arizona congressman paul and senator ted cruz of texas where objecting to the state selectors providing electoral fraud in the election that they say has yet to be resolved. as protesters swarmed the capital, vice president mike pence was rushed out of his chambers and the capital was put on lockdown by capitol police. police failed to hold the crowd as more than thousands were actually inside the lines and had surrounded the capital building itself. some of those protesters penetrated within the capitol

building itself. this man managed to breach the floor of the u.s. senate and took a seat, a comfortable seat. the picture also shows capitol police, this picture shows capitol police with their guns drawn in-house chambers. guns drawn. tragedy also struck today, a woman was killed after being shot in the neck within the capitol building. one witness to that shooting told the daily caller that an altercation took place at the door of one of the house chambers where there was a smashed window. the man, the witness as a police or service or whatever shot her with a gun through the neck. we have heard at this hour absolutely nothing from the capitol hill police. there are bound to be witnesses, excuse me, there are bound to be

facts and details that should be shared with the public, but this is very difficult because the police are not giving any details out to the media, which is simply, in my judgment, unacceptable. outside the capitol building, trump supporters seen leaving american flags, trump flags and then scaling walls. there were also seen climbing on scaffolding that had been placed around the capitol that is used to set up the stage for the january 20 inauguration ceremony of former vice president joe biden. capitol police change into riot gear and they reportedly deploy tear gas. we can tell you they did more than reportedly, we saw it. they deployed tear gas to disperse the crowds as they tried to regain control of the capitol. president trump has been watching the chaos throughout the day from the white house,
10:05 pm
directed the national guard as well as what are termed other pet federal protective services to rush to the capitol building. the president also urged calm in this video message. >> i know your pain, i know you are hurt. we had an election that was stolen from us. it was a landslide election and everyone knows it. especially the other side, but you have to go home now. we have to have have law and or. we have to respect our great people in law and order. we don't want anybody hurts. it is a very tough. in time. there is never been a time like this where anything could happen where they could take it away from all of us. from me, from you, from our country. this was a fraudulent election, but we cannot play into the hands of these people. we have to have peace.
10:06 pm
so go home. we love you. you are very special. you have seen what happens. you see how others are treated that are so bad and so evil. i know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace. >> the president calling on those demonstrators, protesters, and yes some of those rioters to withdrawal. they have withdrawn and to go home in peace. that process presumably is now underway. fox news correspondent mike tobin is on the ground around the capitol in washington. he joins us now. mike, what is the latest? >> welcome at the latest is a very sad visual behind me with police with their batons at the ready with a capitol in full view in the background. a very long line of metro police here. fbi personnel in the background.
10:07 pm
as we go further down the line, you can see these individuals with the shields. those are the national guard that were called up. what you will note about the national guardsmen is the only weaponry that they have is the shields. what we have seen them do over the last hour is they start on the west side of the capitol building and push in this direction. up now pennsylvania avenue and they have held this line now. they have advanced it pretty forcefully from the capitol with the metro cops batons at the ready using very deliberate force. pushing, shoving, knocking guys to the ground. that line kept moving. the end of the results are it is secure. we are ballpark at about 500 yards from the capitol itself. we are just to the north of the capitol reflecting pool.
10:08 pm
officers, the disposition is somewhat relaxed. we will see when they get the orders to do what they need to do next. what we sell on the east side of the capitol was things became rather calm. the president released a statement telling people to go home. people started to leave there. it was cold. around 4:00 o'clock we smelled the teargas coming from the capitol. indicating something was going on. on the other side of the capitol windows were broken out. there were some bullet scars at one of the entrances. south east entrance. the president told people to go home. they had already been doing that. that being said, they have not all gone home. demonstrators standing in front of this line of law enforcement officers and guard men's at the ready. it is not entirely dissimilar to the blm protest. they heckled the police officers the people who say they support law in order really hellenized the people doing the crowd
10:09 pm
control work. they have a lot of what people call bike racks. railings that are used to handle the crowd control in an environment like this. they are using those two create barricades to prevent them from advancing these lines. just move them out of the way and continue. right now, the scene at the capitol is they are holding this line to the west side of the capitol building itself. we will wait to see how things develop. a number of people out here pass or curfew implemented the mayor. we will see where it goes from here, lou. lou: mike, as always, great reporting. i know you made the reference to black lives matter. not to insinuate that they were there. there were reports on social media of the prospect of the possibility of agitators that were mixed in with the
10:10 pm
demonstrators and protesters. have you witnessed anything suspicious or that you interpret as questionable about some of those people actually engaged at the capitol that were rioting? >> i guess i could not say that anyone stood out. it would be hard to label someone as an agitator when you have something as egregious as storming the capitol itself. like all of these demonstrations or riots, you have some people who have shown up because they believe in the cause and you have some people show up because they want to make trouble. there are people here that are emotionally charged. a lot of trouble at the capitol here today. >> it looks like they are doing a very good job of it. what a job that they had to do to secure that capitol.
10:11 pm
as they are rushing the capitol. mike tobin, thank you so much. we appreciate it. joining me now, former congressman, former chair of the house oversight, author, great american. jason, good to have you with us. jason, this is an extraordinary spectacle that we witnessed today. a sorry spectacle. your thoughts about what you witnessed and your reaction to it. >> it is a sorry sight. it is a sad sight. it did not need to happen. protesting is the american way. one of the most patriotic things you can do. attacking law enforcement, breaking through windows, rushing onto the floors of the united states senate, trying to break through barricades, that is as un-american as it gets. i was infuriated over the
10:12 pm
spring, summer, fall when i saw them attacking another federal facility out in oregon. for weeks we sell people looting and rioting in going after things and breaking things and attacking law enforcement. i only sell once i get upset about it. i am glad to see the democrats getting upset about it as well now. i hope they reconsider and look at this idea that kamala harris spent her summer working on cashless bail and trying to get these people out of jail as fast as possible. i thought that was wrong on public policy. the united states capitol is a sacred place. it is totally wrong for those people to do what they did. the idea that they only arrested 13 people, are you kidding me, i saw a lot more people than that preaching the barricades. they need to arrest them, throw them in jail and prosecute them to the fullest extent to the law no matter who they support
10:13 pm
politically. lou: no matter who they support politically. we don't even know who these people in fact are. we do know that they are among the group of trump supporters and where they are to and protest against what they call a fraudulent election, as millions of americans do call that election. it is surprising how few were arrested. i agree with you on that. there is also the question about why we do not know more about this woman that was shot and killed and according to at least one eyewitness shot and killed by one of the officers protecting the capitol. >> you can see that this protest is happening. it started to come towards the capitol. i saw lots of protest with thousands of people.
10:14 pm
how the capitol hill police were totally unprepared to repel anyone coming in, how those doors are able to be breached -- i presided over hearings of people breaching the white house steps in getting into the white house. this is not a new topic and i do not understand how they could not rappel people. make sure that they cannot do that. >> jason, there has been, and i was speaking with our capitol hill, one of our capitol hill correspondent's earlier, about how difficult it is to get information from the capitol hill police. capitol hill police. their reluctance to be forthcoming and to be immediate with their response of
10:15 pm
information that is always been customary. name, age, residence, et cetera. height and weight. and the nature of the offense if that is the case. we are watching a law enforcement agency become arrogant in their refusal in a timely manner about incidents like the tragic incident today in which this woman was shot and killed. your thoughts. >> unfortunately, this is not the only time. god bless her. i don't know what she was doing. i don't know if she wasn't such a threatening manner police felt they needed to take action. they should be releasing these details. is there an officer that is being placed on paid leave, is there an investigation, what was the situation, is there any

other video? this is where america goes to debate issues. some think this degree of a tragedy should be the information that should be handed out to the media and to the public. i don't understand why this many hours later we have not really heard anything. lou: we heard from the president this afternoon as he called upon demonstrators and supporters and rioters who invaded the capitol. asking them to withdraw, to remove themselves to respect law enforcement. to withdraw and do so peacefully that message was blocked when he put it up on twitter, on facebook. we have just learned that for 12 hours the president president
10:17 pm
twitter account has been frozen. your reaction to the immense power that is being exercised by a left wing driven managed and owned public company, twitter. >> i think this is why the president has routinely made a big issue about section 230. the president is right. the inability of the president of the united states, to be able to get out this message and convey his message, in a time where it actually affects people's lives, not just an election, but actual life, that is inexcusable. congress needs to follow through on that. i am afraid that they won't, but it is inexcusable at this point. >> jason, as always, good to have you with us. thank you so much for your time. in the middle of all of this,
10:18 pm
fox news has called both the georgia senate runoff raises for the democrats. beating republican david perdue. in beating kelly loeffler. the balance of power now absolutely split. 5050. with a potential joe biden presidency approaching, this will likely open the floodgates for a host of policies that have been pushed by the left for years. now they will be doing so through congress and a senate that they control. also developing this hour, the house and senate will try to reconvene at 8:00 p.m. eastern, just about 42 minutes from now, to continue the certification of the electoral college vote. demonstrations and protests, senator ted cruz of texas were

objecting to arizona's votes. senator rand paul telling supporters that he does not think there will be another objection. his words. we will find out. fox news correspondent is in washington with more on what is happening outside the capitol. rich, what are you seeing? >> good evening. as you are just introducing all of this, the police department and metropolitan police department, washington, d.c., they are moving in here right now. major, major police activity. these officers -- okay, we are being told to leave now because of the curfew. that curfew is at 6:00 o'clock eastern. we are beyond that. excuse me, officers. we are going to head out. metropolitan police officers, they are enforcing washington,
10:20 pm
d.c. law. the mayor came out this afternoon and said, 6:00 p.m., people have to be inside. that is what these folks are enforcing right now. what these officers are talking about right now. you had earlier today, lou, you had thousands, tens upon thousands of people who flooded this entire area. they came from the area closer to the white house, about a mile and a half from here, after the president's speech earlier today , flooded into this area. capitol hill police after the mob stormed the interior of the capitol, congressional office building and several other places. >> go or you will be arrested. let's go. [inaudible] >> capitol hill police,
10:21 pm
metropolitan police tried -- go ahead, lou. lou: you are doing heroic work and we appreciate it. judging by the tenure of the commands of the officers, it is probably better that we come back to you when we can get settled in one place. you are doing a terrific job. thank you so much. we don't want to make it any more difficult than it already is for any of the law enforcement restoring order to the nation's capitol this evening. rich edson, we will have back on the broadcast later in the hour. thanks again. joining us now is doug, advisor to two presidents. presidential historian. doug, we are witnessing history being formulated at this very moment. this has been an extraordinary day. this violence, this very
10:22 pm
historic element of this that is all but overwhelmed by the demonstrations and the seizure of parts of the capitol by the protesters. the fact that conservatives were in the streets of the capitol protesting and demonstrating. i cannot think of the last time conservatives, republicans, were involved in street demonstrations. your thoughts. >> you know, by the way, florida, there is no curfew down here. governor desantis, we can still also speak freely here. i was going to say, lou, i have often been deeply impressed by the american people. the national media often looks with condensation and insult their intelligence with outrageous stories thinking nobody is paying attention.
10:23 pm
i think that this is an uprising of the american people. this is not something organized. trump did not organize this. it is something that happened because people are feeling in their gut that something was wrong with this election in nation balloting by mail, as you know, my wife is from france, it's illegal in france, italy, greece, norway, sweden, on and on. jimmy carter says it's to open to fraud which is why it's illegal. they sent something is wrong and very spontaneously responded and came to washington. it may have been clumsy, it may have been wrong, hurtful and counterproductive to their cause, but this is something that the people are doing.
10:24 pm
lou: great spot annuity and passion being expressed by these demonstrators and protesters that then amongst those protesters and demonstrators, this sudden decision on part of the mod that it came to then storm the capitol. it is unconscionable. in some minds, sort of understandable to say this pales compared to the violence this country witnessed by the left over the course of the spring and summer, even the fall the reality here is it is repugnant to all americans to see violence and a protest and a demonstration that i think millions and americans could cheer, the cheering stopped when they entered that precious
10:25 pm
capitol building. that was it one step too far. it is good to see that things are back in order. i think we also have to take note. you talked about the spontaneous arrival of these people. there was also great talk on social media and suggestions from even the president that january 6 would be a great day to demonstrate and to show congress there concern about a fraudulent election, as they view it. tens of millions of americans view it that way. what are your thoughts about that in flaws of the day's activities on the politics? we heard from joe biden saying that the president should prosecute everyone to the fullest extent. he did not say that about a single one of the most violent rioting of those that committed the most violent rioting in the
10:26 pm
country from may through august. your thoughts. >> a very good point, lou. and a lot of hypocrisy going around. i thought of my good friend, george w. bush who was complaining about what happened, i remember we were all encouraging those demonstrators crowding into the hallways, shouting and screaming spontaneously, supposedly hollering all the way to the supreme court. [laughter] lou: well, we remember the outcome of that. that frustration has been part of the subtext for the democratic party, obviously, for the past 20 years. as always, thank you for your insight. your perspective. we appreciate it. you are looking at senators and
10:27 pm
their staff returning to the work of the evening which is to move ahead with the certification of the votes. they are planning to do so beginning at 8:00 o'clock. we just heard that vice president mike pence has returned to his chambers there at the capitol. house minority member school lease updating members that as soon as the house, sergeant-at-arms can confirm that the capitol building has been secured, is safe, the houses expected to reconvene and resume to the electoral votes. those representing that view in the house of representative and senator ted cruz in the u.s. senate. scalise also telling members that votes are expected in the house tonight and could go late into the night.
10:28 pm
joining us now by phone is congressman brooks. the challenge to the electoral college vote. congressman, good to have you with us. a difficult afternoon and evening. for you and everyone else in the country. your thoughts about what we can expect to see happen this evening in the house and whether you will go forward with the objections and the schedule that you have through the evening. >> before i go into that, let me mention our capitol police have done an excellent job. as we were being escorted out, probably 100 members on the house floor at the time, they, on the other hand were briskly walking or running in the direction to where the violence was taking place. once again, i am very thankful for our capitol police, as i'm sure most citizens are certainly
10:29 pm
throughout the country. we anticipate going into session. probably around eight. perhaps a little bit earlier. perhaps a little bit later. we will continue debate on the state of arizona's certification on electoral college votes. after that is completed we probably have an hour or so of debate left. then we have a vote on whether to accept or reject the certification from arizona. after that, i am not sure what we will deal. we have a right so we should choose to recess until 10 in the morning or we can continue to work our way through these objections. i have seen nothing that suggests to me that there will not still be objections to the certifications of six different states who in our judgment have such badly flawed systems to render their results as untrustworthy.
10:30 pm
i do not know what the senate will deal. will we have more or fewer senators joining us in respect to the objections of some of these states. at the last time three states that the senator said they would reject two. pennsylvania and arizona. i want to emphasize one thing. i don't know if you covered this. people need to reserve judgment on who was involved in this. there are two parts. one part is the exterior to the capitol building, but on the capitol grounds where they took down barricades or fencing or what have you. on concrete. going inside the united states capitol. there is some indication that fascist elements were involved. they embedded themselves in the trump protest to appear to be trump protesters. there is of course obvious video tape suggested that trump supporters themselves were
10:31 pm
involved. it could be any number of groups. anarchy is or what have you that could have taken advantage of this opportunity to vandalize the united states capitol. i encourage everyone to not form a judgment until our capabilities have been exercised in full. i promise you, we will know whether it was one or more of those groups in combination that conducted this violence on the united states capitol grounds. i do not care who they are. they need to be fully prosecuted under the united states law to the fullest permitted by law. lou: yes. there have been reports that there were instigators. there is no evidence or proof as you allude to as to those suspicions -- >> we did have some advanced warning that there may be antifa elements masquerading as trump supporters in advance to the
10:32 pm
attack on the capitol. there is some evidence. whether that is true or not, i cannot say. >> it is evidence of intelligence that was not well used by the authorities. when i said we don't have evidence, we have nothing more than speculation at this point. some conjuring about the prospect of a possibility. i think your caution is a correct one. nonetheless, we have a lot to learn here. the capitol hill police, they are not being particularly helpful in failing to disclose all of the details that they have at their disposal about the death of the woman this afternoon, being shot, at this point, sensibly by a capitol hill police officer or some other law enforcement officer in the capitol hill building.
10:33 pm
i would like to ask you this. how will this affect, do you think, this event today? how will it affect the outcome of what was already a very difficult task to move those objections against states, arizona, for example, are you getting a clear hearing on it? are you having an informative and helpful debate on the objections to those electors? >> the debate will continue, but so long as the republicans are fractured as whether to fight voter fraud and election theft, we will not make the kind of progress that we should make to send a very strong message to space that they need to clean up their election systems if they expect the rest of the country to respect. lou: the hesitancy to confront the objections, on the part of
10:34 pm
the house and senate, but certainly more so in the senate, has created a high likelihood that those objections will fail. i think that you would agree. at the same time, the great failure seems to be in the state legislatures where those objections should have been brought and they should have been expressed in the investigations carried out of those claims of fraud and the constitution provides for resolution at the state level. i want to ask you as a conservative, as a leading conservative, that is our federalist system. the republicans seem to have given state legislatures a pass and their responsibility of this. >> well, normally i defer to the 10th amendment which means of course states rights. article one section for the constitution, the language is very clear. the election cause.
10:35 pm
congress has a responsibility. legislatures have the secondary responsibility to the extent that congress fails to do its duty. the problem is that the legislatures did pass laws and other non-legislative bodies violated them and the state legislators in these states whether it be michigan, wisconsin, pennsylvania, georgia, what have you, they did not promptly act to fight those attacks on the legislative body by the ignoring of legislative law. >> failures of so many institutions and amongst them the department of justice, the fbi, the investigative agencies that should have been looking into these allegations of fraud and of course a supreme court which twice had the opportunity and i believe the responsibility to have dealt with exactly what we are talking about, and

editor-in-chief of just the news and best-selling author, of course, great american. great to have you with us in to get your perspective of what is happening. one of the questions that comes to mind, most of the nation has to be at least somewhat surprised to see that enthusiastic trump supporters in the streets of washington, d.c. at this time of day. we are used to seeing lots of enthusiastic trump supporters, but not on the streets, not at this hour and to see what has happened here today, a tragic shooting of a woman who was reportedly trying to gain entry into the building, into the capitol building, shot and killed. your thoughts on what we are witnessing and the likelihood that this is more complicated in terms of the makeup of the crowd
10:43 pm
that some of which became a mob. >> yeah. it is a complicated thing. we learn in these events not to make early judgments but to keep following all the facts. the fog of chaos can often clutter or create a false narrative in the beginning. we learned that in kenosha just yesterday with the findings that came out against the officer. what we do know, from the video i have been able to review, there are a large number of supporters that did penetrate the capitol or gain entry. i can confirm the same thing that the congressman said a few minutes ago. lawmakers and police were at intelligence, some liberal anarchists may dress up as maga supporters and try to agitate and create incidents that would create spontaneous combustion moments. we do not know if that is happened yet. we are going through a lot of video footage. we are talking with law

enforcement. it will be a couple days before we know who all the perpetrators are. for the video reviews that we have done, a large number of people that stormed the capitol, gained access, where trump supporters. certainly known to be trump supporters from social media accounts and other activities. it is a tragic day, but a singular moment. here is the big difference. as soon as it happens, republicans condemned. very different from the democrats that were condemning today, but were silent while they were attacking police for the last six months. >> hypocrisy of the left is agree just. but it is also, now, so common that i think people have started accepting. it is the norm for the left. a rare and very tragic exception
10:45 pm
for the right. it is interesting to see that there is enough frustration now at least amongst part of the republican party amongst some conservatives to go into the streets, the estimates that i have heard, i have heard anything from 100,000 at the ellipse to a million in the city throughout. i do not know what the right number is. i have not heard a proper estimate from authorities, but it is a lot of people. i cannot think of a time, as i have said here tonight, i cannot think of a time we have seen republicans in the streets demonstrating a protesting. can you? >> not like this. i went out early this morning and walked amongst the people. we just talk to. so many of them are patriotic while loving americans who are

frustrated that their institutions of government, of media have let them down so many times. they just want their voices to be heard. listen, i spilled my blood on foreign soil for this country. i just want my voice to be heard one time today. there was a moment that made this a tragic day. we cannot lose sight of those frustrations and how those folks will have to exercise themselves going forward to take back the issues that they feel were stolen from them. this could be 1993. everyone was depressed when george h.w. bush got thrown out. then the revolution quickly happened because the republicans went back to ideas and activism and lawful ways to gain control. i think from this moment there could be a springboard to launch new movement to take back the things that are most frustrated about. lou: you and i talk politics
10:47 pm
often. i will just throw one thing out. as we have heard that frustration amongst some of these very young demonstrators and protesters and i will be very delicate about this because of my own age. we have an older party. older leadership and a desperate need for young leadership. i saw the old leadership start talking about clichés. the platitudes about socialism. how far, we have to avoid biden at all cost. but part of it he won't. the reality, this country has moved so far toward socialism already. look at the total number of public employees in this country the total number of people. the military industrial complex. those are taxpayer dollars driving the economy.

structure to reach people. to talk in social media. to talk in ways that rick meet younger voters. they have moved social media and social media has not been friendly to conservatives. they have to build their own infrastructure in order to be effective in future elections. >> the democratic party has now been subsumed by the big banks, big business and more. it is left for the republican party, precisely where donald trump has led the republican party. that is to be the party of the working man and woman and their families and to be populist because that worked and it has worked all across the country in every race, whether it is a congressional race or senatorial race. we have seen some rhinos lose weight. there will be fewer of those come two years. john solomon, great to have you

sure the voices were heard from the people because he did not believe the constitution was followed in the election. now he has changed his mind on that. senator steve gaines on the senate side saying he will no longer object to this. the number of people objecting to these votes is sort of dwindling. nancy pelosi released a statement. talking about the damage she says this, it cannot however deter us from the responsibility to evaluate the election of joe biden which is why the house and senate are going back into session at the top of the hour. we understand vice president mike pence is currently in the senate right now. he never left the complex of the u.s. capitol. he was in a secure location coordinating according to a spokesperson with capitol police and other law enforcement to make sure that things are safe. now he has gone back into the senate along with the boxes that

contain those electoral certificates. business starting up very shortly. back to you. >> one of the things we have heard reported by other news organizations today is that vice president pence had called out the national guard. we want to be clear that everybody understands he did not the president of the united states is the only one that commands the d.c. national guard and it was his decision to bring those troops. >> exactly. that was confirmed. >> to secure, to secure the capitol. yes, ed, yet something. >> the president told chief of staff mark meadows to contact and follow through with that and that is exactly how that went. there was some miss information about that. it was directly through the chamber. >> are you corroborating what i just told the audience? >> that is exactly what i am doing.
10:53 pm
lou: thank you for that. we appreciate it. thank you so much. terrific work. ed lawrence. joining me now, chief political correspondent for the washington examiner, investigative journalist foxbusiness contributor, both great americans. your reaction to some of the reporting we have heard so far, as i just pointed out, some outlet saying that the vice president, for crying out loud, was calling out the national guard when in fact it was the president who is the only one that can command the d.c. national guard. your reaction. >> this has been the problem from the beginning. the problem since 2016. information being disseminated to the american public. i was there today. i got there at 10:00 a.m. i was talking to people just like john solomon. i was talking to folks. they just want to be heard.
10:54 pm
people just want to be heard. they feel after four years they have been let down by the gop. they have been let down by the democratic party. they feel like they have been let down by lawmakers. they see washington, d.c. as a swamp. they see the media as reflective of that swamp. they do not feel like they are being listened to. you see this culmination. this was not just one day. this was four years of frustration of people saying no more. a friend of mine actually contacted me and said it reminded them of when someone just stood up in the middle -- against the government. i think what we are seeing is a culmination of four years of anger and frustration. we see it on twitter, we see it on facebook. >> by the way, to your point, the demonstration, the protests of republicans, conservatives, trump supporters in the street
10:55 pm
was historic until it turned tragic. part of those demonstrators turned into rioters. the frustration is understandable and its expression through peaceful demonstration, peaceful protest is one thing. the violence that we witnessed today is inexcusable, whether it is on the left or the right. byron york, your thoughts about your town tonight witnessing this. it has to be somewhat unnerving to folks who are unaccustomed to seeing republicans in the streets protesting there, well, some of their sacred, sacred, would we say negligence is, working men and women, regular americans in the streets from the right demanding and

protesting and demonstrating. >> well, what started as a protest, the protest that the president wanted, he wanted his followers to come to washington today on the day congress would certify the electoral college results. the story changed tremendously with this storming of the capitol. there is something ironic here, if you remember, for months now, many businesses in downtown washington have been boarded up. trump supporters would say they are not afraid of trump supporters, they are afraid of the left, antifa and violence in case donald trump wins reelection. now look what happens. there is this historic storming of the capitol. the pictures of it are just incredible. either way, you have number one and number two in the

presidential line of succession. vice president and the speaker of the house in the same room at the time of mob is trying to break into the capitol. lou: it boggles the mind that these people are trying to get by law enforcement officers to get inside the capitol. it seemed motivated, it seemed directed. your thoughts, byron, about that, and sarah as well. why would they even want to do such a thing? >> i understand this issue. love, john sullivan was looking at a number of maga supporters doing this. we definitely need that. i also believe that mass arrests would help us a lot in understanding who these people were that when in there. clearly there were people today
10:58 pm
that were brought to the rally by president trump's words and they believe that the election was fixed and stolen from the president. that is what they believe. but, there was sound event in which they decided to actually go over these barricades, break through doors and break through the capitol. we all saw what happened. that was a stunning turn of events. >> byron, i think you brought up a really good point. luke, we have to see the facts here. there has to be identification of the people that did break through. we have to figure out who they were. i was talking to folks from security that they were attacked under an expecting people from antifa to arrive dressed in maga attire. we need to figure out who was there. we do not know what exactly happened, how it all transpired.
10:59 pm
we do need all of those facts. maybe there will be some type of commission. i think that the public has the right to know. it needs to be made public and we need to find out what happens. somebody lost her life today. a young girl lost her life today. we should find out how that happened and how that transpired. >> and the capitol hill police are not being very helpful in that, are they, byron, sarah. it is stunning, as we discussed, to think about broadly, law enforcement which we all support enthusiastically and appreciate greatly. this business that has taken hold of law enforcement from the fbi to local departments, it is inexcusable. the time they are taking to put the public's right to know front and center and to serve the public by informing them of timely matter of incidents including today's tragedy.
11:00 pm
byron york, sarah carter, thank you both, as always. we thank you for being with us. be sure to join us tomorrow. former independent counsel kenneth starr among our guest. please be with thanks for breaking news tonight, it has been a day unlike anything, any living american's ever seen. and someone has played with her life. thousands of prothrombin demonstrators swarming and occupying u.s. capital building just as congress began certifying joe biden's election victory. act lawmakers on both side of the aisle have called a disgrace. it all began not long after president trump books were a large crowd near the white house, still insisting the election was stolen. many, if not most of people in d.c. were peaceable. many others, they were not. apparently they were bored and determined and there was
