everybody says, yes, you know, the first amendment says, you know, peaceful ace assembly. peaceful protests. but this is over the top. >> right. elizabeth: to your point, democrats are saying things like get rid to have electoral college, you know, push through mail-in ballots never been tested before on a national bay us. you know, to regular americans the polls would probably indicate they feel like democrats are threatening their way in to powerful. >> yeah, absolutely. and think about this for a minute. two weeks ago we had a protester shoot a man on the street, a defenseless person on the street, in portland, oregon, based on his political beliefs. and joe biden was asked about it, and joe biden blamed the victim and said that he was instigating it because he was out there protesting, counter-protesting the protesters which is insane. i mean, this is not, this is not a matter of, you know, political difference or anything like

this. this is a matter of constitutional and unconstitutional, right and wrong, good and evil. it's just, it's not difficult. and it's remarkable the degree to which joe biden and kamala harris have been at such a hard time condemning this baer and drawing a clear, bright line about what is totally unacceptable. elizabeth: you know, we're looking at footage of kenosha, wisconsin, where people are cleaning up. five dozen businesses damaged or destroyed but looting, arson and vandalism from the riots. you know, the long-term economic impacts of the '60s and early '90s riots are still lasting today, you know? these riots have exacted a really terrible toll for generations to come, and they slam minority communities very, very hard. the minority communities are hit the hardest according to this information that're putting up on the screen.
1:50 am
your reaction? minority businesses are getting destroyed. >> absolutely. i lived in detroit a good 30 years after the riots there, and you're exactly right, liz. i mean, the neighborhoods that are devastated the most by these kinds of riots are the ones that are in the city, and in this particular case, you know, the black lives matter movement which has started, you know, supposedly as a reaction to situation with george floyd. you know, i'm very -- a lot of americans are very open to the idea that we should reevaluate some of these police procedures to prevent things like that from happening again. i'm entirely in favor of reevaluating those things. but when it morphs into this, you completely lose the majority of the people in this country who supported what was the initial, you know, the initial imwe nurse all of it -- impetus for all of it. elizabeth: charles, thank you so much for joining us, really appreciate it.

compacted smaller in creative ways to be brought into the united states and at a much larger profit. and, you know, it's very disturbing. we're seeing it with the violence that has increased in the southern border, the violence that we've seen in the border towns. if you look at the statistics in places like tijuana wherethe murders have gone up, 1300 so far this year believe to be drug-related. juarez is on pace to exceed the murders that we were seeing during the 2008-2011 drug wars. there are well 200 murders so far. and it's violence that's very real, and they don't care about america, they don't care about our laws, they don't care about our border. and what is more surprising, liz, is that we still have politicians running campaigns on defunding law enforcement, running campaigns on opening the border and defunding, you know, groups like i.c.e.
1:57 am
that is what's insane. they're either not paying attention to what's going on, or they're living in some far-out lala land. but at the end of the day, we're seeing an increase, and these are things that are going to affect american citizens, affect american lives and our way of life. and we need to start getting serious about it. elizabeth: you know, the homicide rate in these border townses south of the border in mexico surpassed the for capita rates of homicide in the middle east. journalists are getting culled. i won't go into the details, they're gruesome, of what the drug cartels are doing, but you make an important point. they're pushing skyrocketing amounts of narcotics. the border patrol seized nearly $100 million worth of drugs in recent periods, the most in the last phi years. but when -- five years. it's also human trafficking as well. but we don't hear the

politicians in d.c. really -- they're not concerned, it seems, about this. it seems only the trump administration is moving on it. your reaction? >> you know, it's something that we've seen for quite some time. we're grateful that we have president trump that's actually bringing things to light and trying to enforce rule and order, you know, law to these area. but you're right, you hit the nail on the head, we need the rest of these politicians to start putting their political party things aside and start showing that they care about the american public. when you're running campaigns on defunding law enforcement, i.c.e. and open borders, i think it's pretty much -- it shows everyone where everyone else's priorities are because that's9 just not the way to do things. this is a country that's funded on laws, and we need to have a border. we need to have barriers. we need to make sure that, you know, the right individuals come in. none of us are against illegal, i mean, none of us are against

immigration. we're against illegal immigration, and i think that's the hard part for so many people. there's a big difference between legal and illegal. elizabeth: we're running out of time. talk to us quickly, drug cartels are moving up certain corridors in the u.s., taking advantage of the covid-19 shutdowns and the chaos in the streets. is that what you're hearing? we're hearing that. >> oh, definitely. at the same time, you know, we have individuals that cross illegally that some of them are sick and, you know, some of the agents are being put in lawyers where they need to -- put in areas where they need to take care of these individuals. it wears us thin, and you see it because these drug cartels are trying to take advantage of that. elizabeth: art, thank you for your service to our country. come back soon, okay? i'm elizabeth macdonald. you've been watching "the evening edit" on fox business. thank you so much for watching, and we hope you have a good weekend and join us again on monday.
