauci saying late today he does not think we need another shutdown, but some states that are in phase two of reopening, for example, may want to go back to phase one of reopening just to get a handle on the surge in cases. again, that's a case-by-case basis, he says. liz? elizabeth: okay. edward, thank you so much. it's great to see you. okay, this story, federal officials now moving into seattle, preparing for a weekend of potential riots there. portland, oregon, you should siege, now bracing -- under siege, now bracing for another night of riots after more than 2,000 showed up last night. wide spread e destruction from two months of rioting. at least 60 now arrested, one

man charged with hutting an officer with a sledgehammer,'res charged with pointing lasers at police officers' eyes in order to blind them. some now with permanent vision damage. okay, let's go through it. joe biden and democrats now attack president trump claiming he's trying to stop, quote, peaceful protests when rioters have hit officers with baseball bats, bricks, glass bottles, concrete, rocks, feces, pig feet, frozen water bottles, fireworks, slingshots filled with batteries, boards with nails driven into them and smoke bombs thrown into flames after rioters set fire to fillings and tried to -- buildings and tried to barricade officers inside. but here's the latest. rioters are now going after officers and their families in their homes. let's welcome retired i.c.e. acting director. it's great to have you back on, sir. they put out on the internet the personal home addresses and phone numbers of 38 police

officers in portland, also officers in kentucky, washington, d.c., georgia, new york, massachusetts, and they're telling extremists to go to these homes. that could put their families at risk. what's your reaction? >> yeah, this is terrible. this shouldn't happen in modern-day america. the people who protect the cities, the srt people that are in portland for cbp, they're patriots. they took an oath to protect this country, and you can see what happens when a modern police department like portland walks away from their responsibility to protect the citizens and that courthouse x. so cbp has been asked to go back in and help the federal protective service to line this thing out and protect that courthouse. just imagine if they weren't there, it would be in rubble right now x. families of law enforcement officers already make enough sacrifice with the dangers that their spouses engage in at work, and now they're make their lives difficult by putting information about their homes and their children on the internet. just should not be. elizabeth: okay. let's watch mark morgan. he's the acting commissioner of

customs and border protection. he was with us last night. let's take a listen. >> i've authorized them to remove their names because the same criminals who are trying to injure them, they're actually trying to get people to go to their homes. that's disgusting. while these agents are deployed portland, their families back home, they're not with them, they're actually being dossed and having -- encouraging people to go to their homes. that's outrageous. we should all be united. that is wrong. elizabeth: okay. so the officers' names are covered up for a reason. because they're getting exposed on the internet. their families are put at risk. i mean, instead of complaining, hey, there's no identifying marks for them, they're just showing badge numbers, but this is about protecting them, right? >> yeah. they shouldn't have to face the risks with their families being targeted at home. so covering up their identity, letting each other know who it is but not letting the public

see it in this time, it just proves the narrative this isn't a peaceful protest. these people want to destroy things, and they're making a good effort. and if cbp wasn't there, it'd be much worse than it is. elizabeth: you know, it's unfortunate that politics has gotten into this, but the democrats are now being accused of silence over -- and a lack of outrage over that and the hundreds of rioters who targeted the home of chicago mayor lori lightfoot last night saying, you know, resign, cops should be defunded. the mayor of oakland, california, her home was targeted with vandalism and gras fit few, and now the doj inspector general is launching an investigation into federal agents and the use of force in portland? >> yeah. if these cities would take control of the crime problems that they have, if this demonstration was put down earlier, if the portland police engaged like they should in a modern city, we wouldn't have these kinds of problems. it's just that people believe they can get away with stuff like this. they're going to continue to do

it. elizabeth: okay. rioters who are arrested also in beverly hills, california, last night, rioters in seattle last night again. they broke windows, they looted, they damaged businesses. your take on how that violence are came after a federal judge ruled that he will stop police from using tear gas to stop mob violence, it came just days after a dozen cops were injured in seattle with mortar-style fire tossed at them at close range. show the image, gang -- talking to my gang in the booth -- there was also a man who went on a spree, mayhem in portland. he had a hand saw and attacked women in a laundromat, and protesters reportedly intervene ised. your take on that. >> now is not the time to take capabilities or tools that the police have to protect themselves and to protect their communities. so defunding and removing the tools that they need to control

a situation is a terrible idea, and the consequences are going to be long lasting in places when these cities are destroyed and businesses can't open because these rioters are taking control of the streets. elizabeth: you know, and critics say tone down the rhetoric. the words that are being used, critics say, are inflammatory and igniting and basically making things worse. the mayor of portland uses a security detail. he's for defunding police. he went to the riots to thank the protesters, he was booed, rioters demanded he resigned. now he claims federal forces are going to kill people. let's watch him. watch this. >> ultimately what i'm worried about and what others in my community are worried about that nonviolent americans are going to be killed for doing nothing other than standing up for american democratic principles. this is a serious issue.

elizabeth: is that a serious threat, sir? >> all of the law enforcement that are serving there and around the country, they're there to protect people. it's not dangerous to protect the courthouse. and you can see by the destruction and the reports that you had on earlier about officers being blinded by lasers, being hit by hammers and rocks, that's not a peaceful demonstration. that's a riot. and he ought to know better, he's an elected official -- elizabeth: but he's saying, he's saying federal forces are being sent in, they're going to kill people. your reaction to that. >> that's not why they're there. they're there to protect that building, and that's what their responsibility is. fds is charged with doing that mission, and cbp is helping them. when i was commissioner, we deployed in san diego for similar circumstance. someone's got to protect that space because, obviously, the police department didn't do it. just like in 2018 when they took over the i.c.e. headquarters in

downtown portland, the police department walked away from it x it was nine weeks later before they got that building back under or control after millions and millions worth of damage. this shouldn't happen in a modern american city. elizabeth: all right. we're showing the assault again in portland, oregon, of the man with the hand saw. let's hope it does not come to that. ronald, thank you so much -- the use of force there. good to see you,er. next up, republican house minority leader kevin mccarthy. he is now warning house democrats start taking marching orders from house speaker pelosi to block a bill that would publish chinese professionals who covered up the pandemic. fox news military analyst retired army colonel david hunt on that story next. >> this horrible disease that was sent to us but china. should not have been sent. they should have stopped it, they could have stopped it e, they didn't, and the entire they didn't, and the entire world has gotten infected.

china spying on the u.s. this as china is in a tit for tat, ordering the u.s. consulate in southwestern china to shut down. welcome back fox news military analyst, retired army colonel david hunt. colonel, your take on congressman kevin mccarthy there. >> yeah. here's my issue with that and the china did all this. what do you want to do? we've got -- the president and the secretary of state saying china did this, they created the virus, they clearly lied about it, but they created it and sent it. therefore, if that's true, china -- [audio difficulty] millions of lives being affected and hundreds of thousands of lives dead. and i -- so what do you want to do about this? i know that china lied. i know that they misrepresented. well, i don't think we have yet proven that this was chinese-developedded and weaponized.

because if that's true, that's an act of war. elizabeth: okay, i hear what you're saying. the house bill from republicans would punish the chinese officials who covered it up. i mean, that's what the secretary of state, mike pompeo is blaming china for that, for the cover-up, the white house has been saying that, independent analysts have been saying that. i mean, 4 million in the u.s. now infected, 144,000 now dead? yes, more than 1.2 million have recovered, but there's also this, colonel. dr. anthony fauci said things will return to normal in 2021. because of vaccines, but china's now accused of stealing that research. >> all -- everything, let's say everything, that's true. few point is, what do you want -- my point is what do you want to do about this? that's been the lack of political will. it's not democratic or government, u.s. government. what is our response to what the chinese we know have done which

lower court judge continues with that case and michael flynn loses. as we have more on this story we brought you last night, a newly declassified memo written by an fbi agent in august 2015 is reveals more on what we have been reporting for several years, that the fbi did secretly plant an fbi agent at a routine briefing with donald trump and general flynn to secretly spy on them for both the trump-russia probe and the new probe into general michael flynn that james comey had just opened a day before. i know she's toured up, former trump deputy national security adviser, kt mcfarland, great to see you. when you heard this, what did you say? was this fbi's quote, insurance policy, that, you know, peter strzok had texted lisa page about to stop trump from winning? was that part of the insurance policy there? >> i think it was part of it, but i think it was much bigger. here's the thing. liz, not only were they spying, but they kept notes.

i mean, how dumb are these fbi agents, right? they go to a briefing, they're there under a different purpose. i mean, a defensive briefing tells you things like, look, here's how people might try to recruit you to be spieds. don't give -- spies. don't give your dog walker a key to your apartment. there are all sorts of things they show you and teach you on how to protect yourself and classified information. so in the middle of these briefings, they've got their own spy. so here they are supposedly telling the trump administration people here's how you've got to watch out for russian and chinese spies, and the whole time they were spying themselves, and then they were taking notes and putting notes in the file. these guys are caught, i mean, red handed. elizabeth: you know, kt, let's break it down. let's put it in the context of what else was going on in march 2016, peter strzok and lisa page

text that trump loathsome, that hillary should win. august 8th, lisa page texts, trump's not ever going to be president, right in and strzok says, no, he's not, we'll stop it. then strzok texts lisa page about that insurance policy because they cannot take the risk that trump wins. next day the fbi opens the probe into general flynn. and the day after that, the fbi uses this briefing to spy on trump and flynn. in the context of that, you can see what's going on, right, kt? >> sure. and at the same time, liz, they were also leaking to their favorite newspaper reporters. you know, at that same period of time there were anonymous sources saying donald trump is an agent of the russians, general flynn was working with vladimir putin. donald trump never would have won the election if it hadn't been for russian interference. they were spying on the trump people, not only during the campaign but, frankly, into the administration. they were leaking anonymous sources, and then the intelligence community would

point to those articles in the press and say, see? anonymous sources. we really better investigate further. it was a circular thing. they planted the stories, and then they used the stories to do the wiretapping and to do the sitting in on the meeting and the spying. again, the thing i find extraordinary, liz, they took notes! they either thought that they were so sure or that trump wouldn't win that they'd never be discovered or this is their own personal insurance policy so that if it was ever uncovered that they were spying, they were doing the wrong thing, they'd be able to blame the boss. elizabeth: i want to ask you about that because fbi agent joseph by yet ca did the briefing with general flynn. he wrote the memo about it. peter strzok signed off on it, so did kevin klein smith. andrew mccabe said they picked pientka because he was a top agent. he later interviews flynn along with peter strzok trying to corner flynn into lying to the fbi. is it your sense that we're

seeing documents released and declassified now because the u.s. attorney, junk during how many -- john durham, talking to them maybe in his criminal probe? >> yeah. i mean, here's -- elizabeth: you think that's going on? >> since the mueller -- i think that's exactly what's going on. these are documents being declassified and released to the public. they're only sent out to the public once the justice department and durham are finished with them. i think they've already are talked to pientka, i think they're probably talking to strzok. but that's how they do these investigations. they start small and then you're supposed to plead guilty if or blame your boss, and it works it way up the food chain. that's how they came after me. in our case, of course, in the trump administration nobody had done anything wrong x so it really was a lot of dead ends. in this case it looks like they're uncovering an awful lot of stuff. i hope so. elizabeth: all right. kt mcfarland, great to see

state of florida. what biden's talking about not getting through to the rank and file voters. and there is nothing moderate in what joe biden's pushing. and president trump is absolutely right, joe biden's an empty suit, and aoc and bernie sanders are controlling everything he says and does. he sells himself as a moderate, but that's not how he got the nomination, and that's not how he's going to run america if he is, indeed, electedded. elizabeth: ford, we want to show the viewer how far the democrat platform has come, how it exists now versus how it was in the past. up until, you know, until 2008, 2012, going as far back as john f. kennedy, democrats talked about unity, brotherhood, entrepreneurialism, they talked about capitalism, growth, tax cuts, smaller government. that was from jfk through al gosh you know, downsize the government -- al gore. even through 2008. but since 2012, ford, the

democrats have lost their ideological bearings. they became more of a paying fair share, it became about bigger government and now it's about race and duh viciveness. america -- divisiveness. america going to say this is not who we are with. democrats, you're talking to yourselves, you're in your own bubble. yes, there are problems in the country, people get that, they understand that we want to fix it, but we live under one constitution, one bill of rights, one culture. that's who we are as americans. what do you think, ford many. -- ford in. >> i think you're absolutely right. this is not the democratic party of a decade ago. they want to kohl everything from your wallet -- control everything from your wallet to your guns to what you think. and when you step back and look at it at 30,000 feet, they're worshiping government. they think that government can solve all the people's problems. they don't care a fig about jobs and growth. they want us to become venezuela as quickly as possible, but the difference with venezuela, they

don't want us to drill for oil and gas. so it's absolutely amazing what the democratic party is pushing, and they may hide and say it's moderate, but they're pushing all full-blown socialism. elizabeth: you know, when you look at their math and how they do things, when you look at their analysis, it's like they haven't read u.s. history, they don't know about american history and how we came forward to where we are now as a country. and, you know, i've talked to democrats, they look at this platform and they don't understand how far the democrat party has fallen. i talk to democrat union workers, i talk to teachers, the cops, the firemen if, they're saying they feel alienated, lost because they don't know what the democrats, they don't understand what the party has become. ford, your final word on that? >> well, look, there's a civil war going on in the democratic party between the more traditional moderates and the progressives, and the progressives are winning at every turn. there's a real opportunity for donald trump to capture these votes in november, and there's a

for things this nation has never faced before. and unfortunately, that could involve the use of, you know, these forces. >> this is a trial run for the president of the united states who may be organizing to not accept what happens when we have the election. >> this is, i guess, the president's own versions of martial law since the real military is kind of pushed back from doing that. elizabeth: okay. the criticism has been there: the democrats in the media will be silent about the chaos in the cities. as has been pointed out, this is factual. this is happening in democrat-led cities. so the chaos is negative to the party. so is that new narrative a distraction? is the push by nancy pelosi and others calling federal forces, quote, stormtroopers or push for fascism, is that so as not to

distract from what's going on in democrat-run cities in let's talk to ken blackwell. what do you think, ken? by the way, it's great to welcome you to the show. what are you thoughts? >> good to be with you. as a former mayor and a former undersecretary of the u.s. department of housing and urban development, let me just tell you this. the democrats want to make this a referendum on the president, and so they advance false narratives and they hope that americans shut their eyes and close their ears, you know, to what the reality is. but this is going to come down to a basic choice between whether or not we want the rule of law and safe neighborhoods and streets or whether we want chaos and disruption. and that means choosing between cities that are fields of dreams versus cities that are killing fields. and as you just said in your remarks, there's tangible

evidence that the body count is going up, and most of these urban cities that we see on tv, and what we also are realizing is that there's destruction and there's -- of property. and there's no way that you're going to get the capital infusion that you need to grow the city, create e jobs, put people to work and build livable cities. that is what is going to be at a stake in november, on november the 3rd, whether you choose an opportunity society or whether you want the expansion of a welfare state which is, all you have to do is look at their agenda, and you see that's what joe biden and the democrats are advancing. elizabeth: you know, you're making an important point there, and undercutting, you know, this narrative that we're reporting on, what underconsistents that narrative -- undercuts that narrative is this: would jimmy

carter, bill clinton or even barack obama ignore two months of chaos, looting and destruction on the streets? would they have allowed it? [laughter] >> let me just say, they want the make trump and the police the bogeyman. they want to advance a narrative that america is irreparably racist and, therefore, in need of fundamental transformation. it is not. all you have to do take a hard look at the facts, and what you see is that these cities that are under democrat leadership are turning into killing fields where the residents of these cities are watching their kids and adults slaughtered right in front of them. and if property destroyed. can you and i both know, liz, there's an old saying, the capitol is a coward.

♪ ♪ elizabeth: welcome back. government officials including former fbi director james comey and james clapper admitting behind the scenes they didn't have evidence to of trump-russia conspiracy. peter strzok was fired for anti-trump bias, he also said in early 2017 a new york times story was wrong claiming intelligence connections to the trump campaign. so here's what happened. when the trump white house asked the fbi to disclose publicly what they were admitting to privately, that there was no case against michael flynn, no derogatory information against flynn, they were going to drop the flynn case. trump said, quote: go easy on flynn to james comey. after the fbi even said behind the scenes they had no case. that's what happened. director james comey instead

arranged all of that to be leaked to the media to get mueller appointed special counsel. let's welcome the hill media reporter, joe concha. your thoughts. >> my thoughts is that, well, james comey has9 another book coming out in january 2021. it was just announced this week. he did a media tour first book two years ark made millions of dollars off of it. in other words, there is no accountability for james comey. and remember, let's be clear about this. many news organizations were pitched that dossier way back when in 2016, and almost all rejected it except for buzzfeed who published the whole thing without any disclaimers. cnn followed suit, then from there it gets into the public doe main, we have nice a warrants, and then james comey admits may of 2017, senate intelligence committee, as you said, that he purposely leaked to the media through "the new york times" in order to induce a special counsel to investigate

russia collusion. he says this in open testimony x nothing happens to james comey. so here we are now, right? the trump-russia collusion, that whole -- in terms of narrative when you listen to, say, i don't know, robert mueller, that's been 6 feet under for a while now. yet we is have a new york times story trying to unearth it again in order to somehow still connect donald trump to the russians all these years later, and the american people, quite frankly, the eyes are glazing over at this point, elizabeth. elizabeth: yeah. but people won pulitzer's for a -- pulitzers for a story that wasn't true. i mean, the mueller probe found ten instances of obstruction that the trump team accepted russia help but, you know, no trump-russia collusion. and the back story is this: the hillary clinton campaign paid for the steele dossier, the opposition research. the fbi then tack -- took that

in this september 2016 to do the trump-russia probe. they used democrat-funded opposition research that was approved by steele -- proved by steele's own sources to be dubious and discredited. your reaction. >> it's amazing. peter strzok, meanwhile, since it's the weekend, we can bring this up, elizabeth, the fact that he is probably the least romantic e person i've ever seen. you see all these texts with lisa page, you know, can her about a netflix, you know, series once in a while or, boy, i really like that dress you wore last night. that's kind of interesting. so even peter strzok is saying this thing is all b.s., and the bottom line is that the media played a big role in the fact that we even had a russia investigation in the first place. as i said, by buzzfeed, by cnn getting it out there, and then what did we waste? three years on this of a trump presidency on something that dud not exist. and now we're even hearing, as you mentioned in the last block as far as the president's now

going to steal the election again and the russians are going to help them? i mean, how many times are they going to repeat this lie until people start pushing back? unfortunately, when the media keeps pushing it, enough people out there are going to believe it if you say a lie often enough. elizabeth: yeah, that's it. that's it. to where's the media pushing back saying where's the proof of what you're saying, right? >> you would think that would be the case, right? but look, we're no longer in the era of bias at this point, elizabeth, it is agenda-driven, right? it's activism. it is, okay, we're going to push joe biden over the finish line, we're going to make sure donald trump does not get elected. and, you know, a couple of years ago they would always say, you know what? we're objective. we're just asking tough questions and holding, you know, accountable people of power. now it's open, it's blatant, and it's done from a perspective of donald trump's a bad person, and we as the media are to make sure that he is gone because we are with on a morally higher plain, and that's just not journalism anymore, that's activism, elizabeth.
