elizabeth: welcome to the show. you're watching the fox business network. we begin tonight with the latest in washington, d.c. where democrat leaders and white house negotiators wrapping up their tenth round or so of high stakes talks on the next phase of covid-19 economic relief for americans. blake burman has the latest. blake. >> reporter: i know, liz, or so is probably a good way to put it because seemingly e these talks have been happening every day for the last handful at least. steve my knew country, mark meadows from the white house, chuck schumer, nancy pelosi for democrats, and just like they have every day this week afterwards, it seems that not much was accomplished behind closed doors in that meeting. so much so that after today's meeting mnuchin and meadows came out to the cameras to talk to reporters and say at this point they are recommending that president trump take action via executive order.

watch. >> again, we agree with the speaker this is not the first choice, but people have run out of the enhanced unemployment, so that ising something we will recommend an executive order on. and as it relates to rental foreclosures, we will recommend an executive order on that and also student loans. >> reporter: the meeting came after we learned that 1.6 million jobs were restored in july, dropping the unemployment rate to a little north of 0%. now -- 10%. that could strengthen the cause for conservatives who feel that the economy is on the way back and, thus, the spending should stop. however, nancy pelosi says the jobs report shows that more help is needed. >> this morning was a disappointing, i don't care what rose they try to pin on it, it's got a lot of thorns. and that's because 4 million jobs in june, 1.8 in july.

it's fading. everybody tells us again paw now, pay later and pay bigger. >> reporter: liz, democrats want some 3.5 trillion in relief measures going forward. republicans have put that number at about a trillion. big gap in between. however, pelosi did say today that for the second day in a row they have made an offer of dropping that number a trillion dollars so long as the republicans were to come up a trillion dollars. kind of sort of meeting in the middle there. the white house says that is a nonstarter, they are not going to be going up to the $2 trillion level. liz, back to you with. elizabeth: and we might see executive orders from the president in response to this. he may have his own fixes. blake burman, it's great to have you on. thank you so much for your reporting. good to see you, my friend. thank you so much. okay, coming up, here's this story. former vice president joe biden spent last night not campaigning from home, but again in damage control. fixing and trying to clarify his

own on gaffes and blunders where he said twice on two separate days this week before two separate audiences that african-american, the community is not as diverse as the latino community. he is said that first on wednesday, then in a separate address on thursday biden doubled down say, quote with: now, what i mean by full diversity unlike the african-american community. his blunders prompted a three-part clarification on twitter from biden but no apology. now look at this, president trump firing back saying biden is no longer worthy of the black vote. remember, the black vote is the swing vote, it is the margin of error, and the black vote has correctly called presidential elections more than half the times from since the '90s. let's welcome back harmeet dhillon, z are the mistakes piling up as biden starts to answer more reporter questions? >> -- right9 now on this campaign i would have bushed he

had -- wished he had stayed in the basement. joe biden has a long history of these types of racist remarks against frum when he -- can african-americans when he mentioned he didn't want his kids to grow up in a racial jungle, indian-americans, people from my background and their accents belonging in 7/elevens, telling charlemagne the god that if people did not support them, they are not true democrats and most recently by pandering to the latino community and praising their diversity, he has insulted the african-american community and proven that democrats take that vote for granted. and this president said they shouldn't do that because they deserve better. elizabeth: you know, excuse me, the vice president biden recently also said to a black interviewer, as you point out, charlemagne the god, if you rote for trump, quote, you ain't black. and he had to dial that back and

apologize for that. now he appears to be doubling down, not outright apologizing. a campaign staffer said it was right for biden to fire back angrily when he was asked about not taking a cognitive test. biden attacked that reporter saying, quote, are you a junkie e? >> right. elizabeth: your reaction to that. >> well, i think that junkie remark, i would put that into the bucket of cognitive failures. but, of course, there's a latent racism there as some democratic commentators have pointed out from the african-american community that as some white racists age, they stop hiding what they believe. and i think, you know, that's if a function that we see with some people with cognitive disabilities. i'm not a doctor, but i i think biden has been saying stuff like this for his entire political career, and he's saying it now more carelessly and, in fact, not understanding the damage he's doing. you know, it's really important for what strategists are whispering in their ear, you

have to get that latino vote. he's doing it in a way that's turning everybody off, and all minorities and all voters need to take a second rook at him. elizabeth: the media not covering these mistakes, biden is getting pressure from the media not to debate trump at all. holding public events, i do want to show, you know, the back leaders who are criticizing joe biden's remarks, and then i want to show the viewer exactly what biden said. let's get to that sound on tape and show the viewer exactly what joe biden has been saying lately and why critics are warning, you know, they're saying can he really go into a debate with president donald trump. let's roll the video. watch this. >> by the way, what you all know but most people don't know, unlike the african-american community with notable exceptions, the latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly

different attitudes about different things. >> we can build a new administration that reflects the full diversity of our nation and the full diversity the of the latino communities. when i mean full diversity, unlike african-american communities and many other communities, you're from everywhere. from europe, from the tip of south america all the way to our border with mexico and in the caribbean. this is no sense in making it the reason why -- the way human nature works, and you all work the same way, if you're going to have to go against the grain of the folks you hang out with in order to vote for something that is not going to pass anyway, you're not going to take the shot. but if you're hanging out with a group of people that's against the grain but you know it's going to pass with your vote, then that's a very different thing. >> how do you take it, aing cognitive -- >> no, i haven't taken the test. why the hell would i take a test? come on, man. that's like saying, you know, before you got on this program,

dud you take a test where you're taking cocaine or not. what do you think, huh? >> you sick? elizabeth: your reaction when you heard this. >> cringe-worthy. it's really a disgraces, frankly, that his rell -- relatives and friends are allowing him to run. i think the man is not cognitively fit to do that, and we know why democrats don't want the former vice president to be debating, because he will pile on and make more and more of these abusive types of mistakes that show the democratic party has taken the african-american vote for granted. they view them as part of the democratic plantation. and even to the point where one of his main running mate candidates, kamala harris, she comes from the caribbean. she's from jamaica, her family. and so, you know, not acknowledging the basic facts of the diversity and beauty of thought and of backgrounds of all of our communities in america is an insult. it shows he is not fit and he's totally out of touch.

>> well, i hope so. i hope that they talk to mr. brennan. i think that's somebody a lot of people feel needs to be interviewed because of his role in all of this and his going on mainstream media to talk about all these things while he was this these different positions. think a lot of conservatives have been waiting for this durham probe to end up and to finalize and for some justice to come from some of this. it feels like over a year now that we've been waiting for this to conclude, so so i hope very soon we're going the hear some justice come from the durham probe. elizabeth: the durham probe could wrap up by labor day because justice department policy says prosecutors cannot make overt actions with politically charged cases within 60 days of an election. so, you know, john durham is not squeamish about bringing indictments if there's criminal exposure. he worked on the whitey bulger mob case in boston. reportedly, they're looking into how fbi and cia officials under the obama administration

politicizeed president trump and general flynn, breaking laws, slanting u.s. intelligence on russian interference to justify really hammering and going after donald trump and his team. your reaction? >> the i.g. investigation, obama's i.g., found over 15 different misrepresentations and inaccuracies just in the carter page fisa application expect problemming of -- and the probing of trump campaign vims. absolutely, there needs to be some justice. i think the american people want to see what's going to come of all of this. and if nothing happens, if this goes on in the obama/biden administration doj, gets to do all of these things and they're investigating people for political motivation and there's no justice, no charges and no indictments to come out of this, i think the majority of americans are going to be very upset by that. elizabeth: you know, sir, former acting dni ric grenell was on

our show last night reacting to sally yates' testimony, he's the former dni, grenell. he essentially said that russia was manipulating both candidates, clinton and her team and trump, first by hacking democrats' e-mails and then with russian discuss information attacking trump in the steele dossier, that russia played us, played both parties, but the democrats fell for it. watch this. >> i mean, look, my first reaction was, boy, would i like to be the one that was asking questions of sally yates. she completely missed it. first of all, let's be very clear about a couple of things, elizabeth. we're talking about russian propaganda. the doj under obama and the fbi under president obama and vice president biden had tried to create this thing that is beyond russian propaganda. they're trying to pretend like elections were hacked and voting machine were hacked. they keep saying russian

collusion and russian meddling in our election. what russia did is what russia always does which is push propaganda largely if not exclusively on our social media. and this was about policy issues. not just about candidates. and so so we need to be clear that this is about russian propaganda. elizabeth: okay. donald trump was not found to have conspired with russia. he, you know, the issues in the mueller report that, yeah, he was willing to take help, but he didn't conspire with them to hack the dnc or anything else. former fbi director james comey said, yeah, john brennan was on a briefing with obama in august 2016. he knew we were doing the probe of brennan tells the fbi the dossier that democrats paid for that hillary used in the 2016

inning credible interview, but he also today endorsed my daughter who is running for the house, so he is one strong congressman. elizabeth: congratulations. >> of course they're not going to cover it, you want to know why? they were in on out from the start. here's what happened in washington, when the intelligence community wants to do something that they know wrong, what do they do? they leak it to the press. they have some reporters at the washington post, at "the new york times," at msnbc, and they leak it. and then all of a sudden you see the story that says anonymous sources claim that the, fill in the blank, donald trump a puppet of putin, donald trump is being investigated, michael flynn being investigated, and then the intelligence community can turn around and point to that story that they leaked in the first place and say, well, you know, this gives us some real cause and evidence for investigating donald trump, mike flynn, etc. so they leak it in order to point to it, to investigate it. they're not going to cover this

in the media. they were co-conspirators along with a lot of the people in the senior ranks of the intelligence community. elizabeth: okay. you know, kt, here's what senator chuck grassily has told us -- chuck grassley has told us concerns him. if they can do it to flynn or other individuals, they could do it to you, they could do it to the viewers. here's what he is saying a happened, that the oval office meeting with president obama -- you know this -- and james comey, james comey writes down in his notes that general flynn's phone call appears legit. this is about policy differents with the incoming trump and outgoing obama administration. but then james comey exploits the incoming chaos, sends over peter strzok, joe pientka to interview flynn under the pretext of a briefing x. you know about this. it was a criminal interview -- >> i was in some of those briefings. elizabeth: it was a perjury trap, right? yeah. and so that's the issue. no miranda warning, no lawyer

present. so that's what senator grassley says scary, kt. go ahead. >> yeah. it's a real abuse of power. if they can do it to mike -- they tried to catch me in a perjury trap, and they knew what the -- it's like they have the answer key x they ask you, they quiz you things they think you should remember, and if you can't remember it quite right, well, that happened on a phone call on tuesday, not wednesday, they can pop up and say, well, you must be lying because you should have remembered that. i mean, after all, that wases so important. and then they've gotcha. it's a gotcha question, and that's what they did with mike flynn. and in the end they extort him and blackmailed him and said if you don't plead guilty to crimes that, frankly, we know you didn't commit, we're going to go after your son. that's what they did. they wanted us to say donald trump had committed a crime when donald trump didn't quit the crime. -- didn't commit the crime. and yet they were holding it

over people's heads, flynn, myself and others. and they know at the end of the day, and this is where grassley e is right, they know they can bankrupt you because i you have to pay for your own legal defense. it can run into millions of dollars. so the justice department, the fbi and the crooked cops, as president trump calls them, they know at the end of the day even if you can't plead guilty, even if you won't get broken like they try to do to various people, they're going to bankrupt you. elizabeth: really, so this corrosive and corrupt and just -- in your estimation are the american viewers of abc, cbs, nbc and their entire broadcast networks, are they getting that information about what happened? again, the fbi said they were going to drop the case and probe into, their probe into general michael flynn because it was, quote, no derogatory information

♪ ♪ elizabeth: democrats in the media claim riots are dialing back in portland, oregon, after federal officers left, but they're not. portland mayor ted wheeler last night condemned rioters for again trying to trap more than 20 officers this time and civilians inside a police precinct and tried to set it on fire. portland declared a riot again the night before on wednesday, they tried to set that police

precinct building on fire on wednesday night too. they spray painted over security cameras, broke a glad door with a 2x4, i threw fireworks at officers and tried to run over officers with a truck. let's welcome back former nypd lieutenant darren porcher. these are peaceful protests. they also attacked an elderly woman while she was trying to protect the police building there. your reaction? >> these are clearly not peaceful protests, and i go back to two and a half weeks ago when the speaker of the house, nancy pelosi, calm out and stated these were peaceful common straights with mere graffiti. these are, quote-unquote, riots and the president was right in implementing federal law enforcement agents and sending them to portland to quell the violence that was particularly creating damage to federal monuments and federal courthouses. the federal law enforcement agencies have subsequently been switched out for state police,

but it's really an issue that the mayor has failed to get his hands around, and public safety is under siege as a result of the mayor's inability to present a level of public safety for those citizens of portland. elizabeth: you know, pretty much the same cities were rioting and had massive unrest after the 2016 election are. we're talking oakland, california, minneapolis and los angeles. here's the other thing that's going on, lieutenant, your to the city of portland slapping a $500 fine on the federal government for putting up a large fence to protect the federal courthouse after it had been hit with fire bombs with people inside. why are they trying to fine the federal government? because they put it up without a permit. your reaction to that? >> this is outrageous. the reason why the federal government erected a fence because the local law enforcement agencies have been unable to protect those federal structures. so what the president can do and i think he should do is he

should fine the city of portland for their inability to present the level of protection for those federal structures. this is a city that's under siege, and the mayor has, unfortunately, bowed to the sentiments of the loud minority. however, the silent majority being held captive the as it relates to the fails -- captive as it relates to the failed policies being implemented in portland. elizabeth: you know, lieutenant, it takes generations for cities to come back from violent rioting. we've seen that time and again across the cup. it's interesting -- the country. it's interesting, the question to democrats, why are you staying silent when you know that has been the case? we saw senator hirono walk out of a hearing with senator ted cruz after he said, senator hirono, can i you please specifically condemn antifa violence, and she walked out. 270 federal charges now for riots. 277 injuries to about 140
