of new york state and the timing of this desire to open up right, right before the inauguration? suddenly we're all talking about opening up, what's with this? >> well it is the same thing as the state of washington deciding that maybe they need too finally clean up the streets of seattle. they were very happy to shut down the economy and to let terrorists run wild in manhattan and chicago and seattle so it would give donald trump a black eye. and now that joe biden is in office they're going to enforce the law and they're going to put athe economy back to work which are basically saw was mayor de blasio punishing the people of the city of new york because he wanted to make a statement about donald trump. it's absurd. if anybody should be impeached it's bill de blasio, not that i condone some of the things that trump you know, condoned in his last days but really, there has been a lot of very questionable behavior by politicians in

democratic states not being loyal to their oaths but rather to their party affiliations. stuart: okay. do you think it was deliberate that the big democrat states shut down far more than republican states because they wanted a poorly-performing economy under president trump? do you think it was that deliberate? >> i think it was more like virtue signaling. that since republican states were staying open they had to show they were committed to a better ideology, the religion of liberalism or progressism by shutting down. it is very unfortunate but there is a certain tropism on the left and far right, if you do certain things in line with the ideology you will get favorable economic results and that is just not the case. you watch. over the next several weeks somebody like jared bernstein will try to tell us raising the minimum wage will actually increase employment or certainly won't have any effect even

a website selectively posted information while suppressing other information or number two, uses true information to manipulate a narrative which they're interested in communicating to their users, this in effect can be defamation. so what my bill does is, does two things. if the company, the social media company censors outside the scope of their terms of service and censors outside the scope of section 230, then they could be liable. this gives them broad room to select a terms of service they want and still maintain their free speech rights but gives some recourse that those whose rights are being infringed upon by big tech social media companies. >> as we said, tom, this only applies to north dakota at your

state's level but do you think this is kind of a template for use in other elsewhere? >> absolutely. you know this last week, last 10 days i'm getting contacted by legislators all over the country, hey, can i have a copy of your bill? can i talk to the congressman in my state to see if we can introduce it here? this is really passionate and resonating with people. people are very concerned about what is happening with censorship in this free country. people are shocked at the level of censorship. i think one thing is certain censorship does not help the situation of division in our country. it does not de-escalate tensions and only makes things worse. it only makes those who are being silenced dig in deeper and become more suspicious of what's happening. stuart: tom kaeding, you are
