we begin with the explosive fireworks house judiciary hearing with ag barr today as democrats led by jerry nadler kicked it off. he basically kicked off the hearing that critics say the way he did it turned it into really vicious, nasty brawl. get right to fox news congressional correspondent chad pergram in washington with more. chad. reporter: liz, this was hearing that was originally scheduled for march but was postponed due to the pandemic. back then democrats really want towed hear from barr. but after the events of the spring and summer, the democrats really, really wanted to hear from barr today. it was variable cornucopia of questions, origins of russia investigation, deployment of federal forces into the u.s. cities. who ordered clearing of lafayette square. and pardon of president trump associate roger stone. >> your tenure has been marked by a persistent war against the department's professional core in apparent attempt to secure favors for the president.

under your leadership, the department has endangered americans and violated their constitutional rights by flooding federal law enforcement into the streets of american cities against the wishes of the state and local leaders of those cities to forcefully and unconstitutionally suppress dissent. reporter: barr defended how the doj handle stone's case. >> stone was prosecuted under me. i said all along that was a righteous prosecution. i thought he should go to jail. i thought the judge's sentence was correct. but the line prosecutors were trying to advocate for a sentence was more than twice anyone else in similar position had ever served. this is a 67-year-old man. reporter: democratic tennessee representative steve cohen wants the house to impeach barr. cohen and barr tangled what went down on lafayette square. >> i learned sometime in the afternoon that the president might come out of the white house and then later in the afternoon, i heard he might

administration did. who we were talking about the investigations going on right now with durham. this was peter strzok and jim comey and andrew mccabe, also joe biden and president obama who in the white house actually talked about unmasking general flynn. these are the kind of people that were under the previous administration but believe me, democrats don't want to talk about that. that undermines their entire line of questioning. when they got in power, all they're trying to do is defeat the president. they don't want to talk about the truth. i disagree with my ranking member, i agree with jim most everything. i agree the spying was a problem. i think the biggest problem they have with bill barr, he tells the truth. he doesn't back up. that is what they hate the most. he told the truth about spying. he told the truth about the mueller investigation. and they can't stand the truth. elizabeth: yeah. we have the durham report about to come out. we have an election three months away. it seems the democrats are rattled by that. it got to bad they repeatedly cut off attorney general william

agents. 2800 subpoenas, $30 million. the fbi got to use powerful fisa wiretaps that catch way more information than criminal wiretaps and they came up with zeros. they didn't have the trump russia case. they didn't have the flynn case. but they kept going. it was an attempt to delegitimatize the incoming trump administration and his four-year term. is that what has the democrats so rattled that they're taking buckshot rifles to ag barr now? >> i think it is. besides having awful candidate for president, biden who can't remember where he is at most times this goes back to covering up. they promised american people when they won the majority they would show collusion in plain sight. that the president would show all these things are wrong. they would be able to do it. what happened they failed every time. mueller didn't go way they wanted. everyone of their hearings is a disaster. impeachment showed the world how terribly focused the president was and not the american people. what jim is saying is exactly right. if chairman nadler had competency as a chairman he would call the inspector general

the courthouse in portland, oregon. these are riots you're seeing in portland, oregon. one u.s. marshal said it looks like downtown baghdad. that ask a direct quote. 18 people killed in riots since it all began. attorney general william barr made the administration case for sending in more federal officials. potentially 150 more coming to portland, oregon. watch this. >> since when is it okay to try to burn down a federal court? if someone went down the street to the court here, that beautiful courthouse we have at the bottom of the hill and started breaking windows and firing industrial grade fireworks in to start a fire, throw kerosene balloons in and start fires in the court, that okay? is that okay? now. they do start fires. they start fires if they can get inside. or through the windows and they start fires along the outside of the prison -- the courthouse. when the marshals come out to try to deal with the fire they're assaulted.

show of force to in fact protect property and protect people. the attorney general is right. look, it has been in our experience that there are joint operations of fbi, homeland security, atf, forces, to combat crime. you said something earlier in the broadcast. if in fact you don't stop the drip, drip of crime, you create not only a debilitating environment for your safety forces, you in fact create environments of opportunities for criminals. what we will see is more criminals coming to these cities that are in fact defenseless. this is crazy and i thought the attorney general did a good job. elizabeth: three officers now blinded, may be permanently blind because of the use of lasers. judiciary chair jer any nadler

people. i am with michael. it is not smart for them to be picking a federal building. i'm all for the protests. elizabeth: okay. let's break it down, again, 18 people are now dead because of these riots. we have federal buildings destroyed. we've got officers, dozens and dozens of officers injured. we have three officers potentially blinded by lasers. and an associated press reporter was inside the building with the rioters attacking the federal courthouse. he saw these marshals and officials getting wounded. they are taking a lot. they're taking hits here. how can claire mccaskill say that? >> because she is a democrat. she is being controlled. the whole thought process of the democratic party. the radical wing of it is the tail that wags the dog of the democratic party now and you know, i don't think that, what she is missing, i would think,

be an american and that flag stands for. bring in fox news contributor and trump advisory board member deneen borelli. what was your reaction when you heard about this pittsburgh steeler player saying he will not do it? >> i applaud him for speaking out, liz. he understands what it means to be in america and to have the opportunity to live in america. his grandmother is an immigrant. he has other family members who emigrated to the united states to achieve the american dream. and so he gets it. he understands it. and i applaud him for standing up and speaking out. elizabeth: you know, how do you think other nfl players are going to react? kneel something seen as solidarity but we're hearing players you know what? shouldn't be using the flag and the national anthem as a platform. how come we're not kneeling in front of a bank of microphones outside of the stadium?

why don't we kneel then? don't basically use that time, that other people see us at times for something sacred. soldiers and people, minorities died for that flag. your reaction? >> no, you're absolutely right. honor the flag, honor our national anthem. and they need to think about the opportunity they have to make tens of millions of dollars to run around playing football. that is great for them. they're able to use the god given talent. for them to stand up to, neil, push back on our freedoms, our liberties, the history behind our national anthem and the flag is absolutely outrage just. but you know what they're doing, liz? they are alienating those who do appreciate and love and stand for the national anthem and the flag. so i'm waiting to see what the stands are going to look-like with this upcoming season. if they're going to play that, the borellis will not be watching nfl football.

elizabeth: okay. but you know, watch, i hear what you're saying. watch wnba players, they didn't just kneel, they walked off the court before the national anthem was played. your reaction to democrat rahm emanuel equating kneeling at the flag protests to worshiping in church and kneeling when praying? your reaction to that? >> yeah. the guy who left chicago in shambles. it is outrageous that rahm emanuel even formed those words and said them but i'm not surprised. but you look at this, this is all under the umbrella of black lives matter, liz. this radical extremist organization that wants to dismantle our core values and principles. dismantle our nuclear family, our law enforcement. they don't like freedom. they don't like liberty. they don't like america. and what america stands for. so people need to understand and recognize what black lives matter is all about.

tom, great to have you own. you and officials are warning drug cart tells continue to take advantage of u.s. authorities dealing with. dealing with turmoil and pushing a lot of drugs across the border. what is your reaction? >> couple of things. first of all, that is accurate. something else we need to talk about since illegal immigration is down and criminal cartels have a lot to do with people across the border there they're looking for extra income. that has been shut down with the president. they will increase drug peddling in the at port of entry. they're more vigilant not delaning family units. they will push out to maritime specifically in the caribbean but president trump is already on top of that. several weeks ago he announced military riff and coast guard

will remain vigilant in the caribbean to counter act their reactions over there i think the u.s. government is in a good place for a good response. elizabeth: they're catching vehicles like ford mustangs, honda accord, tractor-trailers with pounds and pounds of fentanyl. hundreds of pounds of cocaine. thousands of pounds of methaphetamine. let's show the viewer what was caught almost since october last year. 38,000-pounds of coke. look at fentanyl. nearly 2500-pounds of fentanyl. nearly 500,000-pounds of marijuana. nearly 115,000-pounds of meth. fentanyl is scary. a small dose can kill people, right? >> yeah. fentanyl is a 100 times stronger than heroin. fentanyl caused 60,000 deaths in the country last year. two drugs cutting off between the ports of entry.

fentanyl is leading the by a lot. port of entries is dealing with the drugs. port of entry, every car is stopped. if you smuggle drugs through a port of entry, you will be stop and questioned, whether your car is searched or not depend on interview. they know the port of entry is the best bet. that is why the numbers are going up. elizabeth: how are they doing it between the ports of entry rather? >> a lot of ways with vehicle traffic with no border wall. another reason why president trump needs to keep building the wall. when i was a border patrol agents. a quick story, we seized 211 kilos of cocaine. broke through a chain-link fence and broke into the united states. two years ago i went back there, i was at convention. i went up in the same area, reminisce. i saw a great big beautiful wall. no one is driving a truck over there. a lot is drive in, muled in on

backpacks. a lot is being flown in. again cpb has great intelligence both in south america and central america and mexico. so they're actually interdicting a lot more than they used to percentagewise. elizabeth: you know, we're seeing also at the border in texas, they caught a commercial shipment of ketchup, nearly four tons of pot in that commercial shipment of things like ketchup. can you talk to us about the drug cartels now taking hold in cities? a powerful drug cartel with ties to south texas. the new generation cartel. you know, they're also, we're seeing firearms also being caught in these separate drug smuggling attempts. talk about what the drug cartels are doing in u.s. cities. >> the drug cartels set up shop in all the cities, all the way to new york city. it has been expanding. mexico stepping up counternarcotics. they're looking to expand their operation especially in the united states.

look as enforcement as it is country is going through a painful time right now. there is high demand foreillegal narcotics. it is unfortunate. if you want to stop the whole drug cartel and kingpins and illegal drugs in the united states. one of the things the united states can do is stop demand. address the drug addiction and demand for drugs. if they can't sell it they will not smuggle it. we need to do our part in the united states. don't get me wrong, criminal cartels are well-organized, well-financed. they have better weapons than u.s. law enforcement does. they have technology, drones, water technologies it is a catch up game with these people. we have to constantly stay ahead of them when it comes to technology. we have to president at the right time with the effort on this. elizabeth: to do it. you're saying the border wall works? >> it worked every place they put it 100% of the time. the data clearly shows that. elizabeth: tom homan, great to have you on. good to see you.
