you deserve it. we'll be here tomorrow. god bless america. good night from sussex kennedy: so how'd you pick who gets the vaccine first? who gets an injection at likely lives? and who gets the shaft? very heavy question buried today the cdc decided just that. but did they make the right call customer earlier this evening a cbc panel voted 13 to one, man who is that nosy norbert to recommend healthcare workers and residents of long-term healthcare facilities be first in line for any coronavirus vaccine that get emergency authorization from the fda. they are calling it phase 1a. and the vaccine is widely expected to be approved. vaccines at plural. so when will they be ready?
8:01 pm
here's health and human services secretary, for now, alex lazar. >> it really could be within days of fda approval will see vaccines in people's arms which is frankly incredible. we believe will have people getting vaccinated many before christmas this year. >> while that sounds so hot. it is a christmas miracle but will people take it? would you take it? recent gallup poll say 58% said they would 42% say they would not. the numbers are not fantastic. but experts say that once more evidence of effectiveness comes in, more people are going to get the shot. so are healthcare workers in the elderly good place to start? let's meet tonight's town hall hosted the guy benson joined fox news radio it is guy benson. and we have got reason featured editor peter suderman author of in brand-new book, can hold it up you have the book there pete peter? i'm not written a book.
8:02 pm
[laughter] kennedy: i wish you should, you should write a book. >> ibooks next met could hold u up. [laughter] before now that's great. you can just hold up some of those books, you will really impress the people who are watching with the volume down. i would also not fox news contributor and liberal radio host, she is going to cry liberal tears tonight, leslie marshall fresh off the outnumbered couch. we shared it today. welcome everyone. hyper i did not write a book but i can have books i can lend out for other people wrote for everyone on the panel tonight. before that's wonderful. so guy, you are in fact an author. i wrote a book, yeah. support yea did just last week i understand. when we talk about who gets the vaccine, this is really interesting. this is we really start entering the end of the french revolution freight this is the reign of terror.
8:03 pm
because you have people who are going to make excuses and rationalizations. and this is where the cannibalism really begins. and people start pitting one group against another. and it is going to get ugly. does a very dramatic way of framing it. i take a slightly less dramatic view of this. kennedy: boring. >> we are all going to have the vaccines available to us soon five probably the second quarter of 2021. the question is who gets it first? i think, i'm not a doctor obviously. based on common sense these groups that they are targeting to be at the front of the line, to me i think it is intuitive. i think it is a good decision. i mean if you have people who are in long-term care facilitie facilities, the elderly comorbidities particular vulnerable to these disease, getting them safe as soon as possible, i think has to be a huge priority. that would be in a normal sigh of relief for the country.
8:04 pm
and i think for those front-line workers, nurses, doctors in particular, to the numbers you cited from gallup. i think it people see their doctors getting inoculated on television, doctors and frontline workers lining up eagerly to be shot in the arm, i think that will really help increase the confidence of the public that this is safe, this is effective. it's good enough for their doctors good enough for us. so hopefully, psychologically that would be a boost in addition to starting the process of herd immunity. kennedy: if my 11-year-old saw the cast of grey's anatomy get the vaccine i think it would change her mind certainly. so peter what's talk about this. because helping the old, and your estimation, helps the rest of us. i think that is a great way of framing it. but i want you to explain exactly that thought. >> so when pfizer released their first trench of data a couple of weeks ago, one of the things they noted was not only that it is about 94

effective in the population generally, but specifically to 94% effective in elderly people. that is important. a huge percentage of the deaths that we have seen from covid so far, have been in people 65 or older. about 85% of the deaths. and nursing homes have been hit particularly hard. people in those situations can't easily avoid contact with other people. any intimate, close-up personal help. we can vaccinate the elderly population effectively, but that helps us to that means us younger folks can take a break to some extent. a big part of the case for distancing or avoiding gatherings is not only to protect yourself, but to stop the spread so it does not end up reaching older and more vulnerable people. kennedy: that is why people are saying off of planes. that's why people are singly from family gatherings and not going out, rightly so. because you want to protect the people in your family who

government intervention, watch. >> time has come for congress to pass a bipartisan covid relief a bill that meets the needs of our workers, our families, our schools and our businesses. support later on the day a group of bipartisan centers propose a $900 billion stimulus that would extend unemployment assistance and usher in a new round of small business loans. it did leave out the 1200-dollar stimulus check that president trump and nancy placebo supported. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell said, like his cocaine, that in going to cut it, watch. >> we do not have time for lengthy negotiations. the issue is to be want to get a result? and i would like to remind everybody the way you get a result, you have to have a presidential signature. kennedy: so is there any chance this lame duck congress will get sacked together before they get the flock out of town? here to discuss fox news contributor business of economics at the king's college in manhattan it is brian brenberg.
8:09 pm
so brian brenberg i don't have a problem with $900 billion the way i have a problem with two-point to trillion dollars. the issue with this is something that you have raised. this is an appetizer to continued stimulus legislation, at least for the democrats in this bipartisan group. explain that. >> yeah, the problem is nobody once a stop at 900 billion. early snow went on the left once a stop at mark warner's part of the group that put together this new 900 billion-dollar proposal. but he said is is an interim step. an interim step, almost a trillion dollar interim step to what? obviously something much bigger the beginning of the year. so the issue isn't necessarily is a 900 billion-dollar plan totally bad, it is got its problems. it's better in some ways that what nancy blows he and chuck schumer has proposed. but the big issue is, would be going to get in january? what are we going to get in
8:10 pm
february? how big is that going to be and how much is a squint at up to? what mitch mcconnell is saying is no were not on what stimulus deals outside of the year end spending proposal that we have to put together to fund the government in 2021. only get there we'll talk about stimulus. that way we don't pile spending on top of spending. kennedy: think there a lot of people of small businesses and small children single had shut the government down a don't care. because you don't care about us. i would much rather have a check before christmas i combine my family something then watch you guys keep the lights on so you can have redundant social programs. what's interesting here is susan cohen, mitt romney and susan cassidy of three republicans partisan bipartisan group. i think they see themselves of having a lot of power. because if the republicans do maintain a slim majority in the senate, these are the ones who could swing over and create these bipartisan factions. and they could do a lot of damage.
8:11 pm
they could spend a tonto of money. thinking they are just giving away everything for free and getting people to like them. >> absolutely. even if the republicans hold the senate in 2021, that is no guarantee that you're not going to get spending blowout. the fact is the marshall swing voters in the senate, republican senate are very, very happy to spend money. so people talk about mitch mcconnell having all sorts of power for public until the senate. he has to sequence things very carefully. by think that's what he's doing right now. i want to agree with you when their people at home looking at this theirs then you know what? i could have used some of that bridge of money a long time ago. why in the world can't you get this done? i just want to say to get brexit on your program before, senate republicans that had a happy trillion dollar bill on the table for weeks that would've got money to people who needed it. it has been a house and democrats have said no way, and they are continuing to do that right now. they are still talking about
